Why does Largo throw the intruder to the sharks? I
The henchman could have told Largo some very usual information about 007 and the CIA considering they were speaking so freely in front of him and then let him go back and report to his boss.

Thunderbore ... Bond is a clot - trying to spy, he introduces himself to a Spectre operative as 'James Bond'. He may as well be starring in BlackKklansman. It would make sense for Spectre's first appearance, as in the book, but Largo must be wracking his brains.... hmm, James Bond, might that be the bloke who bumped off Dr No and killed Red Grant and Rosa Klebb during an assignment based entirely around him? Nah, unlikely, just a coincidence...
aha! evidence that Thunderball takes place in a different parallel universe with a different Bond than the first two films.
but in general he's never a very good spy is he? when in all the films does he ever maintain his cover instead of deliberately drawing attention to himself and annoying the villain? he really needs less ego to do his job, no wonder it always comes down to a ticking time bomb with seven seconds left to save the world.
Question? isn't the laser fight in Die another day vs mr kill or whatever his name was, the most ridiculous fight scene ever in a bond movie. I just laughed about how stupid that scene was.
The world is not enough the other day.
It's always ranked fairly low in my list. I've just found it a little half-hearted, and have usually ranked DAD over it. I actually found it to be quite OK this tie around, and definetely better than DAD. The PTS is great and I guess the action all over is not as boring as i remembered it, but I really do believe it suffers from the PTS being the best scene. Still low on my list, but jumped up a few spots.
After a long hiatus from Bond, i decided to watch Tomorrow Never Dies. A good effort from Brozza. He seems more comfortable in the role as Bond and less stiff.
Pros
While a lot of people think Elliot Carver is a hammy OTT villain, i just think Jonathan Pryce, gives the part his all and you can tell he's relishing playing a Bond villain!
David Arnold is on top form in his first film as a Bond composer. I like that he references John Barry a lot as well.
The shot of Bond sitting in his Hamburg hotel room, dressed in a suit with a shoulder holster, waiting for Paris, is a nice callback to Dr No, is very reminiscent to Bond waiting for Professor Dent.
The PTS is excellent!
Cons
The title song is awful! You can hear Sheryl Crow straining to hit certain notes! During the chorus, especially.
Stamper is a bland henchman. Just a bleach blond Red Grant clone. Shame Roger Spottiswoode, cut out the scene with Stamper killing the CCTV guy on the stealth ship, by stamping on his chest. Would've given him a memorable henchman trait.
The scene with Bond and Wai Lin at the end, felt shoehorned in! I felt there was no chemistry between Bond and Wai Lin, for that to happen.
The use of the Bond theme is random.

Have you ever heard of the Emancipation Proclamation?"
The world is not enough for our next podcast. I remember liking the movie more than I did during this last viewing. Brosnan is in good form, they try to do something different with the villain/plot but still it left me a bit underwhelmed. Still an enjoyable movie though.
GoldenEye. Not as good or thrilling as I remembered it to be, but still Brosnan's best i.m.o.
Also watched it on UK TV despite having it on virtually all formats (why do I do that?) I found much to enjoy. The destruction of the installation section really dragged on though. A very strong entry with a very young looking Brozzer. Franke Jansen was superb and the fight between Bond and Trevelyan was great. It stands up well in my view.

I was determined to watch my Blue Ray set in order which meant last night should have been Thunderball. After the news about Lea Seydoux returning I scrapped this and watched Spectre.
I enjoyed it when it came out and even more so now I picked up on a couple of new things and I have a bit of a thing for Seydoux in that dress
I was a little anti about continuing the story arc in 25 but wouldn't be too upset if they did.
Last night I watched Octopussy blu-ray on my 100” projector screen. It was awesome!
I noticed details I have not seen before. Like when Maud is being kidnapped on horseback, look in the distance and there are palace guards shuffling along with their hands in the air. OP is so packed with detail, it makes it a treat to watch on repeat viewings.
My current 10 favorite:
1. GE 2. MR 3. OP 4. TMWTGG 5. TSWLM 6. TND 7. TWINE 8.DN 9. GF 10. AVTAK
Maybe this is super obvious to everyone but me: Another thing I noticed in OP is on the airplane, Bond actually scoots down to the rear of the plane and uses his feet to lower/jam the flaps. Now, this might be pure rubbish from an aviation standpoint, but at least it explains why Kamal suddenly loses altitude and crashes.
(Having only one prop running is not catastrophic)

