I was watching Casino Royale tonight and it hit me that it's been almost ten years since it was made; and almost 10 years, in just a few days from the time I first found this website...

Thanks to all of ya'll for the international internet gabfest about Bond....Here's to ya! -{

    Yes, the 10 years has gone by very quickly indeed.

    I remember the whole period leading up to Casino Royale very well, particularly in terms of our discussions here on AJB - the excitement when the film was announced, the anger when Craig was cast ( :)) ) and the year spent looking out for pics, clips, trailers, posters and all that good stuff in the build up to release, then finally seeing the film and mostly agreeing that it was great. It was a good time, and a terrific rebirth for the series.

    Possibly the last time I came out of a cinema with a film I loved 100%

    I know we all get impatient waiting for a new Bond but I guess DC has not done bad with 4 films in 10 years

    Sadly, I was not an active member of AJB back then. I had been fairly active in my first two years' of membership (2003-2005) but it was quite a while after that before I posted again (2010). I then returned to full posting duties again in 2012 after things went sideways for me at CBn Forums. I'm very glad that I came back here and I think it's a much better (and more active) forum than CBn ever was.

    As for this period of 2005-2006 I seem to have missed what was called the Craig Wars™. I don't know what happened here on AJB at that time but I assume that it entailed all of the fallout about Daniel Craig being cast as James Bond on 14 October 2005 (incidentally my 21st Birthday). I was in favour of Daniel Craig and backed him as the choice from the off-set so I wouldn't have been on the anti-Craig side anyway.

    I've enjoyed it, I've learned a lot, and got a new appreciation of Bond out of it...

    See if you can find the discussion thread that happened on the day of Craig's announcement. I found it a few months ago and had a read through the comments, and it was interesting to see how AJB members responded (mostly negative, I think.) I was also pleased to note that my response was relatively optimistic.
