Is Spectre's story the worst decision in EON's history?

I thought about Die Another Day, but that's only one film. Diamonds Are Forever is at the tail end of the trilogy. At least we had 2 good movies before it.

Now Spectre, on the other hand, at most, gives us 2 more films based on a horrible plot. At the very least, it undermines the plot of Craig's previous films and precludes a good trilogy altogether.