Ten mins is about as much as I can watch of the odious Skyfall at a time...
So we see our sociopathic hero look mildly interested when a gunman shoots and kills the hotel receptionist. Then we see him stand back as said gunman sets up his execution... perhaps Craig's Bond was pondering how it put him in mind of how he earned his 00, except it couldn't, because that method was in the book, not the film of Casino Royale.
JFK may have mentioned From Russia With Love was one of his fave books, but our hero would have been no help whatsoever on that fateful day in Dallas. He'd have stood back and watched Lee Harvey Oswald do his work! If MI6 haven't been made complicit by some theorists anyway. If they happened upon a b+w still with a shadowy Brit operative in the background behind Lee Harvey, some would say 'Hey! That proves MI6 involvement! James Bond is there!' 'Yeah, but does he look like Craig? It does? Well, chances are he just stumbled on it by chance and let it happen.'
Then Bond enters that woman's shower stark bollock naked. Jeez.
Much of this film is unsavoury, such as M revealing that Rodriguez got the hump because he exceeded his brief (as Bond often does) so she cut him off and handed him over to the enemy. So, really, sounds like she deserved all she's getting. The odd thing about Skyfall is that it really does seem like an anti-imperialistic dig at the British 'M'pire, and yet it's like we're invited to cheer along with it all, like the director hasn't spoken to the writers.

I wholeheartedly agree, those scenes are a series low point for me.It moves Bond as far away from his original character as the 70's buffoonery did.

GE. It was ok, some great moments. Franke Jansen was the star turn. Pierce looked like a camp hairdresser. Fight with 006 was excellent. He really grew into it by TND. Felt that it flagged and dragged in places. PTS was great, but harmed by the cheesy forgot to knock piece. Don't know what the budget was but it looked cheap and as others have commented TV like.

Twine with the mates on blu Ray. They hadn't seen it before and they loved it. It's definitely very Underrated. Some of the dialogue is a bit crap, but I do think this is Brosnan at his best. He looks fantastic here, with a great opening and action scenes. I enjoy Dr. Christmas Jones as well, sure she's not that convincing as a nuclear scientist but she's easy on the eyes and has some fun lined and moments with Bond. They are both enjoying themselves.
And that's just it. As much as I enjoy Craig's take, I want the actors to look like they're enjoying themselves again. I want Bond to be cool again, like with Brosnan.
Let's pass through this dour patch and give Bond some more fun.

I agree about Christmas. She certainly isn't the best Bond girl and I don't like her name, but she's an OK character in my eyes. Richards is great to look at and did her best to play the role. Besides she isn't as annoying as Goodnight, Plenty O'Toole or some other bimbo girl.

Watched OP about a week or so ago, for the first time in years (girlfriend had never seen it)...I’m still bothered by the silly parts, (and distressed by the awful parts), but it was a fine time, and my girlfriend said it was fun :007)

Yes, but what about the film?
Bits of Spectre, it did help seeing that the first time without any foreknowledge, because with it you see some silly stuff of course. Like in the pts, where Bond falls into the building and then waits standing still so the man in the white suit clocks him looking menacing. He couuld just pull a gun and shoot him (or has he lost that and have no back up?) but where's the drama in that? To be fair, Craig has built up his unique mannerisms in the role, it owes something to him looking moody on a bike outside the villain's hq in QoS. I can see why some fans don't like SP because it is quite languid; if you are tuning in for a few good scenes worth, they doesn't quite deliver on their own, they have to be part of the whole.
GE is a film where the scenes deliver but imo it doesn't make sense as a whole. So I'll tune in if it's on telly.

So far I have watched Moonraker and Tomorrow Never Dies on my big screen. (Blu-ray player with HDMI to projector)
Both were awesome and cannot imagine watching 007 on a smaller TV screen anymore.
