Bond Experience Advice taken on London Trip

Been up in Town for the weekend, and following a viewing of the latest Bond Experience blog, took a trip to N Peal to try on their cashmere cardigan lined in rabbit fur. I expect anyone who tries it on always just groans in sheer delight...

Also tried on the gorgeous Brunello Cucinelli cashmere jacket mentioned on the forum for good measure. "But it's reduced from £2630 to £1840" I reasoned unconvincingly to my other half in attendance. Absolutely gorgeous, it was, too...

Cheers, then,

I have no idea how you walked away from that BC jacket. It looks like it was made for you!

By the way what size BC jacket were you wearing in that picture?

That jacket looks like it was tailored except for the sleeve length. Very good.

Thanks all! Would have walked out with it, but

    a) It's being held for another customer, and
    b) There are 1840 little reasons that I can't stretch to, with other more pressing purchases coming up *cough* Harrington *cough*.

For those of you who have expressed an intererest, the one I tried on is a size 48 (which BC also call a size small). It is the last blue one in the UK. They do have sizes 46-54 in different stores in Vienna, Amsterdam and Italy. I tried a very similar jacket in silver grey in a size 50 to check sizes, and it was just a shade too big. I am usually a 48 at Tom Ford, and a medium at JV, in a Menlo and Barbour.

It is gorgeous, though, and if I had the disposable, I'd be on the phone to Solomeo to have them track one down for me today...

M and L still on sale and available on the BC website...

Like you MB there are 1,840 BIG reasons why I can't bring myself to pull the trigger. Not sure I would get as much use out of this compared to the TF Harrington. But it looks lovely and a jacket people notice.

If it wasn't so fiddly to do it on my phone, I would post the picture of Michael Jackson eating popcorn here...

That BC jacket does look pretty amazing just like you Blair I'm skint to, to much to do in the house. It seems to get made each year so maybe next year.

    On the US BC site it's 40% off...so only USD2698, or GBP2200. :o

Sizes L and XL in stock.

The TF Harrington is looking like a bargain.

It's a thing I see quite often on message boards and Facebook. Someone posts a comment that is sure to provoke a response/debate/backlash, and someone else posts this (or something along the same lines), to show that they're interested to see the comments that follow:

I would imagine your comment about spending such amounts of money on clothing may provoke a bit of discussion here, given the numbers of people here who are happy to do so.

It may seem excessive, but you must put such purchases in context. Obviously it's also relative to someone's income. Before I remarried and had more children I would happily of paid £1840 for that jacket, some people spend more on other hobbies (yes it's a hobby and sometimes a passion) golf clubs, fishing tackle, shooting, off road driving etc in fact a lot of people spend thousands a year on alcohol going out every weekend and a couple of times during the week. So in context spending some decent money on a beautiful piece of clothing is a better investment than on 4 months of hangovers.
It was either that.....or the priesthood

I'm giving Joshua the benefit of the doubt as he is new and has not posted to the Collecting part of the forum before and therefore I don't think is purposely trying to stir up any controversy.

Joshua what you also have to remember is the particular jacket being discussed was purchased by Daniel Craig who is certainly on a larger salary than most of us here. But his taste in clothing is what interests me and others, so we identify, find and discuss those items here.

As Chris mentioned above the worth of anything is in the eye of the beholder. I know many people in my circle, who like you would scoff at that price and declare that no item of clothing is "worth" that much.

It's certainly something that I'm sure many of us have asked ourselves before.

Yes, I don't think Joshua is being provocative, and it is a legitimate and understandable question. I can see why people would be surprised at the cost of some of the things here. It's good that the James Bond hobby can be taken in a few different ways; sticking to reading the books and watching the films and getting into discussions, or collecting the items/wardrobe seen on screen.

I think it depends on what Interests you, I too wouldn't pay those sort of prices for clothes or
Watches etc, but I completely understand those who do. As I have several friends who have
Spent a small fortune on guitars.
I myself have spent a small fortune on cameras and lenses over the years. Anyway, we all
Work for our money, so how you spend it is completely up to you. {[]

Don't get me wrong, as I've spent more than my fair share on Bond clothing/related clothing but £1800 for a jacket? An expensive start to my divorce proceedings!

As TP says though each to their own...and Blair it was an exceptional fit!

I am not to be making truble. I had never nown any clothings to cost so much until i read the persons posts here. I never new clothings could cost so much as this that is all i am saying. If peoples wish to spend money on such things it is there right to.

Just to let any potential interested parties know that the original buyer, who had the size 48 Brunello Cucinelli cashmere jacket that I tried on, and loved, on hold in their London Burlington Gardens store, has bailed, and so Alessandro has said that the jacket is available, should the mood take them.

    Cheers,

    B
