I won't defend Trump; he's on his own.

Good to see you and me agreeing at least half way ;)

Saw an interview this morning with an American chap who's married to a Mexican and lives in El Paso, he described his choice of candidates as being either " a president who says bad things or a president who's corrupt, I don't want a corrupt president so I'm going to have to vote for trump " what an awful choice to make! Is fair to say that a lot voting for trump don't particularly want him but just don't want Clinton?

It goes both ways. Trump hasn't exactly been an honest, law-abiding person either. People are generally voting for the person they detest less, unless they are voting third-party. But I also detest the third-party candidates.

Well spotted, Chris. Thread closed after repeated warnings. I'll discuss whether it should be re-opened with Sir Miles.

    Edit: And several posts deleted.

I'm going to keep this closed till tomorrow to allow a cooling-off period. I won't hesitate to close it again, this time permanently, if there are any more personal attacks, and there will be no more warnings.

    Edit: Thread re-opened.

When I was in the UK during the summer I found that most of the people I spoke to were going to vote for Brexit. I've just come back from Florida where most of the American's I spoke to were going to vote for Trump. Polls have been statistically wrong for a number of years now and I expect Trump to win.
Yeah, well, sometimes nothin' can be a real cool hand.

Trump has a slight lead now in one poll, for some reason people don't have the courage of their convictions, at the last UK General election labour were ahead n polls all the way through, don't know why people would be embarrassed to say theyre voting conservative?? though with the hysteria surrounding trump I get why they would deny voting for him!

Wow Germany has changed. And since when did Muslims enjoy a few steins at oktoberfest??

Am I the only one who finds it confusing that Democrats are blue and Republicans are red?
Usually conservatives are blue and the left is red. Not that I see the Dems as socialists, but the are to the left of the GoP.

Enthusiast for a candidate for so long is amazing.

It's unbelievable and effectively means the last two years of the incumbent President's term are ineffectual.

I saw a comment the other day which I thought was very true. Apparently 2 billion dollars have been spent on this election and yet America can't provide decent healthcare for it's poorer population.

I find the whole process of running for President very odd. There is basically a situation now where a very rich man, who has never held a Government post, woke up one morning and decided he wanted to be POTUS. Personally, I don't think thats right. It also seems that the past 30+ years have been dominated by the Bush/Clintons (with the exception of BO). It seems to be a strange form of democracy.
