SP is also my favourite DC Bond film (I don't love it), but people here have convinced me that Bond driving off in the DB5 at the end of the film was a good ending to his run as Bond.
Well the ending of spectre sure has left people guessing
Dan will be back for one more
Again, what is your source?
I doubt he's claiming he has a source. He just believes Dan will be back, and tbh, I hope he's right... because DC MUST kill Ernst Stavro Blofeld
It’s certainly awkward, Blofeld still alive and therefore able to escape from MI6, Bond we assume, off doing the wild thing someplace with the daughter of a former Spectre operative. I enjoyed Craig’s run as Bond, in fact it resurrected my interest in the James Bond story and the movies, but if he moved on as Connery did, I don’t believe that with the readymade audience for Bond films, the story line will end.
I don't need to be doing the writers' job for them -- goodness knows they could use some help though -- but the easiest way to do the next movie is to make Swann a double agent. She's been leading Bond on all along, perhaps while working for Blofeld.
Please no. Ditch that whole sorry story arc I beg of you )
I do feel like Swann does need to return, but I do feel like that is too similiar to the Vesper Lynn Storyline. I feel like a 'it didn't work-out' plotline is plausible, with Bond back like nothing happened, or a Bond film where Swann is killed in the pre-titles coinciding with Blofeld's escape from prison would be entertaining.
However this feels like familiar terrirtory again, following OHMSS and LTK.
It would also be nice to see Bond going back while still with Swann, "for one last job", and Swann's death is halfway through the film or near the end.
“The scent and smoke and sweat of a casino are nauseating at three in the morning. "
-Casino Royale, Ian Fleming
If Craig returns either have Bond just move on from Swann and go in a different direction or have her murdered by Mr. Hinx while on holiday or honeymoon with Bond (Hinx would be in a bulletproof neck brace of course) and do a much more faithfull adaptation of the YOLT novel and call it the "Garden of Death" or "Death Collector". That would be a fitting way for Craig to exit.
Bond used to always finish films with a girl, and there was never any reason to expect the girl to return. But Craig's Bond is much different. Every story has been connected with an explanation (no matter how convoluted) for everything. If Craig comes back, it's expected that we will see Madeleine again. Bond ending the film with a meaningless girl isn't something that has happened to Craig's Bond before and I see no reason why it will start now.

Oh, I didn't say it's the best -- just the easiest. There are myriad ways to do it. The problem is that unlike the Connery Bonds, where there was only loose continuity, the Craig Bonds seem far more determined to be true sequels. The result is viewers expect on some level for direct continuity to occur.

Should have read this first -- you said it better than I did.

Spectre ended more like what might have been part 1 of a 2-part movie sequence -- a leftover from when they kicked around the idea of filming two movies back to back. But the way they're handled, there's no reason to believe Swann automatically will return -- as others have posted, it's just something the Craig Bonds have conditioned us to expect with sequels.
What would be cool is if Daniel Craig returned for his ultimate fifth and last performance, as a direct sequel to Spectre, or just a sequel and have a massive showdown with Blofeld perhaps. I am not sure how Craig will walk out, whether he will retire in front of our eyes or if another actor will replace him but the same character. They better come up with a synopsis soon or else he will quit.
I really feel like no Bond film until 2019.. I mean if they are going for a 2018 release date they would need to announce something fast in order to cast, film then edit. Based on DC's projects and the way things are its not looking good but I think we can expect an announcement next year hopefully?
Don't you think it's a little too late for that? Or is that just what you are hoping for? They haven't even started pre-production on the next Bond film, and production itself take a year these days.
Well, Seeing how positive he was in that interview recently, that wouldn't be much of a stretch to think! And I sure hope we will get that announcement next year!
IMO, Fall 2018 may be the target date. It fits into the every 3 years schedule that is the trend these days. If Craig does return, it also fits his current schedule. If Craig is not returning, the new Bond will have adequate time to finish up any prior commitments and get into Bond shape.
"Get into Bond shape" is an interesting note - do we think Craig has made this a permanent requirement going forward, and all future actors playing the role will have to spend six months in the gym? Brosnan was in fine form, but not exactly a bodybuilder.

I certainly hope looking pumped with weird substances will not be a permanent requirement! I'd rather see some chest hair again...

I think looking very fit it pretty much a prerequisite for contemporary action stars, not just Bond. I think it's a bit overstated regarding Craig's physique. The only film he really looked "pumped" was CR. The other three films he had what could be described as a middle or Light Heavyweight boxer's type physique. Also, I guess I was being a little too vague about what "Bond shape" is. "Bond shape" also means to get in good physical condition to be able to endure the great physicality of the role, to learn how to properly handle and fire weapons so you look convincing on screen, to get some hand to hand combat training so you actually look like James Bond in a fight.
Pierce was the lightest and the heaviest Bond. He may not have been quite the physical specimen but he always looked fit and he moved well in fight scenes and handled weapons relatively well, at least "movie well". With regards to the chest hair, chest hair no problem; man boobs: big problem. )
I actually would prefer the next Bond actor to NOT look like he spends hours in the gym lifting weights. I prefer him to look more like a reasonably fit regular guy. Fleming's Bond swam, did push-ups, leg lifts and stretches. He didn't necessarily look like The Hulk in a suit.

There's positive thinking and then there's delusional... 8-)

Some said it was impossible for a weird orange billionaire to become president ! .. but it happened!
Very true, hopefully it ends there and Kanye West doesn't actually make it into the office....
But agreed. Also who is to say that Eon hasn't already started the script and started casting?
Announcing Bond 25 somewhere around April or May of 2017;
Announce title, filming fall/winter 2017 into spring of 2018;
Releasing November 2018.
That's more or less the track that Skyfall and Spectre followed.
A script outline was delivered some months ago -{

No...just to Eon as far as I know.
