Forty three days to go until the start of filming, 43.

I just wanted to say that.

"Shooting James Bond movies often involves fun in the sun…"

Is it a hint that the Bahamas, or a t least a beach, is a location in Bond25?

They might want to keep Craig off the beach or at least with his shirt on...of course they could probably CGI him to have abs like Bruce Lee these days. :)) That being said, I believe Craig will look fine in Bond 25....but not like he did in the first three.

Eh. I wouldn’t read into it. Doesn’t mean there won’t be a sunny locale, but I’m not sure the tweet related to Bond 25.

You're probably right, but we are desperate for news these days. I'm sure The Other Place can can get many posts out of it … :v

A member of MI6community named Pierce2Daniel has contacted a memeber of The Lipstick Alley forum who follows Fukunaga closely.
    He has some Insights:

⚫ So supposedly, Aiysha Hart has nothing to do with Bond 25 – she’s a friend of Froseth.
⚫ Supposedly, Froseth is close with Lucy Boynton who she worked with on a Netflix film called ‘Apostle’. Boynton is dating Rami Malek. It was speculated that Malek and CJF spent time together before Xmas with their girlfriends.
⚫Interestingly, CJF has a friend called Ameer Youssef who he does all his location scouting with.
⚫ Both CJF and Ameer spent a lot of time in Norway. Ameer’s Instagram confirms this. I feel this may lead more credence to the rumours of Norway being used as a location.
⚫ The below photos give us an idea of the landscapes that CJF might have in mind. The videos are actually filmed by CFJ himself.

*Quick disclaimer though* - Let’s not spam this guy’s Instagram. It’s better to just leave it and watch for developments.

Here is Youssef on IMDB: https://www.imdb.com/name/nm4393132/

It looks like Fukunaga and and Youssef were in Norway in August, the month before Fukunaga was announced as the director of Bond25. They were in the Northern part of the Vestland region. In fact pretty close to where I live. This is Fukunaga in Ørsta, about 40 minutes drive from here: https://www.instagram.com/p/Bmg_S22BByQ/

Going by the date on those Instagram posts, they were in Norway when Danny Boyle was still directing (he quit 1 week later). I don’t think they have any more to do with Bond 25 then the 007 Instagram posting shots of Bond films on the beach did

    I know.
But knowing that the next Bond director knows his way around the region I live in fills me with warm and fuzzy feelings :007)
It's also useful to know Aiysha Hart is a dead end clue, while it seems Fukunaga and Malek have mutual friends.

I have a feeling that this will be Craig's FYEO. And this excites me. Only Connery and Moore have had their fifth Bond film, and say what you want about Connerys Performance in YOLT, fifth Bond film has the chance to be truly spectacular.
LALD/CR = Introducing a new Bond to the audiences with a different feel. Cashing in to the feel of the time i.e blacksploitation, funk and Batman Begins, serious reboots.

TMWTGG/QOS = The last Bond film was a success so this one is fast tracked, causing problems with scripts. Influenced too heavily by popular franchises Martial Arts and Jason Bourne, which makes it feel rushed and uninspired. Mediocre theme song trying to replicate the success of the previous theme.

TSWLM/SF = A course correction towards an audience friendly embrace of Bond after a reasonable break and problems production wise (Saltzman leaving, MGM bankruptcy). A Bond which seems comfortable in the role, and also able to tap into the popular culture again.

MR/SP = Rides the wave of the previous film too much to divide opinion. Does well in the box office but feels slightly stale. Rumours of Bond actor leaving.

FYEO/ B25 = Bond actor returns looking older and more seasoned, but still having fun. A serious storyline, down to earth by a first time Bond director, harking back to the feel of FRWL and OHMSS.

I like your analysis, JS, and do hope that you're right. Though "mediocre" is too high praise for the QoS theme song, of course (cue Sir Miles).

Craig's FYEO - now there's a tantalizing prospect. Interesting to note the pattern. Please continue with Craig's OP & AVTAK. :D
Always have an escape plan. Mine is watching James Bond films.

    Well spotted.

