I wonder if at a labour Meeting, does Jeremy sit at a long table, backlit, and speaking
In a soft voice ...... "Sit Down ! Don't let me interrupt you " :D

Yes, and she is totally anti-democratic in that she tried to legalise abortion in Northern Ireland through the back door by tabling an amendment to the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Bill 2008. Thankfully this amendment was "talked out" and ran out of parliamentary time. This was actually due to horsetrading between Prime Minister Gordon Brown and the DUP Northern Ireland MPs who backed his 42 days detention clause in a Bill earlier on in 2008. Surely this is very sensitive matter of legalising abortion matter for the politicians and people of Northern Ireland and not a left-wing Labour backbench MP? A truly vile woman. X-(

I really think there is a geographical split in Labour. In the Midlands and the North, labour supporters
Seem to want a more left wing party, while in the South of England they seem to want it to be more
    Right wing ?
So no matter how this works out, I think the Labour part is going to lose members to other parties.

You're right, the south seem to be the new Labour Blairites while further north are the anti establishment socialists. I wonder if the lib dems will profit from labours demise?

Some British General Election archive footage (another passion of mine, sorry). :D

This brilliance from then PM James Callaghan MP at the 1979 General Election count needs to be seen by everyone with an interest in UK politics:

Saddened to hear of the downfall of Keith Vaz- I had always respected him as a man of integrity and drive.

Yes, I thought so too but it seems he's been rather reckless with his political career. Will he be able to hang on as an MP I wonder?

    Possibly, though I doubt it.

Vaz was definitely a shining light in Labour.

Interesting to note that he sits on the NEC (holds the Black & Minority Ethnic Labour seat) and is (surprisingly) not hostile to Corbyn even if he's not an ally (he's backed Smith in the latest contest but was a vote in favour of Corbyn remaining on the ballot).

Perhaps he'll be able to hang on. I certainly hope so.

    From Blackadder 2 .....

Blackadder: Right. Now all we have to do is fill in this MP application form. Name: Baldrick. First name...?
    Baldrick: Er, I'm not sure.
Blackadder: Well, you must have some idea...
Baldrick: Well, it might be Sod off.
    Blackadder: What?
Baldrick: Well, when I used to play in the gutter, I used to say to the other snipes, "Hello, my name's Baldrick," and they'd say, "Yes, we know. Sod off, Baldrick."
Blackadder: All right, right right right right, Mr. S. Baldrick. Now; distinguishing features... None.
Baldrick: Well, I've got this big growth in the middle of my face.
Blackadder: That's your nose, Baldrick. Now; any history of insanity in the family? Tell you what, I'll cross out the in. Any history of *sanity* in the family? None whatsoever. Now then; criminal record...
    Baldrick: Absolutely not.
Blackadder: Oh, come on, Baldrick, you're going to be an MP, for God's sake! I'll just put fraud and sexual deviancy. Now; minimum bribe level...
Baldrick: One turnip. Oh, hang on, I don't want to price myself out of the market.
Blackadder: Baldrick, I've always been meaning to ask: Do you have any ambitions in life apart from the acquisition of turnips?
    Baldrick: Er, no.
Blackadder: So what would you do if I gave you a thousand pounds?
Baldrick: I'd get a little turnip of my own.
Blackadder: So what would you do if I gave you a million pounds?
Baldrick: Oh, that's different. I'd get a great big turnip in the country.
Blackadder: [someone knocks at the door] Oh God, I'll get that. Here
    [pushes paper to Baldrick]
    Blackadder: , sign here.
[motions where with his hand; Baldrick marks an 'X' on Edmund's palm; Edmund presses his palm against the application

I must say that I'm a bit shocked about David Cameron's stepping down as an MP (for Witney, west Oxfordshire) yesterday but I suppose it was inevitable given how the new PM Theresa May has changed so many of his flagship policies. According to the newspapers today Cameron wanted to have the freedom to criticise the new May government and its differentiating policies from outside of Parliament by giving up being a backbench MP.

Yes, May hasn't seemed to do very much so far. If Labour had a functional leader, I doubt she would be doing tremendously well in the polls.

She does have a decent cabinet though.

Labour are a joke - and not a very funny one ! They are already un-electable and in danger of disappearing altogether !

You could be right there. She's been the PM for two months now and not a lot has happened in that time. We'll have to wait to see what happens once she triggers Article 50.

Let's not forget it's been the summer break, I for one am quite pleased things have been quiet, I prefer a more business as usual atmosphere to the country as opposed to upheaval and drama. I just wish the good economic news wasn't buried and any slight wobble wasn't heavily reported on.

I did have a good laugh this morning , on a statement from Michael O'Leary ( he owns Ryanair)
As during the Brexit debate here, he constantly said it would be economically crazy for the UK
To leave the EU ............ Now a few months later, he's now advising the Irish government to
Threaten to also leave the EU if they, enforce Apple having to pay their tax bill ! :))
I guess he's just a wild and crazy guy, or he Now thinks The UK Brexit was a fantastic thing. ;)

I had the same thoughts TP.

Arrogant prig. I genuinely despise the man and will never fly Ryanair because of him.

Unemployment is down again! And amazingly Corbyn is arguing against his own education, is it a certainty that if you have less money you are less intelligent or academic?

I too avoid Ryan air, I'm not daft enough to actually pay to be treated badly!
