One of my favourite audience reaction moments was when I watched SPECTRE at the Cape Town IMAX on opening night. The reaction of audience to line "It's only a matter of time before the South Africans to see the light" was one of much laughter, as was the shot on the news report of Cape Town burning following a bomb blast. This reaction was quite unique, and you wouldn't have got that in any other country, which I thought was fun to experience.

THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN - In the kung fu fight, Bond kicking his opponent in the face as he bows to him got a big laugh. Even my Dad (never a Moore fan) couldn't help but chuckle.
MOONRAKER - Bond's mid-air dive to get the parachute got a round of applause.
OCTOPUSSY - Bond's Acrostar jet's sideways escape from the hanger & resultant explosion got both a laugh & a round of applause.
Gassy Man's post is hilarious - two decades of rubbish Bond films! But I agree with a lot of it.
Big laughter and applause accompanied showings of MR when I was a kid. That sort of happened with FYEO but it was a bit cringey for me, having Bond slap Blofeld's head. The Beach Boys music in AVTAK brought approving laughter and applause at the early showing at Odeon L Square, but watching it at mostly empty the local flea pit cinema in West Ewell, Surrey two months later, boy did it fall flat.
Perhaps because I saw early evening showing of OP and TLD, they didn't get the big audience reaction you hope for. NSNA got a big laugh a couple of times, the urine sample gags and 'Actually, there was this girl from Philadelphia' but the disappointment was already in me, as I had to travel 10 miles to find a cinema where it got Screen 1, Jaws 3D of all things take pride of place in most cinemas.
GE got a big audience vibe at OL Square, esp shouts of 'Bungee!' but I agree with Gassy Man that the audience was laughing at the film not with it when he flies into the cockpit later. Crap.
TND was subdued, but TWINE got a big vibe. DAD, the audience were trying to like it, this was at the Empire Leicester Square. At the tsnami, there was a burst of applause that seemed to be quickly stifled as there was a wave of audible disapproval from other parts of the audience.
I too recall the halcyon days of the 'classic' Bonds, with full-on audience laughter and appreciation, as it appears to me many of the later films seemed hell bent on depressing the audience before we get under way, as if to distance themselves from Moore's era of cheese. I do fondly recall a 1990s free outdoor showing of Dr No at the London Basin on a balmy summer's evening, the largely migrant audience laughing along like it was the premier, in particular the Flashman way Bond sneaks a look at his watch as he is seducing the 'Oriental' gal who is springing a trap for him...
I remember quite a few laughs from the audience in 1971, but I was 11, and many jokes went over my young head...
I was seven, and most of it went over my head, though I do remember giggling at that pool gag. On the other hand, having read about SPECTRE and SMERSH in a boys' magazine, I remember mishearing a line in the movie and believing that Blofeld's actual name was George Spectre. Also, I remember annoying my parents by asking part way through the PTS if the movie had started yet.
Critics and material I don't need. I haven't changed my act in 53 years.
