I was pretty miffed about us not having a choice between Standard and 007 logo version.

However, since I got mine, I've enjoyed how great they are as an article of eyewear and have since forgotten the annoyance of the logo. I definitely would have preferred the no-logo version but the logo has become relatively inconspicuous to my eye...

Perhaps the collective power of those who are still very vexed over this kerfuffle can sway the powers that be at Barton Perreira for some sort of release of a 2.0 edition but for now, I'm okay with it...

I was pretty ticked off with how the BP situation was handled too. I had pre-ordered the Joes but never received an email or phone call to tell me about the new branding. Clearly they just assumed I was either OK with it or I wouldn't notice. When I called the NY store after receiving the glasses, they weren't apologetic or forthcoming to offer a refund. I had to "argue" my case that the glasses were not as I had ordered them and I didn't receive any kind of notification of the change. Finally they said OK to ship them back (at my expense) for a refund. Yet another case of Customer Service really steering the ship for a brand. I told myself I'll never order a pair of BPs again, regardless of the fact they're part of the Bond legacy now.

To follow up Mike's comment above, the BP NYC store did confirm that the Eon license is only in place until June of this year. So after that, they will produce a "limited run" of Joes without the 007 branding. So there's still an opportunity to pick up the screen-accurate Joes for those interested - that just won't be me.

    Kind regards,
    Craig

I wonder if they'll drop the price for that version seeing as they'll no longer be the Bond limited edition?

Funny they told you about a 6 month license with EON but they never mentioned it to me! I wonder if the 6 month license also effects the Norton and Courtier glasses as well?

    If I remember correctly they were going to do the regular version for $400.00 -{

I bought originals - they were quite pricey and yes was $395 in September for the Joes and Nortons (original editions)

Love this image of the watch - if it looks like this on my wrist I will be very happy.

In the end the SPECTRE Seamaster annoyed me due to the long lugs, case height and inner silver bezel that was a scratch magnet. Fixed all this things thankfully!

I had a question about the RGT Wax Jacket. I have sourced it from STAG for £220, but I'm worried about being hit with customs prices upon arrival. Have any UK members ordered from them and had a similar issue?
I'm also worried about the sizing as I'm pretty thin (30" waist, 36/38" chest) so was going to go with the medium but with a thought in the back of my head that maybe small will be better? Any help would be appreciated! Also loved the new trailer, that henley really gets around!

Hey - I’m in the UK and ordered from STAG. They’re great - but you are kidding yourself if you think you will avoid customs charges. Those days appear to be long gone when ordering from a reputable store...unless they are prepared to ‘amend’ the value of the package.

Reality is, given all of our experiences who ordered from STAG, that customs will grab it and add about £90 charges on top. That is too much and, if you go through the claims procedure, you’ll get £20 or so back - which takes it back to original price. So you won’t save money ordering from STAG, but you will increase hassle - particularly if it doesn’t fit and you have to return to the US.

Alternatively, I think there is a store in Covent Garden that stocks RGT. If you are concerned about sizing, you may be better to order there. At least you are keeping everything in the UK then.

Re: sizing. I’m 40” chest; long arms; 32” waist and I’m really happy with the fit of my MEDIUM RGT - though it is tighter than what the jacket looks like on Craig. But I’d only consider wearing this jacket with a t-shirt underneath.

If you want the ‘bigger’ look as per Craig, I’d suggest Medium. If you prefer your own style and like things more fitted, I’d consider a SMALL.

    Hope that helps?

It really is a great jacket for the price and the more you wear it the better it looks.

Brilliant thank you this was very helpful. I do prefer a more fitted look, and the jacket apparently stretches out slightly with wear so I might try to source a small. I'm waiting on Cultizm getting back to me to see what their policy is with postage because they look reasonably priced. It's a great item for genuine everyday wear.

I wouldn't be too concerned with it stretching out to any appreciable degree, unless by fitted you mean one-size-too-small fitted. If it's straining against the seams every time you wear it, or if you tend to contort your body regularly (and thereby strain the material), then yeah, stretching out should be a legitimate concern. But otherwise, I doubt you'd even notice it if it even does stretch out.

