Your Favorite Brand

It can be Bond related or not.

Please don't say this my favorite brand for X items and this is my favorite brand for Y items. Pick one brand that you absolutely love and are loyal to. Feel free to explain why.

I think this will be a great way to pick up brands from other people. I know we have a Top 5 thread but I wanted to create a narrower thread to really make people think rather than have options.

Tom Ford, no problem with any of the items I purchase from that brand.

I really like others, however the above is fantastic in every regard including the sunglasses I wear.

Omega is currently my favorite brand for the following reasons: design, quality and after sale service.

The only pair of Sunglasses I own are Tom Ford. Also, the only Tom Ford item I own in the first place. I get tons of compliments on them and they suit my face perfectly. Tom Ford took the Aviators and perfected them imo (Tom Ford Marko). I've dropped them a few times as well and the build quality is evident, not a scratch.

Being abit of a clothes horse there's too many to list but I do love Tom Ford, also Love Matchless but not Bond related I have 6 of their jackets now, excellent quality.

Had a very poor experience with Omega Service Centre (Bond St. London) after having my Seamaster serviced, Left a bad taste in my mouth so to speak.

Frank Foster is my pick. I think they make some of the best shirts in the world, and no other person made clothes for more Bond films. It's a family-run business in the same basement in London for 60 years. It's everything I love in a brand.

I had a link taken out a while ago and asked them to fit it back for me whilst being serviced. I was called a few days later to say I needed a new band, which I agreed to but said it has to be the same size as the old band with the link added back in, I emailed them as well to make sure this was being done.

A few weeks later I logged in to see if there was a completion date, it showed I was being charged for a new bracelet AND an extra link...3 phone calls later and 2 emails to say I didn't need an extra link in a new band as it would be miles to big and it was likely I'd need link(s) taken out for it to be the correct size and got them to confirm in writing as I told them I didn't want to wait 8 weeks to collect my watch to find it didn't fit and have to wait for them to adjust it again

Well 8 weeks later I go to Omega Bond Street to collect my watch, The lady handed it over...It was so small I couldn't even get it over my hand!
She was apologetic and said they had new staff in their service centre so there must be a mix up, Plus the only spare link in the box was my old (scratched) link and none of the new removed links, She said they can add my old (scratched) link back in to make it bigger but if I needed any more links added they would need to send it away.
I ended up speaking to the manager who told me the bracelet was the same size as my old one but because it was new it hadn't stretched yet.....After I showed him the many emails about the size I'd sent them he went upstairs and shockingly they had extra new links instore which they fitted while I waited (45 minutes in total)

That's terrible. What reason did they give for you needing a new bracelet? I've never had that and I've had well worn watches serviced! In fact I once did my own brushing job on the centre links on my SM300 mca and had that serviced. My only problem has been them refusing to service a vintage SM300 due to the fact I'd rebuilt it myself and it was no longer original, but I found a very good horologist who did it for a fraction of the price. What model watch was it if you don't mind me asking?

I just brought my Speedmaster in for servicing, and they said that I will need a new bracelet soon. They told me it's going to break soon and they are not repairable. I told them not to give me a new one because it costs a little more than the servicing. I'm sure there are better ways to go about getting a new bracelet, and if it breaks I wonder if a jeweller could find a way to fix it.

It's 16 years old, with about 15 total years of daily wear. What's typical for a bracelet?

Absolutely love this company. I might actually choose them as my pick but I'd have to try more of their stuff. I own T-Shirts, a tank, and a few different colors of the Riviera Polo. I have not tried any of their other items due to price and also because their outerwear doesn't seem to have the fitted look I like with my clothes.

For purely basics though they win. The Riviera Navy Polo (Casino Royale) is my number 1 piece of clothing ever made. Oddly enough, the other colors don't have the exact same fit sadly but still very good.

Is it the traditional Speedmaster stretch link bracelet or the later version? It sounds dubious to me too. Im not sure how anyone can predict a bracelet breaking?? I've never known one go through normal use and wearing out, get broken by incident yes but then normally the spring bars break. Repairing would simply be a case of pressing out a pin and repressing a new one, links and full bracelets are available from ofrei for a much cheaper price.

It's not the stretch kind (as far as I know, since it doesn't stretch). The upper links do not have accessible pins, so they said that when those pins break there is nothing they can do.

I know what you mean about the other colours of polo. I also find the sizing is inconsistent between garments. I have three different jumpers and theyre all in different sizes.

Quite often the pin is set into the link and can be separated, this would happen anyway when one of the pins breaks, obviously there is a chance of your watch falling and being damaged but I'm still not over happy with Omega pre-empting this happening and trying to sell you a $600 bracelet!

You know, I don't think that I could have a single favourite brand.
I have many, for many different things.
    Dress shirts?
So far, T&A (if only they had a gauntlet button in their RTW).
    Polos?
Sunspel, specifically, the Riviera model (obviously. I'm meaning to get a black longsleeve for the winter, though).
    Shoes?
I haven't had much experience with dress shoes, as of yet (my C&Js have yet to arrive and I'm saving up for some Ferragamo loafers)
my favourite casual shoes would have to be my Asics Tiger Mexico 66s.
Took some photos of a pair of mine that look decent enough to pass as an alternative for the Jack Purcell OTRs.
They are super comfortable. Indeed, the sizing is crazy but these particular ones, if my memory serves me correctly, were special MINI editions. Trying to find a decent pair of these on eBay is like trying to find a virgin in a maternity ward. From over 3 years of on and off use, they show no sign of slowing down. TBH, I wish you could repair the sole if it does go bad.

Wristwatches, I have no direct experience, so I can't judge. My SEIKO Sea-Urchin is very nice indeed, the photos don't do it justice.
I unfortunately broke the back display glass when it slipped my hands while removing a NATO and falling to the floor. I need to source a replacement soon. Might even buy a good steel back that DagazWatch is making these days.
Matt, is that the same Omega you were wearing in your Anthony Sinclair suit showcase?

    Really?
I'll have to do some research of my own (I'm sure you understand), but could you make a good recommendation for a good pair of leather loafers? TBH, I don't really care about designer brands when it comes to footwear but I was willing to make an exception for Ferragamos as I had read many nice things about them on fashion forums. I'm not talking MSRP, thought I'd mention that.

Honestly, ferragamo is a fashion brand now and the quality reflects that. I'm not just just talking about materials, but fit and construction. For what you would pay for Ferragamos at, let's say 25% off retail on sale on a MSRP of $600, you could get some Alden handstitched loafers made in USA. Lots of options out there.

And, just in case you were wondering, I have had several pairs of Ferragamos in hand and compared them to other makers. For me, they're like a good Johnston and murphy shoe.

    Hope that helps!

    That's unfortunate.
Very helpful info! It's nice to see that it came from someone who has...experienced the brand, so to speak.
I'm sorry, but I'm unfamiliar with Aldens, presumably because I don't reside in the United States. A quick Google search turned this up: http://www.aldenshoe.com/ . Is this the brand you were referring to? They have some very beautiful shoes but the leather sole, specified on one of their penny loafers, turned me off a bit. On the plus side, they are handsewn (as you, of course, mentioned). Could you comment on the pricing?
    Thank you.

I agree about the quality of Ferragamo. They're not that special. But you can't compare their loafers to Alden's. The styles are completely different. Italian loafers are not my speciality, but any shoe that will have the Ferragamo look will have to be made in either Italy, Spain or Portugal. The English and the Americans cannot make such a shoe properly.
