Would be nice if the producers would actually interact with the fans, i.e. Bond will be wearing Omega, driving (Aston), let it be a video game or even non-Bond related stuff like never before seen footage (of which there is plenty).
There could be done so much more and if it would only be sporadic releases of cut scenes via social media...
I agree that as far as marketing goes, EON, MGM and its studio distributors are conventional in their marketing, usual cast and production crew 'leaks,' photo calls, synopsis, early picture, teaser trailer, posters (which these days follow the usual character posters) and then first and second trailers, magazine articles, and some Twitter and Instagram, imagery; perhaps the clacker boards have been the only marketing innovation with DC's Bond films.
With a very established brand like Bond, there could certainly be a more imaginative approach and use of the Bond fan sites.
THR does now have a November 2019 release date. https://www.thewrap.com/rhythm-section-november-2019/

I very much doubt it. TRS is BB wanting her own series - understandably - as she inherited Bond; she did not initiate it.
Has TRS wrapped, anyway? It's all gone quiet on that front.
A long time to hold it, don't you think? That's nearly a year and a half.
It’s the same reason as Bond 25 moving, really. Here’s part of the article announcing the move...
“In a strategic decision, Paramount Pictures has moved the release date of “The Rhythm Section,” the studio’s action-franchise hopeful starring Blake Lively, from February to Nov. 22.
Insiders familiar with the studio’s thinking said the new date is attractive for several reasons, including the holiday box office boon. The gritty spy tale, adapted from Mark Burnell’s novels surrounding character Stephanie Patrick, is thought by Paramount insiders to be ideal counter-programming to Disney’s “Frozen 2,” which is opening at the same time.”

Ah, I see. Thanks for the info. I always find counter-programming to be interesting.

"We can also reveal that for most of the script Boyle was developing, Bond was incarcerated by the villain."
Isn't that what happens in Goldfinger? From about 50 minutes into the film when he's captured at the gold smelting plant, until the end of the film at Fort Knox, he's a captive of Goldfinger.
Danny Boyle hinted he wanted to shake things up with an original take on things. Perhaps his idea was to boost the main female role by having a woman 00-agent go after Bond, having her do the traditional 007 stuff whilst Bond tries to escape his dilemma. Sounds a bit like DEAD CALM: Sam Neill trapped in a sinking ship whilst Nicole Kidman races against time to save him (hindered of course by Billy Zane's psycho castaway). An interesting idea but a bit too much on the nose for a Bond film. I'm a Danny Boyle fan but I'm glad he left BOND 25. He should go off & develop his own Cold War spy caper. He might make a decent film freed from the shackles of EON.
I'm not tired of Bond but I am of the endless BOND 25 production stories. The internet offers many excellent things but I do yearn for the days when film-makers quietly got on with the business of making a film with only the odd newspaper/magazine article to alert people of its existence. Nowadays I feel we know too much for our own good. And we become restless when a notoriously tight-lipped production team like EON refuses to play ball.
I'm also fed up of the media's obsession with who the next 007's to be. They haven't even made BOND 25 yet for goodness sake! At least let them get that out of the way first.
As for the length of production, I still find it baffling as to why it now takes so long to write a Bond script. Especially when the final result often looks as though it was cobbled together in an afternoon! I'm a Daniel Craig fan but I can't help now yearning for the simple charms of MOONRAKER. No inward navel gazing into Bond's psyche, just a straight-forward bit of big budget entertainment. Perhaps that sense of carefree fun will come back in BOND 26. But somehow I doubt it.
I guess I'm just looking at things a little differently now re Bond 25 after having a couple of very close relatives pass this past year the Bond 25 situation doesn't seem as big of a deal....just looking forward to another hopefully good Bond film. Better to hold on to a bit of optimism than misery for this old 007 fan.

They had lots of Fleming material for most of the franchise and that no doubt made things easier. I could imagine that Richard Maibaum was permanently on the payroll and churning out script ideas constantly for Cubby. I don't think you can churn out essentially the same film anymore either. Moonraker was a remake of TSWLM, which was a remake of YOLT. EON doesn't want to do that and the critics don't want to see that either. If you doubt the importance of critics, look at Spectre's US box office.
So, they want something different, but true to the franchise, but different people are hired every few years. While Purvis & Wade have a long association with the Bond franchise, we get Haggis (unfinished Quantum script after PW's was ditched), we get Logan (Skyfall & Spectre) who seems to have wanted a gender fluid Bond, Hodge, who wanted a #metoo Bond, and now Fukunaga's take. This Burns guy better be a frickin' genius.
Beyond Bond25, assuming it is DC's last, what we need is a clear reboot arc stretching over four films, with writers brought on-board immediately after Bond25 and a 200-page treatment for the four films to nail it all down and then develop the first script. They need to start maximising the script writing time and tell the directors, direct that or don't do the job.

