The rules of the game ?

Murder mystery movies have rules, like if some makes a call saying. They can't talk at the time
but would tell evertning they knew, later ...... means they are going to die. Or in Horror films after
Hitting the masked killer, victims just assume he's dead ....... only to be suprised when he pops
Up again later.
So has anyone noticed any rules for the "Espionage" genre of movies ?

In JB movies the villain never does what is needed ie: just kill JB, instead leaves him in some precarious situation never actually waiting to see if JB is killed, they deserve to fail to be honest

To be honest I can forgive them that little mistake. As evil organisations don't just
Run themselves you know. I'm sure the villain has a meeting or two to attend.

I think in most spy stories at some point the hero discovers an old trusted friend is actually

It's certainly been a growing trend in movies over the last few years.

The "sacrificial lamb" has been a plot point in many Bond films - Quarrel, the Mastersons, Paula and Plenty O'Toole are a few that spring to mind.

At some point, our hero will be apparently threatened by someone who turns out to be friendly (eg the two girls who kidnap 007 In TLD, Strutter in LALD, Lt Hip in TMWTGG... )

Quite often the hero is told officially to stop investigating something only to be told to carry on investigating it unofficially )
