Ens007. The UKIP party is on my ballot paper. Although I would not vote for them, it will be interesting to see how they do in this election as it could be a measure of the feeling of the voting public with regard to Brexit?

There is afterwards the European elections of course!

I think that Farage's Brexit Party will eclipse UKIP tbh Joshua. If there was any way they could settle their differences & not take votes from each other, then it could be very interesting - particularly in the European elections.

Although I do not really have any faith in surveys the latest ones suggest that the anti EU parties are going to make big gains if the UK takes part in the EU elections. Time will tell on this.

Other people say that it will be like another referendum with Brexit and EU supporters coming out to vote in great numbers.

Be careful Joshua I too posted about the expected gains of
Populist parties, only to be accused of peddling fake news :D

The EU should be asking themselves why so many are unhappy.
Perhaps bring in some reforms ? ..... what am I saying it's the
EU, No Reforms are needed. It's just the people don't understand
How much good is being done for them. :)) .. silly, stupid voters.

I know that you like to blame the Eu for everything, but the uprise of populists parties has many different causes*, so I‘d say that this has little to nothing to do with the EU.

And you post was about a radical party in Finland that has slightly lost in reality.
Maybe it‘s about time to accept what really happened.

Ah yes, the post you said I posted as a celebratory one ? Which you then edited ........ who's posting fake news now ?

Here's another story on the winning of 39 seats by the populist
    Party in finnland
If they haven't won these seats I will of course apologise for any
    Misrepresentation I may have given.

All political commentators are predicting an increase in votes
For populist parties, except Higgins. So let's wait until the EU
Elections and see who is correct ;)

    Again, you are wrong.

Matter of fact is that I fear that populists will be rising over most european and not-european countries in the years to come.
I have never said something else.
You should read and understand my posts instead of furiously just hitting back in your blind EU hate - or hate for me

You have used the example of the fin right party by saying that they rose.
Matter of fact is, they have lost by 0,2% compared to the previous election in 2015.
So your claim about the uprise of the fin party was wrong - fake - manipulative.
Repeating anything different just makes you look bad.

And I still find it nasty to celebrate the ‘success‘ of populists and wrong to ‚ punish‘ traditional parties by voting for radical nationalist populists.

At the end of the day, our democratic system is not perfect but the best that we have.
We should protect it instead or destroying it. *
Populists have nothing in mind then destruction and notjing good comes out from them.

    Feel free to disagree

*And just replace ‚democracy‘ With ‚EU‘ and make the same case

    others carry on {[]

or you can just edit your post again, to make whatever point you want, change

Although Peace and love to all, even those who can't see the rise of populist parties
and instead of confronting the problem. Bury their heads in the sand claiming, all
the reports of their increasing vote is just fake news ;) There is No problem, all
    is well :))

What a good thing it is that our site has a delightful PM system! There is much to be explored using its fine facilities, and it is surely to be praised that Higgins and Thunderpussy can further follow their foray into their discussion by this means thus allowing other matters to dominate this thread.

I wonder what my British friends think about the latest reports that several Labour figures are asking Brexit supporters not to vote for Labour?

Seeing as there are many Labour voters who also voted Brexit, are they not playing political Russian roulette?

It is only my own opinion but I don't think the people in my town who voted Labour but also for Brexit will need to be reminded not to vote Labour. They will not vote Tories or the Liberals, so who do they vote for? Push people, be perceived as ignoring them or acting only in party interests and it is logical that people will turn to those who think will listen. This is where things begin to get dark.
Again it is only my opinion but I think with all the foolishness in parliament many thousands of votes are being gifted to UKIP and others.

There are many voters who feel abandoned by the poliricuans they voted for! And that surely just.means a protest vote heading in The Brexit parties direction.

The polls seem to show a lead for the Brexit party. With many Conservative members
refusing to even take part in the elections :))

One of several Things that strikes me when Reading this thread is how nice it would be having members from more countries. Italy, Sweden, Poland, Spain, etc. There are so many countries just in Europe we don't have prolific members from (or have I forgotten someone? Sorry if I did). The British Isles and North America dominates, and we're glad they're here, but more diversity would be good. I'm mainly thinking of the James Bond and social side, but also this thread. There are 27 member states of the EU that haven't decided to leave, and Higgins is often the only one to make the case for the EU. It seems obvious to me that there must be some good reasons for them to stay, and it can't be fun all the time to be alone in reminding us of this.

Not all the time, I think.

I have a challenge for TP and Higgins:

    - Can TP post at least one positive thing about the EU?

    - And Higggins posts at least one negative thing about the EU? (that's a negative thing the EU's doing, not something that's happened to them)

Irony, jokes and sarcasm is cheating!

Keep in mind that I am currently in Hong Kong - currently sitting in a crowded bus from Wan Chai to Tsim Sha Tsui. And it‘s almost bedtime.

I think that I have already posted several times negatively about the EU.
I could make an easy punch by saying that allowing the blackmailing and cherrypicking for the UK was a big mistake.

A big problem is the possibility of one country blocking EU decisions- another thing would be the lack of communication to the voters which is up to the national governments.

I think the EU have missed the bus of popular opinion in the UK and some other member states.

I was hoping that you where able to read behind this, but I‘ll be more elaborate - just for you, I couldn‘t do all this on a phone in the bus.

It would be better, if the EU would communicate more directly with their citizens, but they don‘t do it for the moment.

Thank you for the explanation. I did misunderstand. However I don't agree with your first point.

The way I have read what you say is that while ever the EU has to have consent from its member states the EU will be too slow and inefficient? Surely the only way to resolve this is deeper political integration? Removing the current need for individual approval or indeed any power of veto?

If I have indeed read your post correctly then that is exactly one of the main things which people in the UK voted against.
