Saw bits of it years ago. I have the novel the film is based on. Would like to see it in full ASAP. That was the tune at the beginning, with the titles, correct?

To be honest it's quite a while since i watched the film but i think it's played when Sherlock says farewell to Irene Adler using an umbrella as a semaphore but i could be wrong . What spurred me to post was i've been watching John Williams music on BBC 4 proms and there was a little segment that just sounded like Miklos Rozsa concerto .

Ah, I see. I do remember the open titles having some kind of music played over them.

Would like to see it in full ASAP.

There's various versions of it on YouTube, SM, though the quality varies and I suspect some of them are edited. Here's one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_DT7RAOE0Pw but I'm not guaranteeing it's a good version!

Thanks, Barbel. I'll have a look at those. I must get it on DVD soon as I'd like to see it again.

I recently bought a couple of Billy Wilder box sets and The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes is on one of them. I don't think I have seen this version before. I think I read somewhere that Mark Gattis was heavily influenced by it when he wrote the Sherlock TV series.
