Bond 25 wishlist

RemingtonRemington CAPosts: 239MI6 Agent
What do you want in the next film?

I got two lists.

If Craig returns:
.Have Blofeld and Spectre return. However, have no mention of the Oberhauser BS, Denbigh, or Nine Eyes.
.Bond just went on holiday with Madeleine. He didn't quit the service. Other than a brief mention, Madeleine is neither seen nor mentioned again.
.A plot that involves no hacking, surveillance, or terrorism. Think of something new.
.An action thriller director.
.David Arnold to return.
.A rock theme song.
.Colorful and natural cinematography. More CR/QOS than SP.
.Roughly the same tone as SP but with less one liners.
.New writers.
.Only about ten minutes set in London.
.Felix Leiter to return.
.Only small roles for M, Q, and Moneypenny. No Tanner.
.Great fights like the SP train sequence.
.No desert scenes.
.Locations that are beautiful and tropical. I wanna see some beaches and palm trees again. Like DN, TB, LALD, LTK, DAD, CR, and QOS.
.The Garden of Death.
.More use of the Bond Theme.
.And finally, the same walk and pose as SP GB. But don't have it fade to black. Have it open on a shot of a beautiful location.

If there is a new Bond:
.New MI6 regulars and building.
.Martin Campbell, Phil Mehuex, and David Arnold.
.No personal story.
.No mention of Quantum or Spectre.
.Include a shadowy intro for the new Bond like Lazenby and Brosnan.
.A similar tone to CR but with more one liners.

    Want;
Traditional gunbarrel with circle opening into first scene.
David Arnold and a score which references the main title song through the whole film.
    Bond in uniform.
    Elegant fitting suits.
    An underwater scene.
    A few more one-liners.
    Tropical, exotic, luxurious locations.
The 1969 DBS in a small cameo perhaps, instead of the DB5 in every film.
DC's Bond less serious, angry and angst ridden.
DC's Bond more respectful to M.
    Bond as a Spy.
    New York
    Japan
    Felix
    Hinx
Bond taking part in a sport or pastime, such as golf, rock-climbing.
Bond ordering a nice meal and bottle of something.
Confidence of Eon in the Bond formula. Don't try and copy other franchises, however popular they are, E.g. Bourne, M:I, Avengers)
    Less green screen.
A fitting tribute to Sir Roger somewhere.

    Don't Want;
    Bond on a personal/revenge mission.
Excessive mobile phone calls with Tanner and M. Or earpieces.
M, Moneypenny, Q, Tanner out in the field with Bond.
A generic (Bourne esque) rhythm section score for all the action sequences. It worked for the Bourne films but has been overused to death since.
    Bond as an Assasin.
A Bond girl who's supposed to be a female version of Bond, working as his partner. E.g. Jinx, Wai Lin.
    Bond in love.
Another new Omega watch (this will happen of course..)
    DB5
If Bond does have a car, I'd prefer if it didn't get written off.
    Motorbike chase
Duelling car chase (e.g. Die Another Day, SPECTRE).
    Desert.
    "Any of the opposition around..?"

    Two more things I'd like
    .Minimal color grading.
.And the word "In loving memory of Sir Roger Moore" at the front of the credits.

    @Remington

Your complete list is just spot-on. Exactly what I would want as well.

    Especially:

    -David Arnold
    -Jeffrey Wright
-None of the characters of SP (Swann can be mentioned briefly)
-Use of Scooby Gang just for one or two scenes each. Even if I love Whishaw as Q.

-No personal story in any case. No re-boot nonsense if it is a new actor. Just continue the timeline of DAD.

Absolutely agree with these! Outside of the Bahama's in CR and Briefly in SF Craig's Bond hasn't spent a lot of time in Tropical locales. Palm trees and Bond are a natural combination. The Garden of Death could potentially be an incredibly tense and iconic scene if done well and something that would be very unique. And lastly they definitely need to use the Bond theme more. just blast the DA DA DA DDDAAAA portion during an action scene or something like they did during the Brosnan era. Craig's Bond only gets the full blown theme during the end credits.

if they could completely forget to mention Blofeld killing Bond's wife in Diamond are Forever, they can completely forget to mention the foster brother thing and "I was behind everything" in this next film

    Want:
    - An original plot.
    - At least one new location. QoS wasn't my favorite, but I enjoyed the Bolivia/Peru setting.
    - An original plot.
    - A bare minimum of one-liners. One or two to display wit and cool in the face of danger are plenty.
    - A plot that is original.

    Don't Want:
    - I'd type this in all caps if I didn't despise typing in all caps so much.. please for the love of everything holy, respect characters and traditions yes but do not fill every moment with winks and nods to past films. No need for an Aston Martin to show up once every two films. No need for 90% of act three to be an updated version of Dr. No including wardrobe. Respect characters and themes but let's keep moving forward.
    - Lea Seydoux to appear, be referenced, or be discreetly whispered about even if it's off camera in the story world.

Property of a Lady as the title

    Gun barrel at the start

    Michael Buble theme tune

No Madeleine with no explanation will do me fine

Bond throwing an item of clothing on Moneypenny's hat stand

Classic M briefing scene maybe with Q and Tanner

Not as much Moneypenny, M, Q and Tanner this time

    No DB5

A couple of Sir Roger references shoved in there, maybe a modern safari jacket worn in a scene by bond, a few bars of Nobody Does it Better. Im sure someone will think of something better.

Some witty one liners in the same sort of tone as SPECTRE

Save Blofeld and SPECTRE for the next film

A good "gadgety" car chase like SPECTRE or maybe a boat chase as the big set piece in the vain of Live and Let Die (A boat chase might also tie in as a Sir Roger reference).