I have a conspiracy theory about Danny Boyle. I don't think he was ever serious about Bond, I think he just saw an opportunity to promote his new Richard Curtis-scripted musical comedy.

Do you think that the Oscars could delay any cast announcement? If Malek is the villain in B25, he might want to wait until after the Oscars is over so all his attention, and all the media questioning, is about Bohemian Rhapsody.

The Oscars are Feb 24 and the cast announcements would probably officially happen at some point in March...

For Skyfall and Spectre the start of filming had a photo call/press conference and the cast and title were revealed at those so I think it more likely that Monday 4 March, Bond25's start of filming, will have a photo call/press conference and Malik will be named then - if he is at all in it, which I doubt.

It's likely the Hollywood trade press and Daily Mail will reveal who else is in Bond25 earlier in February, before the Oscars.

Waltz was rumoured a couple of weeks before the Spectre 3 December photo call/press conference.

Dave Bautista was rumoured/confirmed a month earlier than Waltz.

A member of MI6Community claims he has a source inside the Bond25 location team. He says there is a lot of building activity at Pinewood, Canada won't be a location, he doesn't know anything about Norway and Cádiz in Spain will stand in for Tunisia in north Africa. Cádiz stood in for Cuba in DAD. Cádiz has the same climate as Tunisia and until 1492 that part of Spain was under Moor rule, so some of the old architecture may look north African.

According to the source (real or not?) the location was moved from Tunisia to Spain because of the terrorist threat in north Africa. Spain is very cheap because of the economic depression.

Wasn't there a story about a Heineken ad filmed in Spain?
  • Number24Number24 NorwayPosts: 22,306MI6 Agent
Yes, I can see how the old town of Cádiz could stand in for north Africa

The same MI6Community source suposedly also commented on Danny Boyle's departure from Bond25:

"Danny Boyle wanted to make radical changes to the character (he didn't get into what they were, just that the response was "yeah, no thanks."). It sounded like whatever "golden idea" was in this story (and I still believe there was a golden idea-- I just don't know what it is), the story itself was "not a James Bond" story, as was told to me today."
  • James SuzukiJames Suzuki New ZealandPosts: 2,406MI6 Agent
It will be interesting to know what that was.
I've heard rumoured that it was going to be an exploration of the me too movement and all that.
Whatever the case, it sounds like Fukanaga is a safe pair of hands.

More North Africa? No thanks. I’d rather Cádiz stand in for Cádiz. That would be more interesting. I’m not buying it. And the Boyle stuff could have been cribbed from lots of other sources, including this very thread.

In any event, thanks for sharing this.

The ad was filmed in Cardona, which is nowhere near Cádiz.

So which part of Italy will feature this time? :p

I have said this before, and I will say it again. Bond needs to leave Europe for a change.
Make B25 or in the very least B26 with the new actor, an Antipodean adventure. Set it in New Zealand and Australia. Sometimes Bond movies work well if they spend enough time in one location to grasp an atmosphere or a feel i.e- Swiss alps in OHMSS and The casino in CR.
NZ and Australia have the most beautiful, breathtaking scenery in the world and most of it is has been unfilmed. You think LOTR did NZ justice, that was merely the tip of the iceberg.

Whilst I agree that NZ and Australia should feature in a Bond film, if you Google image a lot of the world's countryside it kinda looks the same. A mountain range looks the same much the world over, so too countryside. No country has the monopoly on the most breathtaking scenery. God or nature doesn't award landmass by some kind of pecking order of prettiness!

Bond25 is to be filmed with digital cameras, not film, says Bond25 cinematographer Linus Sandgren.
    https://www.screendaily.com/features/first-man-cinematographer-linus-sandgren-on-creating-the-films-spectacular-imax-sequences/5135775.article

I wonder if that is to speed up the VFX/CGI process, they can just stream/download the daily shoots from the studio/location to the Editors and VFX houses so they can get on with the job rather than waiting for the physical film stock to be put through a laser scanner somewhere?

I would imagine keeping to the schedule is going to be a looming issue after all the delays.
