T & A Casino Royale bow tie

Turnbull and Asser have recently added a bow tie to their Legends collection. Their description says it's the Casino Royale tie, accurate in shape and materials to the one worn by Bond. Unfortunately, they only got it half right. The shape is accurate, but the material used is silk with a SATIN weave. In the film, Bond actually wears a SHANTUNG silk bow tie, which has a different and very distinctive texture compared to the satin one they are offering.

Me too. Bit of false advertising on T&A's part...That's sales for you. Strange it's disappeared from their website...

Perhaps they've a member on here.

I checked the T & A website last night about 9pm (UK time) and the link had been removed. Just to confirm with the more knowledgeable members, the correct CR tie was sold with the limited edition T & A set? Albeit it is a clip on tie.

Apparently, T&A's bow ties are clip-ons that can also be self-tied. I have an older T&A bow tie that doesn't have this clip-on option, but I haven't looked at the modern ones in person.

That was the correct tie sold with that set. Not a clip on though, it is self tying and it has an adjuster to suit differing neck sizes as well as a clip if you wish to preserve the knot. It was displayed tied in the box as it was more aesthetically pleasing. You could also buy the tie separately for a year or so and then T&A's entire stock was remaindered and sold to TKMaxx. So it doesn't look like it was a firm seller. Probably because some eejits thought it had pulls in the silk )

The T & A bow tie I have with the limited edition set has a red strap which looks a bit odd with the black leaf. I have never tried to untie it and try and self-tie as I would probably make a mess of it. If T & A did release a self-tie black tie like the one in the film poster I would go in for one.

You can order it like that, but it would have to be bespoke to fit perfectly. You need to visit the store.
