Well, as long as he's waving the flags of our fathers ....

BTW: did you hear Trump's speach about the economy? He actually seemed like a sane person there, for a moment :)

In my opinion Trump did ask people to shoot Clinton. He said that if Clinton wins the election she will apoint supreme court judges who favour gun control. Then it will be to late, there is nothing we can do. Then he said the people who support the 2nd amendment could do something ....

Later some of his supporters have claimed Trump only ment those people should use their votes. No he didn't!
Trump clearly talked about a time AFTER the elections. This man is dangerous. He asks a foreign power to spy on his political rival, he asks them to shoot her. He has no shame and no sense of right and wrong.

Trump was a bit of "comic relief" at the beginning but now being so close to the presidency
It's terrifying. :# I really do think the guy is unstable.

Trump should be in a jail cell & Hillary should be doing community service.

I have read about the latest development in the Clinton e-mail scandal. Really stupid and irresponsible. I keep thinking if the GoP had chosen a good candidate with appeal to traditional Republican voters, centerist undecided voters and Democratic voters who look for other candidates because of the scandals around Hillary Clinton they would have a good chance of winning. Just a good old-fashioned conservative like Bush Senior. I would even consider favouring such a candidate. But instead they chose Trump who even pushes away key Republican politicians .....

Yeah, I don't think this is in doubt at all. If it were Kasich as the nominee, she would likely be down a good 10 points.

What I really don't get is why the establishment wing of the Democratic Party couldn't find a better person to run for a third term of Obama. They easily could have Kerry or perhaps Biden fill the same role as Hillary did, and do it better because they don't have BS or true scandals attached to them. Hillary was a really risky bet for the establishment.

I'm not sure either party could have nominated more controversial candidates than they did. Perhaps Bernie Sanders (COMMUNIST!!!) would be more disliked by some, I don't know who would have been worse in the GoP ....

People might dislike his policy positions, but honesty and trustworthiness is something that seems more important than anything else in politics.

Yes, but since Americans still ask Scandinavians: "Do you have freedom in your country?", the word socialism still scare many in the US.

That was definitely the case 10 years ago, maybe even 4 years ago, but I'm not so sure of that now.

It's also worth pointing out that Sanders was leading Trump in nearly ever poll by more than 10% points, while he was still a candidate.

In much of the world the distrubution of wealth is far too uneven and more and more people are opposing this and this is much of the reason Sanders is so popular.
At the same time many white people who grew up middle class feel left behind. They were often working in the industry, they started working early and didn't get much education. Now they are unemplyed, they feel people from other ethnic groups and countries take their jobs, their values are under attack and now they are angry and vote Trump. If news reports are accurate, Trump rallies are extraordinary aggressive - they seem fueled by anger.

There are a lot of angry people out there. Who genuinely feel forgotten by the elite,
    Either political or wealth. :#

Some scientist Johnny has tested several famous people ( Past and Present) using a
Standard Personality test and apparently Trump is a sociopath, two points ahead of
Hitler, and only beaten by Saddam Hussein ( H Clinton was number 11) ........... I'm
Guessing this was for some university jape.

I think Trump being born into wealth and whatnot colours that a little bit.

Colour me Rich, baby ! :D

Jesus also made the list, ;) so I honestly can't say how scientific the test was.

The time of debates betwwen the two parties presidential candidates is getting near. Some might look forward to this, others will fear them. I have seen many episodes of "The West Wing" and I know the candidate and his/her team prepare for this, including mock debates where one person "plays" the oposing candidate. Now spare a thought for the poor soul who has to play Donald Trump in Clinton's mock debates. No-one knows what Trump will say in these debates, including Donald himself! :))
I suspect he even surprises himslelf when he has entered the soapbox in the lst past months. Here is my suggestion: get the person impersonating Donald Trump drunk - very drunk - beforehand!
  • HigginsHiggins GermanyPosts: 16,619MI6 Agent
Well Trump would be brilliant to play the counterpart at the same time :D

Trump could be his own counterpart in his mock debate, since he changes positions so often. One day he had three different positions on abortion in three hours! :))

There has been a recent study that revealed during his diatribe.... Er I mean statements Trump tells the whole truth 4% of the time and the partial truth 11% of the time. A perfect modern politician then?
It was either that.....or the priesthood
  • Number24Number24 NorwayPosts: 22,331MI6 Agent
It's easy to revert to hatred of politicians here, but isn't the reason Donald Trump's behaviour is getting so much attention that it's worse than what we usually see?
I guess there are a few politicians who remind us of him, such as Berlusconi in Italy and the Duterte in the Filippines, but most of them rise above that kind of behaviour. I know I'm not having "cool" opinion here, but I think I have a point.

Is it a prerequisite that to run as a politician you have to be loathsome? I'm not sure yet about Theresa May, but I struggle to think of a decent British politician in prominent service. And as for the rest of the world? 8-)

I have to agree, at least to a point. Both parties have chosen very controversial candidates. They should do better!
When will the American people remember that politics is often the art of compromise? Ronald Reagan, the great hero of the GoP, knew that compromise is often a necessity and often a virtue, and not an act of treason as so many seem to believe today.
