I don't know if this was posted before, but I came across these images of a place called Duntrune Castle in Scotland. It's located on the north side of Loch Crinan and across from the village of Crinan in Argyll and it is thought to be the oldest continuously occupied castle on mainland Scotland. The Skyfall gateposts were modelled after the ones at Duntrune, but to me it looks like the idea of the house and the whole surrounding estate came from Duntrune.
