JV suede alternative or Tom Ford Harrington alternative?

Hi all,

Fairly new to the site but absolutely(no pun intended) love it, keep up the good work!

Been looking to buy either an alternative to the JV suede jacket or the QoS Harrington. I have an option for both, either a suede jacket from Zara or a Harrington from m and m direct but wondering which to get as have too many jackets in the cupboard.

Does anyone own both and if so which am I more likely to use more often? I would assume the Harrington but I know someone on here will have both and be able to give me a pretty good answer!

Many thanks!!!

I have both the onfire Harrington from m and m and the zara suede jacket.
The zara jacket is good quality, and has many sa features, it's goat skin suede too. I only recently bought the Harrington after my original lost an argument with a stable door. The onfire is alright, it's lightweight has good features but does have a gingham lineing unlike the sa version, the Harrington will get more use here in the UK purely down to the weather, suede doesn't like the rain. I could recommend both for the money though the royale Harrington if you can find one is probably the one. Both are slim fitting, I got an XL in both and have a 44" chest.

    Knew someone would have both!

Thanks, kind of confirmed what I was thinking. Love the look of JV but thought suede might be an issue. Maybe I wil get the Harrington and look for a cheap alternative to the Menlo instead! Probably a more suitable and versatile option for the UK!

Sorry, one more question, the final pic of the m and m jacket makes the colour seem very light. It's it a very dark navy as the other pics seem to show?

Yes it's a true navy, have a look at this site created by ajb's very own canoe2 who started the bond budget resource thread.

I think the zara jacket is quite hard to get hard of these days as it's a couple if seasons old.

Hi, the onfire is a "classic" navy but leaning more towards blue than towards black/"ink" colour. Forgive the curiosity but where did you find an available Zara jacket at this point in time? I've been looking a while.

Not sure it's the same as the one that a lot of people on here bought a long time ago but it looks very similar. Here's the link

It's essentially the same with added buckle tabs on the waist.

That's what I thought! Certainly not exactly the same but the details aren't bad considering.

Still a bit undecided but thanks for all your help on here. Forgot the onfire option was on iconic alternatives, should have checked there as well. Love that website!

Well there is an XL of the original run on eBay for £18 but with jgregory 's link you can now have a brand new one, all sizes available but the new version has side buckle tabs, other than that it looks the same as the first run zara item.

I have both too! I have the Royale Harrington Version 2.0 and last year's Zara Jacket (without the buckle tabs). I love both jackets, but I tend to wear the Harrington more. It's a bit more versatile and less delicate than the suede (if that makes sense). However, I get compliments every time I wear the Zara. I don't think you'll go wrong with either! :)
