Did anyone else notice that Blofeld's DoB is given as 1946, ie 10 years older than Christoph Waltz really is and 20+ years older than Craig/Bond? Seems strange. Oberhauser/Blofeld is supposed to be a few years older than Bond, fair enough, but not 20 years.
PS Golrush007 points out that Calvin has noticed this too.
What are people's thoughts on the Blofeld DOB thing? Do you think it's a mistake, or do you think there's far more to it?
It's a perfect excuse to undo BrotherGate. Please use it!
Only question is why would CraigBond mistake Blofeld for Oberhauser Jr?
More clone stuff? maybe Oberhauser Jr was a clone of this unrelated old guy named Blofeld?
then why was Oberhauser Sr raising him?
If so, hopefully Blofeld from SPECTRE was a second clone who just happened to look exactly like Bond's old foster brother, and he was deliberately messing with Bond by exploiting the confusion.
But that's still too much of a coincidence for my tastes, still annoying.
It all sounds very X-Files to me, the way I'm imagining it. (Mulder's sister was cloned, and it turned out his father was in on the big conspiracy)
Also like an update to Diamonds are Forever, which featured at least four Blofelds. Which Die Another Day already did, and neither of those are the best Bond film ever.
Do people here like the idea of cloning in Bond? Do we want another over-the-top Bond film?
I watched a 60 Minutes piece not too long ago about genetic engineering that was quite shocking. Depending on what exactly they’re going for, it might not be too far from reality.

If done well...without too much over the top stuff, it could be a nice return to Bond bringing something more cutting edge, although the cloning thing has been done before many times.

It does seem a pretty outlandish idea for the "grounded" Craig Bond films, but its also never been done before so its fertile ground for the franchise. And with Fuknanaga at the helm it would probably be less cheesy and more scary. The Bond series understandably rarely steps into the horror/supernatural genres but it would be a welcome change of pace then the usual death laser/big bomb/etc.
Seems to me the algae-growing in the trailer is probably closer to the mark. Something to do with food or, most likely, biological warfare as per all of the missing scientist stuff. Maybe some sort of super toxin grown in the algae?

The Garden Of Death would have been the perfect fit for this

May be we will get something akin to the Garden of Death....we really don't know much about what was shot at Pinewood other than a gun battle and some stuff in the water tank.

having just watched True Detective, I would so love to see the Garden of Death visualised with the aesthetics of the ritual murder sites from that show.
A tropical garden can be very cinematic, especially if it's full of poisonous plants, insects and snakes. It will tie in with some of the bizzare and scary imagery in some Bond stories such as the vodoo in LALD.
How cinematic can a garden be though? It's hardly an action scene.
it's inherently visual! there's plenty of nice gardens in the world that people travel just to photograph, the difference is Blofeld's garden was scary. Make it a bit gothic, a bit decadent, and film it at night with lots of shadows, just like in the book.
I could easily imagine a vast scary garden when I read the book, with many distinct sections to be explored, it'd make for a good extended series of film sequences.

Especially if there are things in there that are toxic and deadly including bad guys trying to kill Bond. There were a lot of really creepy,
odd and strange foreboding locations in the first season of Fukunaga's True Detective.......so Fukunaga is adept at that type of thing.
It's also something that lends itself very well to shooting on one of Pinewood's massive sound stages which could contribute an uncomfortable claustrophobic feel and otherworldly sense of danger.

Having somewhere look great isn’t the same as having a good scene though: a scene of Bond walking through a garden making sure not to touch the plants... that’s not exciting stuff. He walked along the edge of a rooftop in the last film without blinking: why would he care about some nettles? Even having a fight with another person set in there where he has to take care not to fall over into a static, passive bush is like a sort of comedy version of the laser fight from DAD. It’s inherently uncinematic.
Basically you’re asking for a creepy garden. Well yeah, okay, I don’t mind that; but it’s not really anything to get excited about or stress as being important. I don’t think there’s really an interesting scene in the concept, but as a location of a story they tell each other it’s fine.
There will also be snakes and large spiders there, and while avoiding those Bond also has to avoid detection. On top of that there's Blofeld in a bizzare samurai armour. That's cinematic to me.

Garden of death is very dated. There’s nothing really scary about snakes and spiders and poisonous veg since people are far more educated about these things than they were in the 50,s. You don’t get bitten by these venomous animals and keel over in 5 seconds like people believed back then. Filming would be a problem and CGI never really cuts it with these things however much money you throw it it.

Snakes and spiders. I dunno, I just can’t get too excited about it: I’ve seen snakes and spiders- I’d need there to be an actual concept behind the sequence before I could get excited about it.
It could be creepy if you had Blofeld make Bond watch someone willingly walk into the garden to kill themselves, but even then.. a garden. Even with some small animals in it it’s not terribly big-screen stuff. If he had some churning waterfalls people throw themselves off or a sunken pit full of tigers or something then you have something cinematic. A garden, with a nice lawn and some shrubbery -even if it is deadly- just sounds pretty dull to me.
Yeah, but who‘s gonna play the dumbass who removes his Sub in an open shower at a very remote and unsecured area and leaves it unchecked while he‘s soaping his little pal? 8-)

She didn't sing her Bond theme at the show.

And, allegedly Netflix and Apple TV are in talks to buy MGM. Is this repeating previous stories?

This would of course be in "Ni Time To Die".
