    Great video David. The fit of the 46 is more you. -{

Nice almost mention of the TF polo project.

Were you part of the small reorder group or was there somehow a 46 available?

Nice gingham shirt during the unboxing portion of the video. I've been looking for a good gingham shirt. What brand was it?

There was a 46 that was unclaimed...I lucked out....the shirt I am wearing is from Mettler's...a USA made brand.

That's what confused me, David. We all paid ahead of time so someone either was given a refund after production started or someone size 46 cancelled but the jacket was still made. In any event, since you didn't join the reorder you were indeed fortunate.

    Ross, the 48 does work better for you. Thanks for the comparison pics. -{

If anyone is interested pm me as I will likely have a brand new size 52 for sale and will be open to offers...
Buttons on cuff moved (by TF London) to hold the sleeves better at the wrist (about 1.5 cm in), I have a 7 inch wrist and worn with a 45mm planet ocean.
As this thread covers very well, ideal for a loose fit on a 42 chest and a fitted fit for a 44 chest...
For the record I am not looking for a profit, so sensible offers considered...
Chance to grab one of the rarest / most iconic Bond / Craig items under the original project price...

    Pictures on request.
Jacket runs true to TF sizing chart found in this thread, bar about 1/2 an inch less in the chest and the waist
    Skewered, one sympathises...

    1. CR. 2. TSWLM. 3. LTK. 4. GF. 5. SF.

I figured this would be easier than searching the thread for the sizing chart!

I'm not intending to resurrect this thread, but I wasn't sure where else in the forum to share my thoughts, so commenting hoping to get advice from people who went to TF to tailer their harringtons.

I got Harrington from the 2nd run, a size 52 based on the recommendations of many. My chest size is 41-42" so I thought size 52 would give me the normal look with Feliex at the bar. However after getting Quantum Royale Harrington size Large I realized the fit is much better and I kinda regret not sizing down and maybe getting 50

I went to TF boutique in Chicago (about 6 weeks ago) to check what options I have for tailoring as I need the sleeves to be adjusted anyway, but the people who work there were not welcoming at all. They first said that we are not charge for any online orders, so I tried to clarify that this is not an online order from 3rd parties but from TF Milan, showed them all the papers and receipt, and later the manager came and told she'll look into it. After checking the product # she mentioned she wasn't able to pull any information and told me to come later in mid week as weekends are reserved for clients who buy from the store! Although I have called them 3 days before asking if I can come in for tailoring and the store was empty at the time of my visit.

I was very shocked honestly as the three people there were not helpful at all, I have been to other boutiques in the city but nothing compared to this one. So I'm asking if someone can point me to what I missed in communicating with them or if I'm better off in looking for size 50 and maybe later sell the one I have.

I also have a trip to NYC would it be a good idea to check with NYC store if they are more familiar with Harrington project and all?

Thanks and sorry for the long post

Honestly, it sounds like this particular boutique is run quite poorly and short-sighted. Is it about a single product revenue for making a sale in a boutique or generating a client relationship. I’d make a point of writing a complaint to the Tom Ford website to let them know what happened and that you’re unsatisfied with the services, given your special order. I had a case with a TF collar bar dress shirt where I lost the bar. I went to one boutique that told me to buy a new shirt. I went to another and the manager took the product code and special ordered the bar for me in Dubai, during a trip. As long as the shoulders are fine on your jacket, I personally can’t see there being an issue with them taking the body and sleeves in for you.

If you do go to the NYC store speak to Crystal...she is very aware and supportive of the Bond community and this project. As far as your treatment, I agree with the above...definitely say something about it.

Fleiter you have nothing to be sorry about especially when you received such poor service!

In regards to sizing i understand your concerns as i was stuck choosing between 2 sizes and i went with a 54 because of the shoulder and waist measurement. I figured if those fit everything could be tailored down if need be. At this time i have not had any alterations done to my jacket and i do remember that sleeve alterations are supposed to be free but any other alterations needed you will be charged for :#

I agree with Rixon and The Mantis that you should definitely lodge a complaint as the treatment is unacceptable even more so when you called ahead and the store was dead! If you are going to make a stop at the NYC location maybe call ahead and speak to Crystal and arrange a time to meet with her and that you want to deal with her exclusively! If you decide to just go with a 50 you could reach out to Jared_Nomak as i remember he was selling on eBay a few months ago but i don't know if he still has it?

