Hi all, treated myself to Massimo Dutti Solden style merino quilted cardigan for Xmas. Received it yesterday beautiful item, beautifully packaged but upon opening disappointed that it's too big. I'm a comfortable large in Skyfall Barbour so ordered the 42 as its listed on the U.K. Site. But upon receiving discovered that that's an XL! Comfortably fits a shirt and jumper underneath with room to spare :-( definitely not fitted D.C. style. Now it seems they are out of stock of the item completely.

What to do, keep and tailor or return?

Mate I have the Moncler version and I reckon you will be lucky if you can have it tailored - though if you know a good tailor may be worth an ask.

If not and there is no chance of you growing into it I would return or sell to a larger chap.

It sucks when these things happen - if in doubt on sizing and buying on the web I usually buy two sizes and send back the one i don't want.

You're right schoolboy error. Trying it on again and I might keep it as wearable with extra laying!

I originally bought the XL (it officially arrives via Santa tomorrow ) ) after the assistant in store said I should order it, but found it was way too big when trying it on, so I reordered the L which fits perfectly - much more fitted in the waist.

If you're not 100%, don't keep it - return it. After Christmas there are bound to be many returns d you won't have a problem getting hold of one. -{

I got one of these. I really like the quality for the money but also found it too big in the body. I was able to take mine in with my sewing machine easily with pleasing results....and I have very little skill!
I'm sure a tailor will be able to sort you out.

Okay...disaster averted as item is now back up on MD website and I have reordered the 40 to try the size down. Will report back once received. Thanks to those above for their replies.

Just looking at some of the Boxing Day sales and noted the Marks and Spencer wool peacoat (biker style) jacket, as budget alternative for the Mr White Dior, is on sale. Anyone tried these out? I already have the H&M navy wool bombter that I'm happy with but am tempted by the sale.
