Why doesn't Bond bleed (in the pre-Craig films)?

Doctor WhoDoctor Who Posts: 62MI6 Agent
Outside of FRWL and LALD, I can't think of any time Bond is actually made to bleed during a fight with a baddie...

Anyone know why Broccoli et al opted to make Bond a sort of Superman?

There's another Connery film, but I can't put my finger on the scene. Dr No maybe.

He did. His shirt has blood stains on it.

I'm not sure but Brozzer in Die Another Day?
    During the torture?

I don't seem to recall a scene in FRWL where he bled.
Maybe you're thinking of Kerim Bey in the gypsy camp shootout (an easy mistake to make, they both use PPKs).
Off-screen, the scar from a jealous woman also must've had blood when he first got it.

Bond never bleeding is a bit of a myth really. But sure compared to Craig it seems not much.

With Craig they introduced the running, sweating, looking exhausted and beat up Bond. It's what Craig's best at too :D

One of my favourite little "bits of business" in CR, are the fight marks on Bond's hands
After the stairwell fight sequence. Only my opinion but I think the mix of Bond the fighter and
Bond the suave agent was just about perfect there.

Brosnan is as badass as they come. Just watch how he disposes of the big guys in the control room in Carver's media center.

I always love the look Brosnan gives the camera in the pts
Of TWINE in the lawyer's office. He really looks a killer.

Yeah...he doesn't really convince me at all in that scene...

Have you ever noticed that Brosnan does something with his face everytime he fires a gun? He pulls off some really funny expressions.

You call Dalton wimpy, yet Brozzer looks like he's about to take a huge dump everytime he has to fire a gun.

In FRWL Bond actually cuts his hand when the window in the train compartment breaks during his fight with Red Grant. However the blood does disappear and then reappear in several shots during this scene, so I would not be surprised if this did confuse some viewers.

Great scene in TSWLM where Bond is bleeding after his fight with Jaws on the train.
Suggests using Anya's nighty as a bandage. :)

The henchmen and villains also die without getting bloody. It's not a matter of making Bond a super hero, but rather to keep the films PG and provide good clean fun.

Although we do see an occasional spray of blood like in OHMSS and TND.

I appreciate the ways they can kill Bond villains where we wouldn't see blood in any case, like with Goldfinger, Drax, Kamal Khan and Zorin. Henchmen like Odd Job, Chang, Erich Kreigler, Gobinda and Necros die legitimately blood-less deaths too.

Not seeing blood on-screen is ok. Bond (for me) never was action/thriller that has to be graphically brutal with blood and gore.

And there are enough "subtle" quite horrendous on or off-screen deaths in the series imo.

I don't want Bond to be as brutal frequently as it is in LTK. I love the film, but back in the day it was the element that made it almost impossible to watch for me.

SPECTRE uses subtle horror too, I prefer that much to bloody stuff like in QOS.
