They probably should have picked either the best artist or composition. Then let them work with more images for a final or at least secondary one sheet poster. I like the submissions on this page more than what I'm seeing on the official listing right now. Seems like a lot of people submitted posters. I'm still not finished scrolling down yet.

I second that. One of the main goals in my eyes should have been for the posters to look like sth the official sources could have put out. But with a few exceptions (mostly AJB-users) they all look like what they are: Fan-stuff.
Plus, most of the designs lack a certain punch.

I only ended up saving a few of the poster designs. I see Jeff Marshall put one in.
But I know he could turn in even better with some knowledge of the movie and more images. Perhaps a little art direction as well. This is one of my favorite prints that I own from him.
Imagine if they had him work on a Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall, Spectre, and No Time to Die project. Something similar to his Dr. No FRWL double feature or to that Star Wars Special Edition 3 poster set. That would be awesome. And something we should see from Daniel Craig Bond movie posters since this series is connected from the beginning.
But the artists need to know the tone of the movie. As good as emtiem's poster is.
And also this one.
They are fun and reflect a tone of movie we might not get. And a tone that really hasn't been fully in any of Daniel Craig's Bond movies except in small bits. They remind me of the great OHMSS poster but we all know how that movie ended.
I love the retro posters. It's interesting because back in the day those posters were used as newspaper adverts to promote the films.
Nowadays, many theater chains don't even have newspaper listings...it's all online. I can remember when Thunderball opened in 1965, there was an almost full page ad for the film featuring the classic poster with Connery in classic Bond pose/tux with the jet pack on in the Sunday Philadelphia Inquire Newspaper....and it was only showing in one theater in Philly (this was when films opened first in the big cities). Big or "A" films would open first in LA and NY then slowly to other big cities like Chicago, Philadelphia, Detroit, etc and then eventually everywhere. After a run in the big center city/downtown theaters, the films would then move out into the neighborhood theaters and drive-ins.

Oh yeah totally: as I said when I posted it, mine is in no way a criticism of the real ones or a suggestion of what they should be and I think they are much better for the actual movie. Mine is just a bit of fun and a bit of a remake of the Octopussy one for no other reason than fun.
I'm also quite pleased that not a single has person has given in to being anal and pointed out the plane on my poster has a rocket plume coming out of it, even though the one in the film appears to be a glider. I genuinely thought people wouldn't be able to resist that!

That's why I like yours so much Emtiem. The old style posters showed things for drama and effect that were exaggerated and inaccurate to what appeared in the actual movie, just as you have done in your poster. Seriously, you should start taking orders!

Yeah exactly: I actually wanted to get a bit more intentional inaccuracy in there! Craig on the motorbike was definitely going to be in a dinner jacket until I realised it would be more work ( He is wearing one in the plane though! ) and I really should have changed the Aston's numberplate to JB 007!

I wasn't around to see Thunderball in theaters. But I do remember deciding to see many movies in the 80s by picking what looked good in the movie section of the newspaper. And what looked good was what had a good poster and for a kid that was if it was big in the paper.

I thought Octopussy when I saw the plane. It's an awesome poster. If the movie is good, I'll have to get one.
I keep having up and down feelings about No Time to Die. At first I thought your poster was the contest winner and I was happy. Then finding out that it wasn't I was disappointed. But I would love to see what you can do with a poster from Spectre.

I have had an idea for a Spectre poster I've been meaning to do for ages! I'll try and finally do it now we're all indoors
I also entered the Comp with this entry... I liked the idea of having the Poster in stone with the characters chiselled into the surface like an old monument .....like Bond is :-)
Would look great if reallydone in stone...I might get a stonemason to do something similar.
I am not a graphic designer and knocked this up on a free graphic programme, but I think the idea was good. I didn't get anywhere though. I was a bit surprised at some of the winning entries..some were amazing... and some of them ... well... ok...ish
I just finished designing a No Time To Die fan poster, inspired by the work of Olly Moss. I'm thinking I might continue creating a series of Craig/Bond posters. I hope you like it!

Amazing! Lots of very talented artists -{
Love the images, Sam...not sure how at least one wasn’t picked ?:)
I too love the hour glass image poster -{

What's your other handle?

It was your fantastic poster that gave it away {[]
Another good one. The artist could do a great poster with more movie information and images.

Thank you! I might consider it. I thought I'd wait and see if it gets positive feedback.
