Thought I’d share this picture taken at Bond in Motion for anyone looking to get a blue ‘Matera’ shirt made as an alternative to the genuine Brunello Cucinelli. As you can see, it’s a pretty casual shirt, looks to me almost like a chambray or very soft twill fabric.

If anyone has already found a good alternative please let me know. (And if someone can tell me how to post bigger pictures I’m all ears too :) )

What color are the buttons? Does anyone know?

They appear to be the same colour as the shirt in my opinion. I’m not sure if they would appear that way if they were clear but my instinct says they are the same blue as the shirt fabric.

I recently received the knockoff and I started off wearing mine while lounging on the couch buttoned and unbuttoned - then I wore it to bed buttoned - a little warm, I didn't need a blanket lol
It has definitely loosened up and broken in quickly by doing this

Wow, wearing it to bed - that’s dedication for you! I’ve found that wearing the RGT (and I’m guessing it’ll be the same with the frugal alternative) as often as possible is the key. Body warmth and movement have made mine soften and fit around my body and I’ve stopped being protective of it now - I sling it over my shoulder and rough and tumble it a little now and it just fits better each time. These things were made to be worn and enjoyed

Wearing it to bed wasn't that bad lol
It did break it in nicely and now I'll just wear it normally

Does the jacket fit true to size (even after wearing it to bed)?
Are the sleeves a bit short?
    Thanks

I wear XL and went with XXL- sleeves are perfect and length is at belt line like it's supposed to be. Probably picked up. 5 to 1 inch in the chest. Can't wear anything more than a t shirt or Henley underneath.

Did anybody wonder what the RT jacket´s wax coating could do to the clothes worn underneath?
    I would appreciate your feedback.

Right. Or car seats, or furniture upholstery...

Barring outdoor field use, I don't see the allure of tacky-textured clothing that collects, ahem, "patina" like earwax.

No need to be snobbish, I've had no issues with any of my waxed garments and I've been wearing G Star waxed denim of several washes for years.

If you don't like the look of it don't wear it, but waxed garments wouldn't be such a popular thing if they ruined everything they touch as a tradeoff for looking nice.

I might be just an illusion from zooming in, but while the speed hooks on the inner side of the left boot look normal, the hooks on the outer side certainly look to be coming from under the fabric lip. The stud on top and the hook underneath. Am I just seeing things??

I don't think anything is attached to the top of the boot—Bond has just wrapped his laces around a few times.

It's must less tacky to the touch than the Barbour jacket.

You're right mate, they do come from underneath. You can see a bit of the lace as it bends around the hook.
Always have an escape plan. Mine is watching James Bond films.

The waxed surface is on the outside not the inside, the inside is just pretty cotton canvas made stiff by the wax on the outside and it is not a tacky finish at all, I don't see a problem at all. As to how it looks, it looks much better in person that I expected and much better than the pictures, it is a very nice looking light jacket.

hello, interesting image. Hardly important, but I wonder... the classic, fixed M16 type front sight is there, ihmo, obstructing albeit partially the red dot sight (btw, I applaud the use of a known quality EOTech sight), then he has offset sights installed in the rail.

Also, this rail is not a free floating one. Is not advisable to mount any sight in rail that is in contact with the barrel.

Not being an smartass here, I used to do airsofting and more knowledgeable guys than me commented often on that.

It would be nice indeed if he had a Fairbains sykes commando dagger.

the holster must be the blackhawk omega, almost sure. I still have one in desert color for an airsoft maruzen P99 from back then.

Well spotted JTM, here's my thoughts:

firstly, those can't be speed hooks
    2020-01-04-8.png
more pics here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/293379348496 (not the Tanicus 8" side-zip model, but close enough)

They're more like "slow-hooks". They would have to be laced and un-laced in the normal fashion. If anyone knows the technical name for them please correct me.

Secondly, the pic above shows how they're meant to be riveted to both the inner and outer sides of the suede piece.

So the question is why are the only fixed to the inner side? as JTM pointed out. I can think of two explanations:

    a) If they were indeed custom dyed/painted by wardrobe, the hooks were removed in order for the suede beneath to be dyed uniformly, and perhaps the hooks themselves were painted separately. Then, the were reassembled incorrectly.

    b) If Danner did do a special black production run, they would have been manufactured on a very small scale and therefore probably by hand, which might explain such an inconsistency.

FWIW, I received this email response from Danner on Dec. 31st re: black Tanicus side zip 8" boots:

We did make the tactical boot in black, but currently their are no plans to make them again in black.
    Sorry for the inconvenience.

still looks to me like there is something attached or strapped on the inside at the top of right boot, but I'm no expert on such boots.

Curious how you guys that are getting the gloves will use them? Or just getting them for the collection?

    From post 2,330:
The M4's standard fixed A2 front sight with an optic is the the original configuration. The combo can either be a true cowitness (optic reticle aligns with the front sight post) or the optic can be mounted on a spacer for a more common "lower 1/3rd" cowitness (front sight post falls in the lower 1/3rd of the optic's sight picture below the reticle).

    Thanks Cajun

my thoughts then go back to the use of the offset sights. if the front A2 sight is not obtrusive then why have the offset sights and worse yet, why have them mounted on a rail that is held in place by the springed attachments of the barrel, the barrel nut and the handguard cap.

or maybe I don't see right and those are not offset sights.

    regards

It's definitely a knife. The top bit of fabric with the snaps is securing the hilt (cool bit of customisation by the costume dept) and the blade is in the "sheath" below. You can even see the knife's guard between the two bits of fabric. The pouch is far too long and slim to be for a PPK.

Email Connolly at popup@connollyengland.com and ask to be put on their James Bond list. Include your size and your phone number with country code.

Ask for confirmation that the rerelease is the same color and fabric. I know they will also be coming out with other colors and fabrics as well.
