Though founded in 1913, AM is no longer owned and operated by the Brits. With declining sales, ownership of AM has changed so many hands with Prestige Motor Holdings currently owning 39% of the shares. Makes me wonder what's so special about AM?
Porsche on the other hand still owns Porsche, to me it's the little engine that could, it competes with super cars, and has won Le Mans 18 times. Who else has done that?, it's an endurance race that pushes cars to their limits. I guess the magic of Aston Martin is largely because of James Bond, at least to me. Take that out of the equation, and having driven both, Porsche is the better handling car, hands down. And the way Bond drives, there really is no substitute for what he should be driving.
Volkswagen own Porsche, Surley you don't mean the 911 handles better than an Aston? The cayman is probably Porsche 's best handling car and offers better value for money than any Aston new but you'd still be seeing the back of a vantage v8 design is subjective for me Aston make beautiful cars my eye picks out certain design cues that I like, I don't find i get that with any Porsche design except some 50/60's models. I don't think bond would drive any of them in real terms.

Admitted I am an Aston addict, but in all things cars / bikes, the "best" is defined by so many varying opinions / stats / numbers... Often they mean nothing in real world driving / riding
A 911 is undeniably quicker a to b than a v8v in statistics, but filter in that everyone lets you out at junctions in an Aston (just to hear it / follow it) and real world the Aston is quicker, very few let out or even notice the 911 )

Modern day VW is the owner of Porsche AG. However, VW is owned by a holding company called Porsche Automobil Holding SE. It is confusing on propose: families will own a stake in the companies, and while issuing stock on the sub brand. Is it shady? Very.
I use my Vantage as a daily driver for work and I do enjoy the drive home at the end of the day. -{
The leather / metal smell
The sound of the v8 burbling
The air dancing above the bonnet vents
Makes the driving exp of AM unique
Throw in the Bond connection, and hence why (esp to a Bond nut) we love them

James Bond is a lady, if I ever saw one!
