First of all, don't let this become a discussion about the current script writers. This thread is about who can bring fresh talent to the Bond movie series. Please write your suggestions, and it would be very nice if you linked it to their IMDB page :)

Here are some suggestions:

Alex Garland might not have the experience to direct a huge film like James Bond, but he is also a very profilic writer. Ex Machina, Dredd, Sunshine, 28 Days Later

Mark Boal wrote both Hurt Locker and Zero Dark Thirty

Simon Kinberg
wrote several X-men movies, Jumper and Mr and Mrs Smith

Hossein Amini wrote The Snowman (Jon Nesbø adapt.), Our kind of traitor, Drive etc.

Alex Garland is a great choice, maybe partner him up with Matthew Vaughn.

I like Hussein Amini. It's a pluss for a Bond writers to be British and have the feel for the rythm and tone of the accent. At the same time he has an Iranian background, so he knows an exotic culture.
Most of all has a very impression CV, including some top thrillers.

Ideally someone like him writes the plot and some with the right talent as some jokes and develops action scenes.

    lol

Truthfully I quite liked the first Hitman movie, critics be damned. I love Timothy Olyphant and damn Olga Kurylenko was smoking hot in it. Agent 47 however was an abomination of epic proportions

    Steven Moffat and Mark Gattis?
They are the writer's behind Sherlock and Doctor Who.

I have thought of them, yes. But they have actually said in interviews that they don't think they should. They can no longer think of Dr Who or Sherlock Holmes just from a fan perspective, so they want to stay off Bond for that reason. They just want to be fans.

Fair enough. I guess they may also want to go onto shows/films without all the previous lore and fan-base.
Would be nice to see Michael G Wilson go back to screenwriting?

I wish he would. He's credited with co-writing 5 of my favourite Bond films. None of the films since have had scripts anywhere near as good.

    Which scripts did he write.
I know he helped out on LTK, and that was a wickedly good script.

He's credited with the five scripts of the 1980s, and I think all of those movies have a lot going for them, particularly with the stories and screenplay.

But he's not credited for it. He came up with the story about water, which I thought was a really good idea. But QOS had the writers' strike, which meant there were too many people involved with writing. It's seems very difficult, if not impossible to have a good story and screenplay when there are more than three writers involved. Even three writers can be a bit much to work out something cohesive and consistent.

I want someone that can do serious, but be lighthearted... especially after the last two Bond films and even the last four overall in terms of tone. Various people involved with shows like Chuck are obvious choices or even someone like Orci if he hasn't had a hand already (I don't think so, but I don't follow writers credits in movies too closely).

I can't honestly think of anyone writing films today that can bring the panache and sophistication of the older Bonds to life. If you just want a cliched actioner, though, they're all pretty interchangeable. I might have been onboard with Gatiss et al, except this season's Sherlock has been just too gimmicky and overwrought -- it's not Holmes anymore so much as "Look at how clever we are." Perhaps the folks behind "Luther" could give it a shot.

Rian Johnson (Brick, Looper, Breaking Bad) would be my choice to write andto direct; it's a shame he's occupied with Star Wars for now but who knows for the future?

The writers responsible for "Luther" - now that's an intriguing possibility. They certainly know how to build strong characters and ratchet up the suspense. With the right director, a truly interesting Bond film could be the result.

I haven't seen Logan Lucky yet, but the story gets a good press. The script is written by someone called Rebecca Blunt who has no other scripts to her name. But who is she? IMDB says it's a psydonym used by a woman who lives in the UK. She has been in correspondance with Soderbergh and the main cast members, including Daniel Craig. Is she an experienced writer who wants a fresh start or is she really a new talent? EON should keep a close eye on her work regardless.
