Nice work JG007... I may follow suit once you post up pics of yours.. I just cant justify NP prices for what is essentially a modified military/police sweater, but made of fru-fru material... Well done on your end... (and to be honest.. expensive / "gucci" tactical is not "tactical" at all...)

Thank you and agreed with your points.

I was tempted on the NP however being realistic for me, how much time with this get worn is minimal and for the price point suggested and material being used I struggled to justify when I can get a close alternative for about £50.

    The only real difference will be the patches on the NP are suede we hear and the neck opening is a bit wider. Otherwise it’s pretty much the same -{

I just emailed with my interest, did you see any size/fit information on the webpage? I might have overlooked it but i didn't see anything?

Excellent ! I couldn’t locate the size chart either so I asked for advise on the best size for me and gave my chest size. She advised and I’ve ordered in the advised size, very helpful and accommodating their end.

Just a thank you to DB6 for posting the customs info on the stag RGT jacket
Managed to get back £30 so not bad considering.
Guys if you've been overcharged too its worth the stamp.
    Chris

Do you have the thread post number? I was charged £100 vat and duty which I swallowed but something makes me think I missed a trick here (and a post)

Did you get a VAT refund?

    Cheers :007)

The Royal Navy get these for free don’t you know (less felt patched sans cotton) and the RM Commandos this exact style with cord in green back in the 50’s and 60’s.

Makes me laugh back in the day you used to thread a shoe lace around the neck to keep it tight now people are paying for it specifically. Sadly lost many a Jersey Heavy Wool to the good lady washing on the wrong temp and shrinking them to action man size. Just could not risk that with the NP.

Phased our years ago becoming the preserve of Officers and SNCOs with the advent of MTP, but strangely making a resurgence lately and no longer making me feel an old git when I wear mine, now they are in vogue.

Like others here I struggle to justify paying NP prices for something I get issued. I will just have to tap up some RN contacts for a Navy JHW (though it will stick in my throat to wear another services kit) and some SF dudes for a decent set of their latest strides and be done. Luckily I still have black boots from yester year now brown is all the rage :))

His dagger should definitely have been an F&S given his history / back story (SBS) would have gone nice with the PPK real old school

    Cheers :007)

Ahhh the joys of importing! :)) Sooooo....

I went to pick my jacket up from the local depot this morning, only to find that the customs charge was £90!!!! :o Which is clearly incorrect - but if you don’t pay it, you don’t get the jacket. So I stumped up knowing that i can reclaim the incorrect charges later. I think they’ve added in the $200 Insured Value, instead of the Insured Cost - which clearly states 0 on the documentation from Stag (its a Form BOR286 from the hmrc.gov.uk website if anybody else gets stung.)

Here’s the info for anybody who needs it. I think people were getting about £20 back.

Unfortunately I was unable to claim as ‘somebody helpfully tidying up’ threw away my original packaging! 8-)
    Yes. Considerably.

Preach.... I have been a cop for almost 20 years now.. We have the option of getting these in black as well.. and also in a V neck style.. I loved wearing them in colder months because I never liked wearing a winter coat working the streets because they cover up all your gear on your belt, and in a fight you had issues getting to necessary equipment quickly, so I lived in the commando sweaters through winter with base layers underneath. I rarely used a jacket and only then when it was pouring rain... I too got too distracted doing laundry at times and shrunk a few down to kiddie sized ! :)) :)) :)) And man do they SHRINK !

Now that I pretty much drive a desk and most of my confrontations are over the phone with angry citizens :p I don't mind wearing the old leather jacket to work... just because they look cool and none of the young kids on the department have them as they phased out eons ago...

I love your use of the phrase "fru fru"! Reminds me of Blackadder III, and the Scarlet Pimpernel. Le Comte de Frou-Frou.Thanks for the giggles!

:)) :)) :)) :)) Man.... Blackadder... That is good stuff... I remember plenty of nights with buddies in High School & College watching that with beers and dying laughing... Rowan Atkinson is a genius... anyhoo... sorry for the derailment here ! Back to talking about Johnny English's clothing ! (In my defense.. he was in Never Say Never Again)

    Received my joes this morning.

Because I was very unhappy about the “in-your-face” 007 branding, They were super cool to honor my request and throw in an extra NON-007 case and cloth. :D :007)

My Joe's were supposed to be delivered on Wednesday but i missed the delivery and had to pick them up that evening. When i initially placed my order i asked about what the cost would be for a separate case/cloth and he threw it in for me which was a pleasant surprise. I'm still not happy with the branding but the glasses are very nice and i was surprised how heavy the package was! What has everyone else's opinion been on the Joe's?

So far so good on the Joe’s! I haven’t worn them out yet and I’m a little bit afraid of the logo but people I’ve shown say it is very unnoticeable unless you’re looking for it.

With my lighter skin and blonde hair, it almost looks like a strand of hair going over the glasses. I’m very excited about these and my certification number ends in 1995 which is the year I was born.

    So very cool!! B-)

Also very cool to have someone born in 1995 that is on board with all things Bond, James Bond.

Been a fan since I was maybe 5, parents showed me TSWLM first and I was hooked. Casino Royale was the first movie I saw in the theater and I got to see TSWLM and FYEO in theaters when Roger passed.

    Younger fan but old at heart and have been obsessed like us all ever since. -{

I just pulled the trigger on the Connolly Giubbino. It wasn't cheap. But I have a feeling that Connolly (as a fashion brand) won't be making this jacket a fixture in their line up as Billy Reid did with the peacoat. But if they do, they do.

I really like how it looks on Simon Crampton on his blog.

It's definitely a more sophisticated look than the Mango. I'm hoping to get a lot of use out of it during the hottest summer months.

Casino Royale was the first Bond film I saw in the cinema! Still remember my grandmother taking me. Not sure it was a great decision showing the Bond ball torture scene to an eight year old me back in ‘06 but hey, I’m still a fan of the films :))

Good to know that the logo isn’t as noticeable while wearing as first thought. Might have to have another think about grabbing a pair.

Also 1995, a great year to be be born :007)

That doesn't seem right. Did they deduct VAT? It should be £423.33 all in. At current exchange rates that would be around $550-560 before exchange premium. It looks like you were charged around £500.

They don’t volunteer providing the extra non-branded case and cloth. You have to ask for it. That’s how I got mine. I wasn’t sure from your message if you already got them or you were just saying they look great. Either way, hope this helps ! :)

It does look great there: I really like it.

The blog itself is kind of hilarious though: apparently wearing a T-shirt rather than a collared shirt has an effect on how smart or casual you look. You don’t say! :D

Congrats on even getting a response from Connolly! Despite several attempts, they have not responded to any of my emails regarding buying this jacket! Massimo Alba are a much more customer facing brand, and a pleasure to deal with to date! Looking forward to getting my duster rain coat!