    Hi

I still have my 50 but decided not to sell it and keeping both sizes, I have been trying to bulk up a little for a film and think the 48 will be to tight then, the sizing has been a bit of an issue but I would not be impressed with that behaviour from Tom Ford Stores

    Ross
  • Unfortunately, there is no such thing as a universal size chart. It would be nice if there was. I own a variety of jackets in a variety of brands, I have a size S, M, L, XL, and XXL, and they all fit perfectly. A lot of people get hung up on tag size, but every brand is different. In fact, every jacket is different. I had 2 Billy Reid peacoats Skyfall style in size L, yet one of them fit perfectly and they other one was a bit baggy especially in the waist. Go figure. I'm pretty sure Every piece that Craig wears is tailored for hm. Sorry about the poor service you received. Hope you get it all squared away.

A little warm in California to wear my Harrington. However it's looking to be quite the bargain as Tom Ford jackets go. Tom Ford is offering a G9ish Harrington on their website for $3350.

    https://www.tomford.com/cotton-zip-harrington-jacket/TFO327-BP054.html

I'm not sure about the stitching on the front of the jacket.

I would agree with you on the bargain aspect but I'm not liking that style of Harrington. The stiching that runs parallel to the zipper is too distracting!

My point exactly. The stitching on the current G9 is too "designer-y."

From a distance the pics of the jacket are fine, if unremarkable. Closer up and the stitching is just wrong. Not just parallel to the zipper, but the way the stitching borders and delineates the pockets is also distracting. The roundness of the pocket stitching is also at odds with the angularity of the pocket flaps.

I really didn't notice the pocket stiching on the jacket till I looked at the Navy version and OMG that's bad! It's like Tom Ford looked at the G9 and thought he could "improve" upon the design by adding a bunch of unnecessary stiching and then charging 8 times the price ajb007/lol
This jacket is not worth a 40% price increase compared to the QOS Harrington jacket! Now assuming Tom Ford is operating at a 20 to 25% proft margin it makes me wonder how long the company can keep raising prices on their products?

If the air temperature is cooler than the body, but there's direct sunlight, your jacket will help cool you off. I have the tan version and love it.

It's unfortunate, but a lot of his more recent pieces seem to be more and more trendy, rather than classic and/or very sharp. Then he has started to add a leather patch on the back to signify the brand to others. A lot of the jackets and sweaters are also becoming shorter cuts, as if to end before the belt on jeans begins. I'm hoping it doesn't continue too far in that direction or simply remains for only part of each collection.

I used to work in retail, both as a salesperson and as management. The service that you received should have resulted in everyone getting fired on the spot. I don't care what kind of store that you're in...a Gap or a Tom Ford Boutique: service is king, and the customer should always be treated with care and respect. I'd definitely complain to the website at a bare minimum, and I'd probably try to find Tom's email address and complain to him directly.

    UPDATE:

First, thank you all for your comments and Mantis for the referral. I apologize for taking too long to reply but here's my update. So I visited TF NYC last weekend, and wow it was a night and day difference, the staff was very welcoming and quick to help. Although Crystal was not there that day, Keith (director of client engament) was very helpful and seemed to be familiar with the project, the tailoring manager was also kind and recommended that I only adjust the sleeves (for free) as the overall fit doesn't require much change and mentioned that it's the intended fit of the jacket. They are going to send me the jacket in two weeks so I'll post another update!

I had the papers and tags but they didn't ask me for them. I'm very pleased by their service and happy I got it all done within an 45 minutes during my short NY visit.

Glad to hear that you had a way better experience at the NYC boutique! When you had the sleeves adjusted did you have them shortened or was it an adjustment to the cuffs?

So I was wearing the Royals fulmwear katest version the other day and couldn't stop thinking "this collar is so high", which I didn't think was the case on the previous Royals versions. Can anyone with the TF confirm if the collar really is this high on the genuine one ? Maybe I should have gone for TF one ...

I would say it's a little higher than the Tom Ford Harrington.

My Version 1 Royale's collar sits a hair higher than my Tom Ford, at least it feels like it does. The upper border seam on the Royale is a little thicker and stiffer.