My theory for why bond films are taking so long nowadays is that the general public are far too critical of films these days. People nowadays, with help from the internet, are so cynical and critical on media projects in general, that it is bloody depressing. Look at some of the horrible backlash that star wars ep 8 got. There are real issues in the world, yet people choose to bitch about films, they overreact and look for reasons to hate. Life is very dark, I myself struggle lots with life and mental health, but films are one of the very few pieces of escapism I, and many others, have. But, you only have to look at facebook for 5 minutes to see how truly critical people are of films. This in turn has made EON wary and paranoid about churning out bond films. Which is why they're taking their time, as they're trying to avoid critical backlash, which, for everything these days, is sadly inevitable. A morbid theory yes, but a true one? I reckon so.
There is still a lot of unused Fleming material. Large swathes of LALD and DAF. Basically all of Moonraker and YOLT. And bits and pieces from others, including the short stories. I really hope they rethink how to use what’s left whenever the next Bond takes over. Craig’s best film is still the one that drew heavily from Fleming.

I think this is basically an EON problem. Since 2006, Clint Eastwood has produced 15 films and directed 13 of them, most well received. And he's 88! In the same period, Steven Spielberg has produced 12 movies and directed eight, almost all well received. Directors such as Woody Allen, Christopher Nolan, and Steven Soderbergh steadily pump out a movie every 2 years while being both producer and director.
Still I'd rather wait another couple of months and get a quality movie than rush it and get another Spectre.

With respect, I honestly don't think it's that. F an reaction works both ways. CR and S F generated a lot of positive buzz (though I personally think that was partly to do with journalists trying to outdo each other with fulsome praise to get clicks.)
People have a right to discuss their concerns and opinions and it's not "bitching" or "moaning" (such a popular word since Brexit, and the phrase "fan-boy" has also become a pejorative term since The Last Jedi was released). Loving anything they give us, regardless of quality, like a brainless robot, doesn't help anybody. Fans spend good money on cinema tickets, DVDs and books etc, so they have a right to speak. having said that, I doubt Eon have even looked on forums like this - legally, they have to avoid ideas for future films unless it's someone they are paying - but if they do hear that SP wasn't universally loved then good, it may make them try harder next time.

I am working on a series of articles on that very topic. All those little (and some lager) bits of unused Fleming material that could still feature in a future movie. Every novel has some parts that haven't been used yet.

Yes! It always strikes me how much unused material there is, and much of it is quite good. Casino Royale aside, Cubby’s successors have basically ignored Fleming - and to the detriment of the series.

A member in "The other place" with the username Pierce2Daniel posted this:
Okay, I'm not in the 'scoop' game and this is fairly logical anyway. But...through a friend I've been able to meet a girl who works at Pinewood (something to do with a production guild).
She's told me about the Cats production which was shooting there. Apparently, it's gonna involve partially live-action/partially CGI costumes (sounds pretty bad to me) but she seems optimistic.
Anyway, she has access to Pinewood's schedule and confirmed to me that filming on Bond 25 begins April 5th 2019. Apparently, no information is listed regarding shooting locations which she says is unusual. She says she should know a lot more once shooting begins.
I have no reason to think she's lying. I've seen photos of her at Pinewood and she couldn't give a **** about Bond 25, she only checked because I asked.
I don't know how trustworthy this rumour is, but it doesn't seem unlikely.
Very funny. The girl (if Pierce2Daniel, his friend or the girl aren't dishonest) also works on a project i Pinewood and has seen Pinewwod's shooting scedule. That happens more rarely.
Than a somebody on an internet message board has a friend who met a girl.
But what I was actually asking was if a start of filming at Pinewood April 5th 2019 sounds reasonable.
Seems a little fishy to me that they are scheduled to start on a Friday, but sure, it could sound reasonable if you want it to.
I can only point out again though that an anonymous guy on an internet message board who has a friend who helped him meet a girl is probably not a rock solid source.
I sometimes post rumours I find here on the thread partly dedicated to rumours and discussing them. I wondered if anyone knew of this Pierce2Daniel and how good a source he has been in the past and how likely the date sounds, so the fact that it's a Friday sounds relevant. I don't think anyone believed the rumour was rock solid. I would certainly not have asked like I did if I thought so.
And I’m glad you enjoy doing that Number24, but if you post a rumor, some of us might reply with our opinion of them, which is all that is going on here...
