ROYALE Filmwear CASINO Ocean Club Trousers

SilverFingerSilverFinger Brisbane, AustraliaPosts: 281MI6 Agent
Gentlemen,

I need your help...

If you hadn't guessed... yes I am working on the Ocean Club / Ted Baker Linen trousers. Seriously, I have no idea how popular these would be, but personally I've looked for years to get a pair for myself and ended up with less than satisfactory alternatives... I have most of the details and I'm at work on them now, but this one particular detail is alluding me.

Unlike most formal trousers there isn't an extended waistband, which means that there's something unique happening at the fly closure. I've scoured the internet for the solution, but I'm appealing to those with a pair of originals. (Shoot me a few images of the fly closure opened up showing the detail and I'll send you a pair of the ROYALE version with my thanks)

Naturally, it's a small detail, but I've long wanted an accurate pair of these trousers for myself, so I'm looking to get it right.

My eyes tell me that there is a 'hook and bar' closure at point 'A', but I'm unsure of whats at point 'B' My feeling is that there is a second 'hook and bar' closure at point 'B' as the zipper does end at the bottom of the waistband. I strongly doubt there would be a button there, but it's possible it could also be a press stud. I'm about 80% sure it'll be a second 'hook and bar' but would love to have the confirmation.

Early days on this one, but as they clearly have a unique closure and no extended waistband some confirmation would be much appreciated.

Many thanks gents, and do let me know if you'd be interested in this project.

I too have looked for a pair of the originals or a reasonable facsimile with no luck.

Would be awesome if you did the shirt too! B-)

A Die Another Day turtleneck (or polo neck) would be good for the winter, if you wanted to do other Bonds' eras.

Thanks a bunch jonny-dh and Blair, I hope it's not too much trouble. Always gracious of collectors with the rare pieces to share the details, especially when it helps someone like me make a replica accessible to others. Top job gents!!

Meesta Bawnd.... You sir are a legend... It appears I was over thinking it, just one simple hook and bar with inner button and zipper. With that in mind as a personal preference I'd probably be wearing a belt with these. Thanks for the confirmation Blair, once these are done there's a pair of ROYALE beater trousers in the post for you :))

I too am looking forward to the trousers, Dan. I just hope the inseam is long enough for those of us over six feet tall.

I hear you, Dan is listening!! ;) The length should be fine and they will be made with the expectation that most will probably need a minor alteration to get the perfect break they are looking for. Certainly, the design mock-up I've produced would need some 'taking up' for me personally, so that shouldn't be a problem.

    Gentlemen,

    A quick update...

I'm extremely pleased to say all aspects of design have now been finalised. After a considerable amount of playing around cooking up colour variations in the kitchen, we have settled on the colour. Blair Ballard (Meesta Bawnd) was extremely gracious in receiving my colour samples to compare with his original Ted Bakers. Blair really went above and beyond to help me out (what a guy!) Consequently, we've settled on the taupe colour. From here we begin to produce the initial sample and while this project is still in it's early days, if you've long wanted an accurate pair of these trouser, don't worry you and me both... stay tuned.

I know right? In Australia we're blessed with about a month of winter and the rest is summer... These shouldn't be too far away and certainly something I'm looking forward to wearing in sunny Queensland.