The problem with the wax, is that the fabric is a bit stiff when it is new.
Over time, the fabric stretches and more importantly it gets softer, which gives you the impression that you have gained one size.
I recommend to choose your true size.

Wow: 22. I had no idea they'd squeezed that many out! The ones in between films seem a bit weird in that they have no particular connection! If I had the pick of those I'd go for the Spectre 300m or the Planet Oceans; maybe the ATs: I'm not a big fan of circular indices! But I would make an exception for the new one as I think it looks great.

Let's see what the courier delivered this morning from Massimo Alba:

    fullsizeoutput-1b84.jpg
    fullsizeoutput-1b88.jpg
    fullsizeoutput-1b86.jpg

First thing I noticed is that this a raincoat cut/style (the giveaway is in its code RAIN2), so definitely not meant to be form fitting, and very light weight. How well it will work keeping off the rain is another matter given the cord and light colour, but not sure the Bond community majors on functionality! It almost looks like suede when you catch it in a certain light from a distance.

Liked the MA touch of including a print of the watercolour. That's going to be framed!

On sizing, I normally take a 50(Eur), so sized down to a 48 as per Alessandro's suggestion. The fit on the shoulders is perfect and everything else then is frankly as it was designed to be! The 48 measures 18 inches across the shoulders and 22.5 inches from pit to pit lying flat. So if you want a slimmer looking fit, my advice would be start with the shoulder size and make sure this is right, the rest then can be adjusted easily by a tailor if you want to change the fit. So this is right size for me and even if i sized down - it would still have a raincoat fit in the body, but be stretched on the shoulders.

Colour and style are radical departures for Bond - not sure we have seen Daniel Craig in a raincoat since Casino Royale (i think!) and then very formal. How this style will work for everyday practical wear, I'm still in two minds about - only time will tell!

Coat is worn with Rag & Bone Henley (SA) and then to make up the ensemble, R&B Patrick wool trousers from a few seasons back (in DC's personal wardrobe) and C&J Tetbury's, just to give similar effect to Trailer ( ie these are not screen accurate!).

Hopefully this will help some of you make up your mind on whether to purchase or not!

I agree, the Coat looks great on you and the fit is perfect too!
In my eyes it looks better unbuttoned, it makes the whole outfit much cooler and younger. with closed buttons it gives the coat a conservative touch, but thats my personal preference.
can imagine to wear it with a popped collar

Spectre tie on the left and No Time To Die Tom Ford tie on the right. Really hard to tell from the pictures but the ties or actually night and day. The one from No Time To Die is darker and a different weave all together.

In the end the SPECTRE Seamaster annoyed me due to the long lugs, case height and inner silver bezel that was a scratch magnet. Fixed all this things thankfully!

Though if that was the case it would of been cooler and made more sense to slap that vintage Omega Chrono on his wrist from the final scene in the DB5 with Lea

Oh my...! You lucky, lucky man - looks awesome...though I do agree with ‘unbuttoned and collar up’!!

Got to be honest, I’m definitely falling in love with this brand. Got a couple of pairs of Winch’s now and they are great. Bought a velvet overcoat when I was in Rome recently that gets positive comments / admiring glances whenever I wear it - and it feels great to wear!

I can’t wait for my duster to arrive - and I think your ‘size down’ advice is spot on from what they told me in Rome based on the overcoat I bought.

And aligned with all of the above, they just seem to be THE friendliest retail people I have ever encountered. Alessandro is super quick with his responses and incredibly helpful and the staff in the Rome store were just so welcoming. And how lovely to include the artwork with the coat! I was lucky enough to see a full set. I guess they got some prints done for the duster purchasers :-)

Definitely a brand I will be watching - and spending with based on the quality of what I have seen so far.

Let’s hope they don’t ever decide they need a 007 logo on their garments - cos then the price will go up by 30% I guess?
    Yes. Considerably.

Emailed Alessandro tonight to ask the same thing.

No need to panic if you haven’t heard anything. I ordered mine late December and it will be ready late Feb, but he will contact me when it is ready for payment etc.

I guess they are calling them off in strict order as they are made.
