Interesting note- Enter The Dragon is widely regarded as merely Dr. No remade with Bruce Lee, a TV movie of the week sort of ripoff of that, Men Of The Dragon, featured Joseph Wiseman in the 'Han' role... so weird, but alas, Wiseman totally phoned it in on that cheapie. He was doing Dr. No lite... 8-)
Just watched it on blue ray for the first time, and I have to say I'm blown away and never imagined it could look so good. A couple of interesting points crop up during Bond's briefing with M. It's established that Bond has been a 00 for 10 years. Also that his Beretta jammed on his last job causing him to spend 6 months in hospital.

Yes, it’s interesting how much of the little details they managed to carry over from the DN novel, with the Beretta episode taking place in FRWL, the book that came before. Since they made DN the introductory installment, like the chronology of Bond’s life in the debut book, CR, Bond’s career had begun at most a decade (1941) or in the least though unlikely, 6 years prior (1945, if CR took place around 1951 before its publication) ...so being in the service for 10 years in the DN film is appropriate.
"...the purposeful slant of his striding figure looked dangerous, as if he was making quickly for something bad that was happening further down the street." -SMERSH on 007 dossier photo, Ch. 6 FRWL.....
There seems to be an idea floating around that a 1982 VHS 20th Century Fox released version of Dr. No is 'uncut' and includes violence and lines that were previously cut for the theatrical release and that this might be a 'workprint' edition, and thus a Holy Grail of sorts... but my memory of it (when I owned it WAAAY back) is that it's the same as every other version I have ever seen. This website seems to confirms this- http://melonfarmers.co.uk/hitscr.htm
Anyone have any more info on this? Anyone presently own that VHS version? ?:)
Dr. No, what a fantastic film. Im amazed how Connery nailed the character down perfectly, or was that pure coincidence? The same question can be asked about all other aspects of the film, the villain, the Bond theme, the sets, the girls...and quite right that its over before you realize it which means that even the running time of it was perfect.
