Magnoli Spectre Trousers (London/Mr White)

Indy MagnoliIndy Magnoli Somewhere in the PacificPosts: 430MI6 Agent
For those looking for the Neil Barrett Spectre trousers... we've found a factory willing to do a reweave in a relatively small amount (for them)... which would be enough to do about 50 pairs of trousers. The cost would be $230, fully tailored, including shipping. Here is a handloom woven sample we had made up:

spectre-handloom_zps2b8clzxb.jpg

We've also got an original pair of trousers (same design, but different fabric), so the pattern will be spot-on. So... the question is: Is there enough demand to have this fabric made? Let me know...

Kind regards,
Magnoli

Great news, Tony! I'd be in for a pair as well. If you've got a pair from NB to make the pattern, can you have these made in standard IT sizing (46, 48, 50, etc)? I would think fully tailored on a simple pair of trousers is a bit of an overkill. We'd all likely need to take them to a tailor to get an exact hem length anyway.

    Kind regards,
    Craig

Maybe it's just me, but I'm not seeing the alternating colors in the tic weave. To my eyes it looks like a solid charcoal colored weave with flecks of the lighter grey or white color as opposed to a black alternating with light grey weave. Maybe it's just pulled back or I misread and miss saw the examples given in the threads and on Iconic Alternatives and on Matt's blog.

    But if it's the real deal, count me in -{

Good point well made about tailoring.

Please correct my if im wrong, but the original NB pants have a little stretch in the fabric. Will it be the case with this replica?
I also agree that the pattern of the NB is slightly different.

Here is a comparison, I think Indy has done a great job. Not sure if it can be made closer? Its kind of strange and I would not know where to begin to even describe this lol

The construction looks very different in those two images, but the effect is very similar.

Indy, and all of you. One of our luminaries approached Neil Barrett a while back, and one of their team told him that they had a bolt of the original material. However they were reluctant to make a rerun of the trousers, and then after much radio silence, another contact from Neil Barrett subsequently denied that they still had the fabric. However, if we make a concerted effort, we may be able to either persuade them to make a new run, or, perhaps, we could buy the material from them, and Indy could make his run from it. Now this is a massive long shot. And, even if they do, they may be very obstructive in letting us get hold of it. I, myself, have had no contact with NB, and have no way in, but I don't know if one of our more persistent and persuasive readers might start a new campaign to find out whether the rumours are true, and if we could get the ball rolling on getting hold of the material,or even get them to start a limited rerun.

    Cheers,

    Blair

I do think that the comparison highlights the differences, but I do like the overall color of Indy's sample.

Thanks for taking the time to post up those shots Welshboy!

The original NB material looks like it would be difficult to source and I think Indy's material is probably the closest we'll get - from a distance, I'm guessing it will look very similar to the original trousers, except to eagle-eyed Bond fans. I would advocate a push to obtain the source material from NB, as Meesta Bawnd suggested, though unfortunately I'm neither persistent nor persuasive :p.

I'm still trying to source an original pair so we can improve our weave, otherwise that may be the best we can get. I'll keep you all posted!

As for the MTM vs OTR sizing, we'll most likely just stick to the MTM since that's what we do. That being said, there's no reason why you couldn't just give us a few basic measurements and we'll proportion the rest based on the cut of the originals.

Didn't someone here actually manage to find a pair? I feel like that would be our best bet as to getting as close to the original as possible.

Yup - Kadd I think. Whoever it was anyhow I zoomed in on their pic - which is what I used for the material comparison above ^

When could we expect a run of these? Been trying to hunt a Neil Barrett for about four months and no success.

Indy, I also would be in for a pair of these. I picked up some M&S cheap alternatives but they are a bit lighter than I wanted. Kadd was definitely the one who tracked the sa pair down - great detective skills btw. His thread is listed below.

Hopefully he may be able to assist with these.

Kadd, can you please confirm that the original NB fabric has some stretch? Thank you.

I'm in for a pair of these. Would also welcome insight into how much stretch in the material of the original and reproduction trousers.
