My first memories of Sir Roger are very early and in black and white! Ivanhoe, Maverick and the Saint (which was a favourite of my Mum) were series I watched. The Persuaders - what a great theme tune, set the scene for a smart stylish role which did have an influence in making me want to look and dress smartly when the occasion merited it.
Then when he became an even more stylish, very British Bond, a different but effective change to Connery. The Bond of my late teens/early twenties I loved his portrayal of 007.
Many other, often underrated, enjoyable performances followed and it's a very sad day to lose a warm hearted, generous man.
What an enormous loss! Not my favorite Bond, in fact I think he was one of the weakest Bonds. He missed the animal-like danger that Connery had. But, as a person, he must be my favorite. The man oozes charm, charisma, humor and he was a philanthropist. An overall great human being who will be missed enormously. I will continue watching his Bond movies, that are not exactly Fleming's kind of Bond, but thoroughly entertaining every single one of them. R.I.P. Sir Roger!
Such a sad loss. I have many fond memories of watching Roger's Bond films with my dad back in the day when they appeared on ITV. LALD/TSWLM remain two of my all time favourites. RIP Sir Rog!
I'm crushed right now. My introduction to 007 was as a young kid seeing AVTAK in the theater. I loved that he played the role with humor and grace. No matter how silly the plot might have been, Sir Roger always looked so smooth and suave.
I come here almost every day, but rarely post. Just wanted to express my appreciation for Sir Roger Moore.

Shocking news. Always one of my favourite Bonds along with Tim Dalton. Sir Roger saved the Bond series in the 1970s, along with the British film industry. Sir Roger was blessed with a good long life and he lived it to the full. In the words of Ian Fleming, he certainly used his time, and for good. -{

Rest in peace Sir Roger! To me, Nobody Did It Better! :007) -{
"My acting range? Left eyebrow raised, right eyebrow raised..."
Excellent tribute, BTW. I don't know how many times I've bought a sports jacket, or shirt because it looked like something Sir Roger had worn. He was a strong influence on my fashion tastes as well.

Thanks! He certainly has influenced the clothes I wear. I like large collars on my shirts because of his large shirt collars (but I also need them to balance my large head).
My sincerest of condolences to Sir Roger Moore's Family, Friends and Actors who worked with one of the greatest British Actors who has ever lived, He was James Bond when I grew up and I don't think he made a bad Bond Movie he was the Actor who made me like/love Bond, to idolise Bond as a Role Model and my Character Hero.
R.I.P. Sir Roger Moore thank you for so many great films other than Bond, North Sea Hijack, Cannonball Run, The Wild Geese, TV Series The Saint, The Persuaders etc, etc.
Truly devastating. My heart goes out to Christina and his family. Also to those who worked with him in the many years of his career.
What a life that man lived. His autobiography is a very interesting read. Such details and insight into his life, from his earliest childhood memories. Gonna give it another read really soon.

I hope Bond 25 ends with a dedication to him. Like TND did for Cubby
It certainly should. This fellow's shadow looms large.

This is the day I always dreaded as a Bond fan...when we would lose our first 007.
Sir Rog deserves any and all of our kind words and tributes. And I hope there will be a healthy reevaluation of his tenure as Bond.
No other Bond enjoyed playing the role as much as he did. And that sense of fun is palpable in all of his films.
He is a reminder of a time when our leading men were suave with impeccable comic timing. Leading men like Cary Grant, David Niven and Roger have become endangered species and we are all the lesser for it.
Goodbye, Sir Roger. You will NEVER be forgotten and rest assured you will be more appreciated even more by future generations of Bond fans who will enjoy your Bond films and recall a time when all you needed to save the world was a quick wit, a little sophistication and a touch of cruelty.
"You missed, Mr.Bond."
"Did I ? As you said, such good sport."

Once again R.I.P. Sir Roger Moore.
What I always appreciated about Roger Moore was his willingness to talk about James Bond. By far the friendliness Bond and a fashion icon as well.
You'll be missed Roger Moore!

I was thinking the same thing. Bond should have "In loving memory of Sir Roger Moore" (or something along those lines) at the end.
