I can tell you it is a very slim fit, made in Italy, and the material is much thinner than I was expecting (not much of a lining to speak of), but this helps it cut a nice silhouette.
I've got one as well, though I haven't been able to wear a jacket of any sort much in the past couple of weeks considering how how the weather has been. But I think this jacket is much more wearable to today's man than one of Moore's would be. I'll be interested to know your thoughts. I'll be posting about it on my blog soon.

On to a safari sports jacket then :007).
Excellent video as always Matt.
Hoped that you had done a moment from the movie recreated in the beginning but it was still a good video.
The "putty" (as you call it) colour reminds me of the jacket Roger wore in Moonraker.

David, great breakdown - and that Mason & Sons 40 is a perfect fit. (The site's advice to size up one was bang on for me as well.) It was begging for a shirt and tie underneath, a la Moore!
Some exciting info from Mason & Sons at the end there. Do you see yourself folding this jacket into your Moore-light rotation?
Absolutely. I am sure you already discovered that it folds up into nothing in luggage so it's easy just to take it with you and forget about it until you need it.
Enjoyed the video however I have to agree on the LL Bean review. Their lightweight jackets are made for cool summer climates which is more like fall weather here in Virginia. I found a great Harrington alternative some years ago for the evenings at the beach but wearing it was like sitting in a sauna.

Just how thin it is really kind of threw me at first. As a result I'm really curious about the...well, the thing you mentioned from Mason & Sons at the end of your vlog (not trying to take away your clicks! -{ )
That is a damn fine jacket! Great review David! It fits you so well. The style is ultra cool. It reminds me of the Barbour jacket in terms of fit and style. Just fantastic. This is a must have jacket for me now. I'm gonna be putting away money for the February relaunch ASAP! -{
The jacket is very thin but hardy, not flimsy. But you can see when I hold the sleeve that the weight of it is very slight....I have no doubt the winter version will be of a thicker makeup...

IMO a Safari Jacket is to be worn in hot weather conditions. Period!
To me it does not make sense to make a winter version of it.
It's no longer a safari jacket if it's not for hot weather. However, there's plenty of history behind a military-style utility jacket for cold weather. A hip-length jacket with four patch pockets on the front was never limited to hot-weather use.
Fantastic review Matt! I absolutely love how you dressed it up and down, as I was wondering how best to wear it, and you gave perfect examples that just look amazing! -{

Thanks! I'm so glad my review was of help to you. As I mentioned in the review, it could be dressed down even more with jeans and a t-shirt, though that's not my personal style so I didn't demonstrate it. It's quite a versatile jacket, though I find it has a limited temperature range based on it being lightweight but not that breathable.

I haven't fully read it yet as I was in a rush but from the pictures I remember that you put together some great outfits.
The pink shirt and black tie combo works better for this outfit than it ever did for the linen suit that Lazenby wore.
A white v-neck and some jeans would work great as an outfit with the safari jacket as mentioned above.
Lighter coloured chinos could also work.
Am I wrong or does it have a slight camp collar?

The tie with the pink shirt is navy knitted silk, though the jacket is light-coloured enough that a black tie could probably go with it as well. In both outfits, the trousers I'm wearing a stone chinos, but lots of different colours of trousers can go with it.
I don't think I'd call the collar a "camp collar" since it's not on a shirt and there is a button at the top of the front. On jackets, a one-piece collar is more often called a "Prussian collar".

Definately. DZ wore it with jeans in his vlog and it worked great. I totally agree with the temperature thing. It being made of synthetic materials, it seems more well suited for Spring and Fall, rather than summer, especially here in Florida where I'm at (I could probably use it in the winter). Looks like it's similar to a Baracutta in terms of use and weight. I really do love how you coupled it with the shirt and tie; it reminds me of the TMWTGG cream safari leisure jacket outfit. So cool, I can't wait to grab one. They only have my size left, but the TF Harrington has killed my Bond clothing fund for the year ) all the best -{
Matt, just read your article over coffee. LOVE it. You have a crisp and concise way of writing but obviously concur on all your comments. The fit on these are particularly flattering. Great pictures, btw and obviously a great backdrop. I had more of a sticky, humid suburban jungle-like atmosphere but I liked the city-scape you provided. I assume you went to see David and Elliott personally?

Thanks! Yes, I saw them in London personally, though I unfortunately wasn't able to get photos in the safari jacket in Montagu Square.

One question (which may sound noob): Where are these AS jackets made?
Dalton - the weak and weepy Bond!

No, I insist .
(sorry, I hadn't yet fully woken up and my brain is mush in the morning ) ). Matt, Mantis. Same thing .)
