WTB: Factory entertainment Golden Gun (signed)

Hi all,

This is my first post here so hi to all...I joined a while back with the hope / intention of finding someone that could possibly help me in my search for a Factory Entertainment (Signed) golden gun (whether that be someone selling here or someone who knows someone selling).

If anyone can help me that would be awesome. I know that they aren't cheap but I'm willing to hear offers and would prefer to buy privately rather than go the eBay route as prices there are just ridiculous.

I'll have to go spend some time now digging out some pics of the very few bond related items I have and post them elsewhere in the forum.
Thanks kindly for your time,
Scott
ps I'm in the UK

Hi Scott, I hope you are well. I don't know why I always feel compelled to reply to GG posts but on the basis that its a habit, I shall reply. All info is of course in my personal opinion and you should do your own research. The FE / GG was a rare beast and they only sold the ones that people pre-ordered and those were generally to collectors. Prices were just a few hundred dollars at the time with a small premium for the signed edition. In reality the signed edition is no different to the normal gun apart from the signature strip on the display case, the wording on the outer shipping box and the authenticity certificate that comes with it, other than that its the same gun in the same case and the same box and blueprints etc. Both editions have gone up in value and a standard mint gun is going for anything between £1000.00 and £2000.00 depending on where its advertised. I think real value is about £1500.00 at the moment. The signed edition is worth a bit more as there aren't as many of them so maybe another £500.00 or maybe £1000.00 extra for the signature gun. There is lack of both guns for sale as collectors are hanging on to them. I recently sold a standard GG for £1000.00 as I needed the cash. I know Texas (kan) on this forum lives in the states and had some signature guns for sale but unsure if he has any left. Worth a mail to him. Be careful to only get the best example with all bits present and make sure the gold plating hasn't faded / rubbed off with being over played with. You will also find that anyone who has overplayed with the gun will have stripped the thread on the trigger as its very soft and breaks easily. There are also a few out there with missing boxes / display stands etc but you can get such spares from existing members. The only spares you cant really get are the actual components such as lighter / cigarette case etc as there aren't any. Good luck in your search and mail me if you want to chew the fat over the FE / GG or the SD / GG. Cheers, Mark

    Hi Mark,

That's very much appreciated so thanks indeed for taking your time to provide that info.
I know a little bit about the gun but it's always good to hear advice from someone such as yourself who is clearly better versed than I.

I think I actually recall when they were initially released and, as with many collectibles, I always look back and think "why didn't I buy it then?"
Luckily I've caught up on just about all the older items I missed out on in the past and if anything I'm a bit ahead of the trend on most of my collectible 'wants' these days.

Anyway, waffling aside, that info is very useful. The prices are around where I was expecting - I may just have to sell a statue or two to fund it as and when I find one available.

I'll certainly bear in mind your points and will drop Texas a PM in the next day or two and see what he says otherwise its a case of sitting tight and seeing if I can find one at a reasonable price.

    Thanks again
    Scott

Thanks Scott, that's kind of you to say. Yes the FE GG was always set to be a collectable due to them selling to people who pre-ordered them. FE have done a few other things but nowhere near as desireable as the GG. There is of course the SD GG but that's even rarer. When they came out at first I think they were 399 dollars and 499 dollars respectively but don't quote me on that. I also think there is little likelihood of getting one on the cheap unless its got bits missing or broken. If it has bits missing like the box / stand / plaque etc its all replaceable but sadly not the real bits like the pen. Also seen a few where the gold plating has faded badly with people handling them and only a thin coat of gold applied. Really expensive to replate at several hundred pounds. Keep looking and one will turn up but more likely to be a standard non signature one I think as they are more popular. Good luck in your search

    No probem at all Mark.

There is also (I hope) another option which is wait around for someone else to make one but seeing as I am mostly hoping to get a signature edition then that isn't really going to help me out! I guess if I wait and wait and no signed versions turn up then I may just end up getting the standard version.

    Thanks again for your help.

Thanks for the heads up Mark, I think I must have seen the same one when it went up yesterday.
