Do you have to show identification in your countries to vote?

and you have to bring your notification of the eligibility to vote in that particular election/referendum with you to your designated voting station(?), which will be collected by the official checking your ID.

Voting fraud. As there have been cases of people voting multiple times or even

It's the same here in Norway.
Yes, in Northern Ireland you take your photo ID; driving licence, passport, voter ID card etc. with you and the officials at the polling station check it off against the electoral roll. They then score your name out with a ruler and pen to show that you have voted and always check the amount of ballot papers issued with those in the ballot box to make sure that there are no discrepancies. As TP says, electoral fraud was long a problem in NI. These photo ID reforms have thankfully made this much more difficult. You are then given your ballot paper or papers depending on the vote and off you go to the voting booth and when you are done you drop your ballot paper in the ballot box.
You hear people griping that voter ID requirements infringe on people's right to vote, but that's silly....you have to have a picture ID to cash checks, apply for social security, buy a ticket on an airliner or train...

But you don't have to take your polling card. You can just give them your name, confirm your address and you're in.
True, though it says that it may take a little longer to identify you etc without the card. It speeds up the voting process if you do bring it with you to the polling station.
So yes, voter fraud does matter...especially in a tight race. 500 votes decided a very important race.
