Hillary Clinton just called half of Trump voters “a basket of deplorables” that consists of “the racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic – you name it.” That's not a very smart or presidential thing to say, is it?
Another thing that struck me is that Hillary Clinton sounded like and even looked a bit like Trump in the video clip in the article below, including hand gestures and facial expression :)) :#

    Hillary's recent breakdown is alarming.

Don't get me wrong - imo there is not a single reason to vote for Trump, but obviously she's not in good shape - and I am not speaking solely about yesterday.

I am not buying the pneumonia thing - not sure if the stroke rumors have some substance* ( how she stares really worries me)

I think that it's time for the Democrats to consider Plan B, may be Sanders - or Kerry (my favourite).

To our US agents: What would happen if Clinton could not run up at the end. Will the elections in November still be held, or will the campainings then be extended and the voting date postponed?

*Republicans have a tendency to spread false rumors - anyone remember the Obama-not-a-US-citizen thing??

Yes, the election date is set in stone, it wouldn't be adjusted if a candidate dropped out or the like. American elections are extremely inflexible.

What would happen is that the Democratic National Committee would reconvene and the party officials would each cast one vote at a special meeting and the winner is whoever gets the majority. I imagine John Kerry, Joe Biden, and of course Bernie Sanders would be likely to pick up her mantle should she she quit (and she would have to withdraw herself, they can't and won't force her out).

    Thanks for that reply.

I was wondering what would happen too.

Hilary's health is a concern. Even before her collapse, I had said a few times to my hubby how dreadful she looked. Her face puffy and her hair seemingly not done.

Doesn't she have a history of blood clots? so TIA's and strokes are a possibility.

If there is an underlying health condition she needs to be honest with herself and the American people and not let her ambition get the better of her.

Agree that Hilary should stand down for the benefit of her nation if there are major problems with her health. The world does not need Donald Trump as US president.

Hillary standing down would give Trump a bigger advantage. We can't say that Hillary has major problems with her health if all she has is pneumonia. If you don't believe that, whatever other health problem Hillary may have isn't as serious as Trump's mental health problems.

    Sorry, Matt, but I disagree.

It's pretty obvious that she has health issues and that will be the key factor that the republicans will be riding on for the next week.

IMO, she should step back immediately for the good of the country/planet and make way for Kerry.
Not many people want a PotUS with a knockered health.

Cilinton having health issues is a scenario where I can see a realistic chance for Trump to win and we'll be all doomed then :#

There is obviously something not right in the Clinton camp and it's not being addressed very well by her people.

First it was allergies and her increasing her antihistamines. Then it's dehydration. Then it's pneumonia ....

Now there are all the conspiracy theories about her having a body double.

It's all getting a bit out of hand.

In a desperate attempt to deflect attention from Hillary Clinton's recent gaffes, I'll post about an even more serious topic: the possible future Trump Oval office :D

Here is a picture from Trump's home (one of many, I guess):

No, this isn't from the palace of a Saudi prince or Liberace's home :))

If you watch the film " Self\less" Ben Kingsley's New York apartment, was filmed in
    Trump's New York home. ;)

Ahhhhhhh .... the perfect combination of enormous riches and no taste :D

It's astonishing how badly Hillary is campaigning now. The perfect combination of elitism and distrust towards the media/tendency to keep things a secret.

Most Americans have always said that both Candidates, would not have been their first choice. :#

One of the downsides of a two-party system, I think. Still far better than a one party system, obviously, but 6-7 gives you more choice.

There is more choice than just two parties. The US has other parties, but they have even less direction than the two major parties. I'd say the two major parties have been lowering themselves to the level of the other parties these days.

Perhaps, I don't know the other parties. To me it seems like the two major parties have moved away from each other, or perhaps the Republicans have done most of the moving?

People have a choice to vote for other candidates, like Jill Stein and Gary Johnson. Both major parties have indeed moved away from each other, and perhaps you're right that the Republicans have done most of the moving. 15 years ago, the two major parties weren't as different from each other as they are now.

Now the first debate between Clinton and Trump is finished. Because the debate was aired in the middle of the night over here and the slow access to the internet today, I have seen very little of the debate. However the media I have read (surprisingly, not Fox News :D ) say Clinton was the strongest debater. It seems Trump didn't say anything more outragous than "I have a great temperament", so it's unlikely he will dominate teh news cycle today IMO.

Have you seen the debate and what was your impression?
  • ThunderpussyThunderpussy Behind you !Posts: 63,792MI6 Agent
Same as yourself, I've only seen the highlights but Many do give it as a Clinton win.

The first Trump/Clinton debate is over, but because it was aired at night here and the internet is slow I haven't seen it yet. The media I have browsed agree Clinton was the stronger debater, but I assume many disagree. From what I've read Trump didn't say anything more outragous than "I have a great temperament" :)) , so the news cycle today won't belong to him.

What are your impressions and opinions after the debate?

    I see ....
But most people did see this debate on TV and they liked Hillary, so one being best on TV and the other radio is not an issue now. I still don't understand what he's getting at. Also, she has no beard growth. :))

I have still not managed to watch the debate as I have been in work but it's good news if Clinton did well. Hope her health holds up from here on in.

Yeah, that was a throwaway remark. In the Kennedy v Nixon debate, those who listened on the radio thought Nixon had it, those who saw it on telly gave it to Kennedy. Doesn't really stand up I know.

They were discussing that famous debate last night. Saying Nixon had been very sick
From an infected knee injury and getting out of his car to get ready for the debate he,
Again hit his knee ! He also refused to wear make up. Hence why he was sweating so
    Much and looking shifty.
