Is anyone here dropping 2 full size from their normal TF size? It feels like I can go either route but 2 size might be too snug.
I couldn't responsibly get in on this project, my wife would have ended me, but if I had, I would actually size down 2. Tom Ford suit jackets are a trim fit for me in size 54, but the measurements for a size 50 in this jacket are actually the same in the chest and a little more generous in the shoulders than my V3 Royale Harrington in XL. After having the waist taken in, my Royale fits really nicely, but I would have preferred the wider shoulders and slightly shorter torso that the chart gives a size 50 for this Tom Ford jacket. I do have a large drop though and maybe it's the waist that has some others dropping 1 instead of 2...
I've had time to measure my Royale V1 Harrington and compare it to the TF Sizing chart sent to us in the emails. The half waist of the TF is 2 cm smaller, the rest matches the size 50. YMMV depending on the individual garment. It seems that the Large Royale V1 = Medium Royale V2 = QOS size 50 (Chart C).

My suggestion is to be assumptiive with what you want in your jacket....as opposed to asking. Giving you permission may be harder than acquiescence of a customer request if you get my meaning.....one last thing, this project extends well beyond AJB and in fact if you want to be more accurate it is a Simon Project more than anything else. At least three other sites had to be culled to get the requisite number etc. I am a huge supporter of AJB but I dont know if I would call it an AJB project. But hey, in reality it's YOUR jacket so you can put whatever you want in it.

I'm in the middle of an ongoing conversation with Luigi.
And I will post his responses as they come.
In my first message I asked him how the jacket will fit compared to other Tom ford items, such as polos and cardigans.
In my second message, I asked him to clarify if the proto is a 48 or a 52 on the sizing chart. Still awaiting his second response, but here is his first response:
"Thanks!
I cannot celebrate now, I'm still at first stage of this program and I wish at the end to make everybody satisfied of that.
The jacket has a different fit than other TF items. I cannot compare to any items right now. Anyway the best would be to measure a similar jacket you may have at home and refer to that to check the measurements of the 48. Mind also that the cardigan is made by a very elastic fiber and the Harrington will not have this property. I tried the prototype and I should be 52, so I can assume is TTS (true to size). But please I invite you to check the measurements of the chest and waist at least, cause the rest of the measurements (sleeves and total lenght) are standards.
Let me know what will come up with measurements.
Regards"

I'm assuming we scan and email all the info to Luigi?
Royale V1 Size L QoS Size 50
Half Chest 58cm 58cm
Shoulders 48cm 48cm
Sleeve From CB 90cm 90cm
Length CB 65cm 65cm
Half Waist 54cm 52cm
To paraphrase Yoda, "Labeled size matters not!" If you want confused sizing, try Belstaff.
However, it's still confusing that the chart claims the prototype is a 52 when it definitely is not.
Yeah ive always scanned and emailed it all
Which ptobably means similar to a Royale V3 Large...

Compare measurements to TF chart (convert your inches to cm)
On the chart Chest is pit to pit measurement
Not really...it's because you just want to spoil it all for everyone 8-)

Ergo,I'm going with a 46 (like Mantis)
Are we about the same size in other things?
Mantis- you tried the prototype on, are you really
going to go down 3 sizes?
Now that the prototype is officially labeled a size 52, I'm thinking about going with a 50. I have a feeling it will end up being true to size.
