Roger Moore sadly passed away today. This is a thread to honour him: gentleman, actor, humanitarian and James Bond :007)

What a lovely, magnificent gent he was. A sad, sad day. Rest in peace, 007

I'm just so glad I got a chance to meet him and thank him for influencing my life, a role model that steered me through my formative years and continued to influence me into manhood. And get this, he was such a great man he thanked me!
I'm in work now and I've had to excuse myself from the office floor to reflect on his passing, it's come as such a shock on a day when we need people like Sir Roger to make sense of this crazy world (in which) we live in...
He also emphasized that the job came with a bonus: A salary of ONE pound and the best thing was that he did not have to share the 10% with his agent
He made me a Bond Fan in 1981 when I've seen FYEO my first time!
TSWLM was my first Bond that I've seen.
He was my hero, he will always be THE James Bond to me.
My hero and a true gentleman! RIP, Sir!
Will watch FYEO with a tear in my eye tonight -{ -{
Dalton - the weak and weepy Bond!
Nicely said Smithers. I'm so glad you and others on here had the opportunity to meet him. Alas I never did but he will always be a role model to me. Will definitely be raising a glass of something to him this evening. -{

Mods, can we move this thread? Surely Roger Moore's death doesn't deserve to be relegated to "Off Topic Chat" on a James Bond forum! I'm appalled that this thread is in this section! The man deserves more!

Hopefully that will work ...
Well, this is where the OP put it. I'd be happy to move it (to the Films forum?) if that's ok with Number 24.

I had the pleasure of meeting him in Melbourne during his 2009 My Word Is My Bond book tour.

That's a lovely story - and so indicative of him...you can almost see the twinkle in his eye as he said it...a true Gentleman to the last -{
Me too. He was always so well-put-together, with his hair always just right and his clothes perfectly tailored.
Goodbye, Mr Bond.

Roger threw everything at the role and played it how he wanted - IMO he's the only Bond that got it 100% correct. Not in a Fleming sense, but in the sense of owning the role in his manner in each of the films he did.
"But James, I need you." "So does England."

"Better make that two."
His Bond films are among my very favorite and I appreciate his involvement with various 007 books, documentaries and DVD commentary tracks.
Outside of Bond, his lifestyle was noble and admirable. A shining example for the rest of us. True class.

I listened to the Prague Philharmonic orchestra LALD thru AVTAK section last night and shed a few tears.
