Damn. If this comes to pass, I probably won't be jumping for joy. Hate to say it, but with this and the constant going on about Madeleine possibly returning I'm becoming more and more indifferent to BOND 25 each day.
I've been saying this for two years, B25 should have been a fresh start.

Hearing Newman is possibly returning is not the best start to my day :# however I'm holding onto this just being another rumour and that Arnold returns in all his rasping brass glory.
It was either that.....or the priesthood

Actually it is from here, the British Film Council. It also says Sony is the 'sales company' so I suspect this is guess work.

Thomas Newman is rumored to return to score Bond 25. I know some fans won't be happy if this came out. I personally never minded Newman's score in Skyfall and Spectre and wouldn't be that bothered if he returned. As long as he doesn't recycle some soundtracks again though!

Sounds like something they pulled from an IMDb listing.

I wouldn't put much stock in this. Spectre's score was one of the worst in the franchise (I rate Goldeneye above it!). Surely we aren't the only people who noticed how poor it was.

Given some of the drivel served up as soundtracks on big films in recent years, it wouldn't surprise me if people didn't notice or just didn't care.

Worse than LTK, which WAS the Die Hard soundtrack, listen and check! I like LTK, but it's score was very bad.

On the topic of whether Madeleine should come back to Bond25...

I agree the development of the Bond, Madeleine relationship was weak in Spectre, but that means Bond25 is an opportunity to develop it. OR why not have Madeleine taken hostage by Spectre, so she conveniently isn't in much of the film, and ex-double-oh Bond has to carry out a mission for Blofeld, to save her life? A mission against NATO? But, of course Blofeld kills her anyway, why not kill her off in the middle of the film and then Bond rejoins MI6?

I always felt Casino was two films. Fleming's book was the second half, and the first half set up the Chiffre/White organisation.

After making QoS a direct sequel to Casino and tying it all together for Spectre, I can't imagine we'll get a standalone movie that ignores all the others. They went to all that trouble to bring back Blofeld (shame about the foster brother sub-plot but there you go) and tie all the films together and rather than a 'did he or didn't he' death scene, Blofeld was captured.

If the Bond films are aping Batman and Bourne and Swann does come back, she'll be offed in the first few minutes of the film to give Bond a revenge motive.

    As for Newman scoring, bleah.

Bond could be killed in the first few minutes. Leaving Swann
Out for revenge, taking Bond's name and number. This way DC
Gets a great death scene and the world gets its first female
    007 ! :D

if they're talking remakes then why don't they just have Danny drop Blofeld down a chimney in the pre-titles and then we can get on with a regular mission :))

No, Blofeld drops Bond into the chimney. Madeleine spends the rest of the movie avenging him, just as suggested earlier. At the end of the movie she finds a new man to love. She demands he changes his name to "James Bond" in honour of the guy in the chimney and he stars in the next movie. Problem sorted :D

I really hope not, I love a lot of Skyfall's score but Spectre on the other hand is one of the worst score's I have ever heard.

Apart from lifting some cues from Skyfall to use in Spectre, why do you think Spectre is so much worse? I think both are terrible for most of the same reasons, though I also think Spectre is worse.

Well like you said half the score is copy and pasted from Skyfall. So its hardly its own unique entity, you hear these copy and pasted segments and immediately think of the Skyfall scene they're originally written for. But beyond that Skyfall's score featured more bombastic "Bond" moments. As a result I think it delivers more of what is expected in a Bond score then Spectre does. The integration of the Bond theme in 'deep water', 'she's mine' and 'capturing Silva' are among my favorite uses of the theme. Spectre's use of the Bond theme isn't nearly as bold which is strange considering its the more classic and less dour of the two films. Also some of Spectre's action music like 'snow plane' is so overbearingly bad it actually takes away from the film.

Why not just have Bond marry Swann and get her pregnant. During her pregnancy Blofeld starts killing other 00 agents then just turns himself in one day. Blofeld then demands to be taken to a desert area where a mystery package is delivered to Bond. When Bond goes to find out whats in the box, he finds just the head of his pregnant wife Swann. Bond pulls out his PPK and puts a bullet in Blofelds head.
Some people would complain even if you hang them with a new rope

...call it "Double-0 Se7en"? And of course ask Kevin Spacey to play Blofeld...?

God I hope Newman doesn't return. I'd rather stab my eardrums than suffer through another disappointing Bond score from him. He's the worst thing to happen to Bond music in years. :#

That would be fine with me. I really like Sicario, a film with very suspenseful action scenes. Villeneuve is attached to direct another adaptation of Dune but it appears that film is quite a ways off. That all being said, just because Craig said he likes Villeneuve doesn't mean he will direct Bond 25.

Not sure how I would feel about Villeneuve. I enjoyed Prisoners a lot but found Sicario and Arrival a bit, meh.

I thought Prisoners and Sicario were fantastic. Sicario in particular is one of my favourite films of the past few years. Villeneuve’s direction, the writing and Deakins’ cinamatography were outstanding.

And like HowardB said, the action scenes were extremely suspenseful.

I would really love to see what Villeneuve and possibly Deakins could do with B25.

Read the Baz Bamigboye article in full http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-4908060/Patti-LuPone-returning-UK-away-s-storm.html, I think it indicates Madeleine will return.
Interestingly, although Bond has traditionally been all about masculinity, Blunt noted in an interview in the New York Times that Villeneuve ‘considers women deeply’ in his films.

‘There’s nothing superficial’ about his female characters, she said.

That may be part of the reason why Craig — and Broccoli — are drawn to him. They have strong feelings about giving so-called ‘Bond Girls’ more power.

Maybe Madeleine and Moneypenny will go on a mission to save Bond?
