I think the superyacht could be the lair of the villan, moving around the world. He could stay in international waters or near friendly waters. The boat could be the home of the villan, his guards and closest underlings. The yacht could have first rate radars and surveilance, but also machine cannons and even light missliles that appear if the ship is attacked.
Perfect scenario for a raid by Bond reunited with some of his old SBS buddies. As much as Mendes/EON became obsessed with coming up with a bizarre (and unoriginal) scenario in SPECTRE with making Blofeld Bond's foster brother and the "author of all his pain", one would think that something more interesting (and believable) would be reuniting Craig's Bond with former SBS comrades or people in the espionage and black ops world he has a history with. The return of Mr. White in SPECTRE was actually a pretty good idea, but the Blofeld thing really fell flat IMO.

Fun fact: Lindesnes is in the far South of Norway. The last battleship on battleship (Scharnhorst vs Duke of York) combat was at the other end of Norway, just off the coast of North Cape.
EON has applied to be a part of the expenses refund incentive to film Bond25 in Norway! The sum that is distributed to refund expenses has recently been tripled, making it more interesting for foreign filmmakers and EON applied before the November 27 deadline. The film commissionary in Oslo Ardian Mitchel says to the newspaper Dagsavisen: "We can confirm there has been contacts with representatives for the new James Bond movie and they wish to shoot in Norway" He adds: "We have worked with this for a long time. There are realistics chances parts of the next James Bond movie will be shot in Norway. It will be very interesting for Norway and Norwegian film industry if they wish to film in Norway".
The newspaper Bergens Tidende finds reason to believe Bond25 will be shot somewhere in the Vestlandet area, roughly the coast from the towns Stavanger to Molde. I certainly hope so, because I live in that region.
Yes, I think it's very promising. 11 projects have applied for the tax cuts. BBC and sir David Attenborough for "Frozen Planet II", seven different Nordic movies and TV series, a Chinese movie called "Dancing on ice" and the American series "Threadstone" based on the Jason Bourne movies. It looks like Bond is the biggest player in this.
The incentive program offers 25% cuts in the expenses for the projects that are picked. According to the film commissioner EON is looking at all regions in Norway, including Oslo, This is the reason the film commissioner of Oslo is involved. The 11 productions plan to spend 484 million Norwegian crowns (nearly 57 million US Dollars) combined in the country. The Norwegian authorities will pay back 75 million Crowns (almost nine million US dollars) of taxes to the projects that will be picked from the 11.
In 2016 almost all the expense refunds was wasted on The Snowman, but back then the sum was almost half of what it is today. I don't know who benefited in 2017, but most of the money in 2018 went to Mission Impossible and Transformers.
Mission Impossible shot the last action scene in the movie on Preikestolen and Transformers has filmed the end scene on Trolltunga ("The Troll Toungue") so those two locations are taken.
This news isn't a guarantee that Norway will be a location in Bond25. The authorities may chose to give the expenses refunds to other projects or EON might chose another location because it's still cheaper or the locations elsewhere fit the script better.
But I think the signs are very good. The expense refunds seem to favour the biggest projects (The Snowman, MI, Transformers) and Bond is absolutely the most famous among the applicants. It's of cource likely that other project will spend more time, if not money, in Norway. But of the three movies I mentioned only The Snowman spent a long time filming here, so the public profile of a project seems to be at least as important as screen time and time spent filming in Norway.
EON should have a fair idea of the possible locations in Norway after scouting for SPECTRE and DAD. But do EON know what they want? According to one of the links above the location(s) could be anything from Oslo and the surrounding Østlandet region (A city and flat landscapes, hardly any fjords) to the Vestlandet region (fjords and Mountains) and the far (flat tundra, very sparsely populated).
If it's true they are looking at all the regions EON must not know what they are loking for or they want several different types of locations.
Would I be right in saying that New Zealand is less of a chance in being in B25? Now that they've dropped the casting call for the Maori henchman?

It's possible the production drops my country and shoots in your instead. Or they shoot in both countries and pretend it's the same place, like Mission Impossible.
That is interesting that Norway and NZ look the same. Although it would cost a lot more to film here, as Norway would be a lot closer. All the Lord of the rings actors learnt how far away we are when they came over. Distance between us and Australia is the same as London and Russia.

I wouldn't go as far as to say Norway and NZ look the same, but NZ is one of very few countries that can look simular to Norway and vice versa. Like most countries the cost of living is higher here than in NZ, not to mention that your government realized years ago that foreign film productions is a good thing. something that's only gradually dawning on my government.
Many of us want to see the Garden of Death up on the screen, ideally set in Japan. I think CR was the first time we saw rain in a Bond film. One thing I don't think we've seen yet is a city in winter. this can be beautiful and for a large part of the world's population it's exotic. A North European city in snow will be a great novelty in the series, but it could also be a way to show a North American city in a way we usually don't see in action movies.

True. I feel this would be a nice way to have a North American location in a Bond movie. American cities suffer from over-exposure in movies and TV to the point they don't feel exotic to anyone. Filming there in winter with snow will take care of that problem. A car/snowmobile chase in Boston would be something new and exiting.

Living in one of those cities myself I’d love that - I think it would just be too hard for a production that size to plan for. Last year my city was snow covered by Nov 1st but this year we had nothing until January. We actually just got about 4-5in yesterday but this weekend will be in the 40’s and all of that should melt. Boston will be close to 60 Monday and Tuesday. That tends to be typical here in North America. I think even capturing a snow scene like your pics above would involve luck that they happened to be there on the right day.
Perhaps they should do what they often do and film it in Canada?

That's right. There won't be enough time to get in a snowy US city at this time. I live in NYC, and I've lived in Boston. They're unlikely to get any snow in either of those cities at the time of filming. And when it does snow it could all be gone in a couple of days. Perhaps Chicago could still have snow, but Canada is the only safe bet for a North American city with snow in March (or in winter at all).
I'm trying to remember last time the Bond movies had a really memorable set. You know: the vulcano lair in YOLT, Fort Knox in GF, the submarine base inside the oil tanker in TSWLM etc.
There was the base under the dish in GE and the interior of the stealth ship in TND and a few others, but they weren't really grand or memorable. The meteorite room in SPECTRE was mostly darkness.
I believe the Bond franchise has to continue what has defined it and what sets it apart to compete with and do better than Mission Impossible and other action franchises. Making the Scooby Gang into an alternative MI-team or breaking Daniel Craig's bones in wild stunts won't work. Having a set worthy of Ken Adam that has the audience buzzing about it (among other things, of course) when they leave the cinema would be a good way to set Bond apart from the herd.
