I just realized I ended my national service 25 years ago - imagine how old I feel
Converting to judaism, that's interesting. I have a question this time too: was your converting influenced (autocorrect: influenza) by your husband's religious beliefs?

No. I finished conversation at 18 ( started at 17). I met my husband in gradschool when I was a whopping 23.(Enter the Blink 182 sing "What's my Age Again.")

Porchetta! I love Porchetta, we are having it on Boxing day with rosemary and garlic roast potatoes.

I used to keep kosher but I no longer do... and I eat bacon... lots of bacon...and shellfish...
I hope you all feel the same Christmas spirit as I do these days. On Tuesday there was a consert where children sang Christmas songs, last night was the Christmas party for work, today I found the last of the presents. I hope we get to keep the snow. Really nice
Due to some military circumstances our family dinner will be small this year. Consequently I am trying to convince the wife to not have the usual fare of ham and turkey, etc, etc...and instead let's cook some prime rib...anything but turkey and ham..I think a nice Beef Wellington is a good idea....

I just had "Lutefisk" for dinner, a typical Christmas dinner in Norway. It is made from aged stockfish (air-dried whitefish) or dried/salted whitefish (klippfisk) and lye (lut). It is gelatinous in texture. Its name literally means "lye fish" (Wikipedia). Lutefisk is served with potatoes, carrots, bacon and pease pudding.

I wonder if Peas Pudding is anything like what we call mushy peas, I love mushy peas.
Here are staff members of the US embassy in Oslo tackling Norwegian Christmas food:
It must be said that I don't associate some of these dishes
with Christmas at all, and all of them lack side dishes.
Here is one video showing how to make lutefisk (but they're doing it wrong X-( ) The preperation of the lutefisk is fine. The fish is usually cod, but other types of fish can be used. My mother says the fish must be served with boiled potatoes and carrots. The bacon should be cut into small dices and warmed on the oven (ad butter if needed). The peas should be mushy peas. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pglwqXosqko
I would try the food that you posted in that photo, but I think I'd have the same reaction as the Americans in the video for the things that they were eating -{

Of course you have to eat bacon, because you know what they say about having too much of a good thing!