Maybe go to Venice again or somewhere thats not as "orangey" and dusty looking as the locations in SPECTRE. Failing that i'd love to see Bond ski again.

Final showdown with a villain in his hideout

    Bond gets the girl

Credits roll "In Loving Memory of Sir Roger Moore" as his gun barrel pose is in the background

    James Bond Will Return...

A Sir Roger Moore Tribute at the end

When the plot synopsis is released I don't want to see the words "from Bond's past".

At least one location most people haven't seen in more than three movies before in their lives.

I sure hope they do some or all of these in honour of Sir Roger
I have no clever ideas of how to reference Moore's Bond within the script, as Craig's style is just about the opposite to Moore's, maybe he better practice his eyebrow-raising
a musical quote from Nobody Does It Better would be very appropriate, as a start. the bestknown Roger-era themesong and with the added layer of meaning
but they should do more than just that

too bad it won't be coming out this year, another two years is a long time to wait for a timely and well-deserved tribute

The colour scheme is a bit samey with Craig's films. The locations. I mean, Scandinavia, Moscow or St Petersburg, New York would all be good. A grand, barnstorming car chase of the Ronin kind and the US military going in for the final showdown.

New York like London suffers over exposure, but seeing Bond there again would be good. Japan would be a top choice for me. Above all leave London apart from a brief briefing scene then off to pastures if not new, certainly have not been a major part of the Bondiverse for some time.

True, NY is not exotic to Yanks, but if it could be shot interestingly. Like as it's seen in Someone To Watch Over Me, or Leon. It can look plush and exotic, all shiny surfaces and opulence. Craig in Moore's trenchcoat, on an old-style phone in a cool retro apartment. Moore tribute? The white Lotus.

Maybe we would get a boat chase across the Hudson leading to Liberty Island followed by a fight up the Statue of Liberty :))

Bond dispatches the henchmen, straightens his tie and bites into a hotdog

Kind of A View To A Killish lol

NYC is actually an exotic place to some Americas. It's funny and painful when I see tourists from the midwest who see Times Square along the lines of the Pyramids of Giza.

Even Moore's Bond was smart enough not to bring a car to NYC. Driving isn't so much a problem, but parking is. I can just imagine M's response to all the parking tickets he's brought back.

Using often filmed locations sush as NY is fine if it's done well. But I think EON should set a goal to fint a minimum of one location for each movie that isn't often visited by tourists or often used as a film location. Bahamas or Italy were exotic places few had been to in the 60's, but now most have been there or at least know people who have. Now you have to go to places like Uzbekistan or Spitsbergen to fine somewhere truely exotic. The locations should be real if at all possible. I don't wanted to see Turkey standing in for Uzbekistan or the Alps standing in for Spitsbergen.

had Bond been to New York since Live and Let Die?
he didn't see much of the city in that adventure, and a lots changed since then
this could be a chance for him to visit the Reptile House at the Central Park Zoo.

Go back to more rawer chase sequences and fight scenes that seemed oddly a bit sterile in Skyfall and SPECTRE.

If we have another elaborate SPECTRE headquarters or compound, make it harder to blow up.

I want a stand alone Bond movie depicted in a traditional way.

Unconnected pre title sequence, maybe a group of 4 double oo's on a mission to blow up drug cartel jungle factories or assassinating some tin pot African leader.

Bond goes to M's Office and gets his mission

    Bond meets Q

Bond travels to meet his contact etc

I'd love to see Craig in Naval Uniform and an underwater sequence maybe connected to something the SBS would do.

I'd love to see a sensational car chase, I'm talking of Ronin standard

I have no problem with Bond been brutal cruel and violent.

I'd like Mr Hink to return and a Bond v Oddjob style fight with Bond killing him by whatever means.

I don't want Bond to go Rogue or be haunted by his past thats been done to death.

Hope they get it right they have enough time thats for sure.

That would be nice. Why can't Bond still have movies about going on a mission (autocorrect: missile) when Mission Impossible does it all the time?

M:I - whole team died in the first act, Ethan Hunt's boss was the secret villain
M:I III - Ethan is brought out of semi-retirement when his protege is killed; Ethan's wife taken hostage
M:I V - Ethan Hunt goes rogue (it's in the title, to boot)

Also worth noting: the M:I series has only managed six films in 22 years. Be careful what you wish for! :))

The Living Daylights has the perfect balance. Bond has assignments to kill two people. He disobeys orders, but he's still on a mission.

True, Ethan Hunt does go rogue a lot. But the movies are less about his personal life than the Bond movies during Craig's tenure. Thinking back, Ethan Hunt barely has a personal life (or even a personality :)))

She was. But do you remember her name?
In spite of all the going rogue (mostly there to show that Hunt isn't really working for "The man", I think) and the kidnapping, the MI-movies are mostly about missions, villans and action. Craig's movies (in spite of their many qualities) are much more about Bond's past and his emotional and personal life. For a while that was fine. Hunt still looks like a blank slate to me, and not a person like Bond. But by now it's too much about Bond's personal life and not the missions, and even the missions are much about his personal life.

If Spectre had been a stand-alone film (like Skyfall was, until Spectre retconned it), I think we’d all be singing a different tune. The problem now is that if they come out and do a total stand-alone in Bond 25, it will feel incongruous with the rest of Craig’s films. I wanted a stand-alone with a new actor. But since we’ve got at least one more with Craig, I don’t think it works unless it’s VERY well-executed. They need to strike a balance. Acknowledge what has come before, but not be weighed down by it.
