Although the TB shirt also has a straight hem, it looks like maybe the costume designer cropped the one Bond is wearing to make it shorter?

The color is tough but I’m leaning toward black. Under artificial lighting navy may look black, but in broad daylight I think navy would be richer. That looks quite muted to my eye. And the navy on the website is closer to true blue than midnight if the picture is to be trusted.

I think like me you'd be better off with a medium, I looked at one last night in medium with ptp measurements of 23.5" I wish I'd bought it now! The first one I found that I thought was a dead ringer for the screen used one was a xxl and was flipping tent.
It was either that.....or the priesthood

Just an idea of Tommy bahama sizing, these are the measurements for a medium, Length: 31.5 inches Armpit to Armpit: 23.5 inches Sleeve length: 25 inches

For me , this Not a very happy start. Very average mall/ American dad brands (except for TF)

I hope things improve as we proceed.

But I have a feeling we will be missing Jany Temime in this one.

I will try to stay optimistic.

I welcomed a new costume designer because I disliked the fit of the suits under Jany’s tenure. Now I’m feeling a pang of regret. Tough to judge a body of work on one outfit, though. So I’m staying optimistic.

On the flip side, if we end up with an entire film of outfits like this one, it’ll save lots of people around here some money! This is, frankly, a bottom-five casual outfit for Craig’s Bond. Maybe bottom-three.

I think you maybe need to judge this like the Skyfall intro (Levis / Topman / Zara) as done by Jany

He is clearly kicking around / semi retired. Unshaven etc.

Im sure the deluxe brands will be coming soon enough!!!!

In saying that the shirt looks damn cool on him

Relax, we have now stuff from one scene and Bond is obviously on sabbatical.
Welshie was faster, but I totally agree with him

Dalton - the weak and weepy Bond!

I agree from a storyline point of view. That’s why I’m staying optimistic.

However there is something about Janny that makes her so good on putting an outfit together.

Anyhow, it is soon to judge. All I am saying this is not a very good start in outfits choice comparing to any other movie . (Not crazy about the Sperrys and the baggy shirt). Orlebar Brown perfectly suits the laidback retirement vibe but with style.

Come on guys! Bonds gone native, he's driving round in a £1000 land rover and wearing appropriate clothes, in fact the tf jeans are a bit far fetched, his watch is understated too. You would hardly expect him to bombing round Jamaica in an Aston wearing a suit. Even if Roger Moore would have retired into his safari jacket and shirt and tie.
I'm sure we will see him appropriately dressed when and where needed. Let's not forget the Zara youth shirt and chinos in SF. I prefer Bond to dress down when he doesn't need to dress up.

He pulls off the shirt, but he’s also a movie star. I doubt many of us would have the same level of success. Somoeone earlier in the thread said it looked like their usual outfit running an errand to Target. I would say that’s about right.

    Chriscoop,

Nobody said anything about him wearing a suit in a beach retirement scene. I am well aware of the storylines

I loved Bond’s casual outfits from previous movies and I’m still hoping for better ones to come along in this. Sperry’s and Tommy Bahama are not Bond enough for me. That’s my opinion

Your point is well taken. But it’s not all or nothing. The “enjoying death” Levi’s jacket was a very stylish piece. It’s not just about deluxe brands. This one is more comparable to the Madagascar outfit. And for me that was the only miss in CR (and also the first one we saw, I believe). So you’re right that it’s far too early to sound the alarm.

And FWIW I love the Land Rover! An inspired choice.

If the shirt does end up being the TB one.. definitely altered as in one pic it appears the tail is longer than the front hem.. (see post 266 on page 11... the front hem rides up a bit but rear hem is clearly longer in that still...

Rather safe than sorry I snagged a small off the TB site since they were still in stock.. I still kick myself YEARS later for not grabbing the Converse OTRs online when they were plentiful... :)) Never again...

All that aside.. I'm definitely in the camp leaning towards liking this relaxed comfortable vibe he's got here.. (despite looking like an "American dad mall brand" ensemble.... He's retired... I'm sure impressing the locals with "look at me" brands would be the last thing on his mind... but also.. I guess being an American dad myself ... it suits me well :D

I'd agree with Sperrys, even though they are touted as the original boat shoe, they aren't the best, and I always preferred Dubarry boat shoes, I still have those from my boating days and will wear those, I won't be buying any sperrys. I don't know much about Tommy bahama, but iike the shoes they seem to fit with the location.

    Exactly !

Suttirat is a very talented customs designer.
Also the head buyer for the movie worked on the Man from UNCLE. That’s why I was initially excited

I guess I’m just a bit surprised with the choice of “mall brands” like sperrys and Tommy Bahama versus something more unique like Orelabar brown or sunspel.

This however will be good news for those who don’t want to sell their kidneys to get a Bond outfit :)) :)) :))

I’m guessing we will see him on his yacht as BB and Wilson mentioned. Hence the boat shoes

I’m positive these were chosen to reflect his current status

Before people get depressed about "missing out" on the TB shirts, I would note that the Catalina style seems to be one of their staples. I'd expect another run of long sleeve versions in the fall. Granted, details might not be the same.

Gents, the black TB shirt does wear very large. Even a small for a person that takes a medium will more than likely need to be tailored. And yes, the hem has been altered, as everyone has said.

I also think its a very appropriate outfit for someone living on an island...or in Pennsylavnia :007) .....especially the things that have been called out like his shirt and his shoes. Just my opinion.

Full outfit vlog hopefully coming this weekend.....

I'm liking the shirt and boat shoes, but not the jeans. I would have preferred linen trousers like in Casino Royale. The shoes are not anything special, but they fit the setting and probably will fit the story.
