No one forces us to buy it.. if we don’t like the changes then don’t buy it. I for one grateful that we can buy the coat and suit ... as not all manufacturers have re-released things in the past once they had a bond connection.

Is the coat still available? I could only see it as being sold out on their site.

You have to email them and ask.

I think the argument regarding this coat is getting carried away.
Of course no one forces us to buy the thing, etc. but that’s beside the point.

When a company markets a product distinctively as „the same coat as in the new Bond movie“ then you simply do not expect it to be non SA bc then it simply isn’t the same coat as in the movie. So the argument „you don‘t have to buy it“ doesn’t hold up, bc we didn’t know of the alterations when we ordered back in late January.

Second, saying that they basically overlooked the Bond-fans who of course want a SA-version is also redundant, because they sold it as such.
The name is Walker by the way.

Check it out, you won’t be disappointed :)

Looks like BR changed the Bond peacoat again.

The leather is matte instead of glossy now, and the fabric is now 90%wool 10%nylon
The fabric has been 80/20 for at least five years.

BR might have done different versions of a 90/10, but if I remember correctly the main peacoat was 90/10 a short a while, maybe a year or so, after the Bond release. Many years ago so I could be wrong.
Looking for a ROYALE Filmwear Talamone Shawl Collar Cardigan, size medium. Preferably in Europe, but the US would work as well. Feel free to send a PM!
  • With all the disappointments so far, from poor attention to detail
to the movie being pushed back 2 or 3 times,
NTTD better be the best Bond film of the Craig era, that's all I gotta say.

I understand what you’re saying, I was meaning they overlooked the SA detail aspect to it, not the Bond(ness) of the jacket. Its weird to me but often little tweaks are made to items like that for some reason the designer thinks isnt a big deal. I agree they should have stated any changes prior to selling, but the fact is they didnt.

Well the points about we don’t have to buy it is true, I have now cancelled my order for 2 of them as it’s not what I ordered or the same jackets from Bond.

Does anyone know if the Tom Ford NTTD capsule will be released during the "Tom Ford Gives" event this month?

For anyone looking for the NTTD Albert Thurston braces worn with the Massimo Alba Sloop suit, Mason & Sons are taking pre-orders after being sold out. They are the most reasonably priced SA braces I have come across.

Speaking of braces, is it confirmed that the ones worn with the commando ensemble is by Thurston as well?

Nope. They're probably custom assembled with the combat trousers by Wardrobe.

I've had their original pure wool peacoat for maybe 8 years now? Worn it pretty regularly for about three winters, and it still hasn't started pilling, though I guess I might just be lucky...

More importantly, I wonder if their fit has changed significantly? I did buy an 80/20 after retiring my all wool version in 2015(?), and I remember noticing it seemed to fit significantly different.

That's a shame. Well, navy Thurstons are a close enough then!

I think Bond_Ambitions may be right about the custom braces. I have been looking for the braces worn with the tuxedo and these are the closest I have found so far:

Yeah my contact at Billy Reid said pilling was an issue with the wool and it was minimized by using a blend. I have a little pilling on the cuffs of my jacket but I've also had over 5 years. Regarding the fit I think the shoulders were narrowed, the chest measurements were increased and some have said the jacket is slightly longer.

I don’t believe the braces in the film are moire, just plain black.

As we're talking about braces... I ask the opinion of Matt S who's certainly more informed than me about this sort of things. Looking at a promotional campaign for NTTD, I noticed that the suspenders worn with the TF tuxedo have leather ends, not the sort of fabric ends the moire had for example in Skyfall.
Then, if you look carefully, you can notice they have a sort of metal button, probably to be worn whether with a clip or buttons (e.g. the photo)
    ftjlyvy40nk41.jpg

The back seems to have the same leather ends, but I'm not sure; the photo is a little grainy.

The most similar pair I found is this one, but I didn't find a picture of the back. The description says "The front is made of black satin. The elastic on the back is also black and the loops are made of black leather. The metal clips are silver. The Albert Thurston braces are equipped with loops(3x), buttons (6x) and metal clips (3x). So you can decide which variant you want to use to attach the suspenders to your pants. We recommend using the loops, but we offer both options"

Please let me know your opinion about that.

Yes, the braces have leather ends rather than the fancier braided ends. If the front ends are leather the back will be as well. I have more braces than I can count and the back ends always match the front. They are indeed the type that have optional clips. It is difficult to tell what they are made of, if they are satin or barrathea.

Here are the Thurston-branded braces I found before, which I believe are the same. The only difference is that the ends have been fastened together top over bottom rather than the other way around like Bond's are. I would assume you can fasten them either way.

Oh yes, I had found the same site as well. The seem pretty screen accurate for what we've seen so far... Maybe some more detailed shots (or at least the movie) will give us more information.
But I think if they're not the ones, they could be a good alternative.

For those who own the Rogue Territory jacket: Is the fabric stiff? Does it require an extended “breaking in” period? Just curious as this would impact whether I was to purchase one at some point.

Absolutely, very stiff and needs lots of wear to break in.
