Roger Moore Tribute

In honor of the passing of Sir Roger Moore in his portrayal of Secret Agent, James Bond. this unique collectible was handcrafted by my brother-in-law in his memory.

The image is meticulously cut into a piece of 3-ply Baltic birch wood that has no voids and is approximately 1/8 of an inch thick.

This artistic process of creating this type of an image is accomplished by the use of a scroll saw and is known to woodworkers as Fretwork.

As you can see from the angled photos, the outline is all that remains after the majority of the wood is removed to create a topographical image of the actor.

Very delicate work that requires constant attaching, repositioning and re-attaching of the saw blade that is approximately the thickness of a human hair!!!

The entire inner outline of each piece is then very carefully hand-sanded to ensure a smooth surface.

The wooden image is 7 ½ x 9 ½ inches with a black vinyl background that makes the image ‘pop’
It is then placed, under glass, under an 10 ½ x 12 ½ dark brown plastic frame.

Very nice! I admire the skills of those who can use exotic tools for very delicate work, and their access to such equipment!
