First Sunspel Order Impressions

I found myself on the Sunspel website on Monday and noticed that they had a sale. I had yet to order a riviera polo and figured now would be the time. Before ordering the navy one at full price, I saw that the grey melange polos (both short sleeve and long sleeve) were on sale and still available in size medium. I placed my order Monday afternoon. It is now Wednesday afternoon and the package was already delivered here in the states (UK to US in 2 days!).

After trying on both of them, I am very pleased. The material outdoes any polo I currently own and the medium fits pretty good. I am 5' 11", 185 lbs, wear a 38R for a suit jacket, and have a 33" waist. It is a little wide in the waist and just a hair longer than where I usually like my shirts to lay, but the comfort of the fabric makes up for it. Unfortunately, I think sizing down to a small would make it too tight in the chest and arms, so I will stick with the medium.

I am concerned about washing them because I have read on the forum multiple different ways to do so, and ideally I would like to get the longest life out of them! My only complaint is that soon after I ordered them, the long sleeve went down even further in price.

Enjoy! I've pretty much replaced my stock of polos with Sunspel Rivieras in a variety of colors (with some Orlebar Browns thrown in). They're fantastic shirts if you have the right kind of physique. The washing instructions caution against drying them in the dryer, and you would do well to follow that advice. If your shirt does shrink, however, you can stretch it back into shape by soaking it in cold water with hair conditioner which loosens the fibers. Then gently put the polo back into shape.

Yup. I would definitely follow the washing instructions, paying special attention to the temperature of the water, no drying, and hand washing. These things act like a sweater, so flat drying is also preferred to hanging, but hanging doesn't ruin the shirt, just stretches it a little.

I've washed mine twice and hung it to dry. It's still the same size and fits beautifully. It has shrunk a litre in the wash, but still a great fit. I love it.

Sunspel are an excellent quality company to deal with, James Brosnan speaks sense. I hand-wash mine with a hand wash detergent in luke warm water, reshaping when wet and leaving to dry naturally, absolutely no tumble dryers or hanging on radiators. Enjoy your new shirts they are top notch.

I machine wash (delicate cycle) mine and lay flat to dry with no issues.
