The connoiseur Bond was was clearer in the novels, but we can see him in some of the movies too.
I think his connoiseur side is one of the ways they can make Bond different from on other action heroes.
I would like to see more of the connoiseur Bond. A James Bond who enjoy fine wine and food etc.
We might have to wait till the next actor.
Why don't they use the scene from the novel CR where Vesper and Bond talks about food?
Not with Vesper, obviously, but it's a it's a good way to show that side of Bond.
I'd like to see him enjoy anything at all, just a bit, even on the sly a bit of Shadenfreeude anything really.
Of that of which we cannot speak we must pass over in silence- Ludwig Wittgenstein.
Like the dinner on the train with Vesper, escaping the car chase in Rome by using the catapult seat, being "dead" in SF, ordering vodka martini while playing poker in CR, stealing the Aston Martin in SPECTRE...... that sort of thing?

I don’t know why I never really thought about that but it’s true isn’t it? With other Bonds I walk away wanting to be him. With Craig’s Bond I’m glad I’m not him because I even have more fun...
It's true that Craig's Bond suffers more than..... Moore.... and the other Bond's. But it's a myth, or at least a exageration, that Craig's Bond never enjoys himself. I'd say he enjoys life more than Dalton's Bond.

I guess the way I read Craig’s portrayal of the character is that he does those things to dull the pain so to speak, not out of enjoyment. Especially the being “dead” in SF. That’s why I don’t see him as a connoisseur.
It’s true to Fleming, though. His Bond took great pains to get good food, drink, etc., not because he necessarily enjoyed those things but because he thought every meal might be his last. That’s not a character you want to be, as opposed to a Connery or Moore who seem to do things out of pure enjoyment...
Again, though - this is only *my* take on the character
With Craig’s Bond, they’ve always been searching for that balance between the film Bond, the literary Bond, and the modern spy genre. I think they got it most right on the very first try, and less so after, with Spectre being the worst. Craig trying to go full-film Bond was the most strained portrayal in the entire series. The guy in Casino Royale was the James Bond of the books transported to 2006.

I think in that regard, the guy in Skyfall was a decent, heretofore unseen approximation of Fleming's Bond from the last couple books.

It was a flaw with TD as well, but tempered by small details, such as knowing a decent reatauant in Karachi and knowing that Stradavarious violins all have names and the Afghan word for beautiful etc. All smacked of some kind of exterior life. While not fun per se at least suggested something outside of grim determination and suffering. Another example being the Hotel manager knowing of Bond's 'usual requirements.

precisely, Bond is a snob and doesn't buy that massmarket stuff.
Reminds me of Bond drinking Heinekin when there's so many good beers available, as someone who talks knowledgably about wine vintages would certainly be aware. Bond probably knows personally the Trappist monks who brew the beer he drinks, and has it custom-made in small batches just for him.
Exactly ) I dont really consider Craig's Bond much of a connoisseur nor a snob. In fact he indulges in many mass marketed consumer products beyond Sony. If anything Craig's Bond is the most "mainstream" of all the Bonds. He drinks Heineken, wears J.Crew, drove a Ford Fusion, etc.
Well, that's a good point... So what I probably meant was "Bond should not be using Apple products, nor other mainstream crap" )
As for Bond's first choice - I think he would not pick Apple. Craig's Bond was portrayed as a geek (at least in CR), able to hack passwords and stuff, which is probably what we would expect from a nowadays spy (that thing actually pissed me off in Skyfall where he's more of a technological idiot next to Q). I think he would research and buy the best thing on the market, which currently is the S9+ I guess. Apple is not that safe because "fappening" proved it.
One would think that the Service would supply him with whatever cutting edge tech he would want or need....they certainly go off the deep end when it comes to cars. It's the other stuff, the food, alcohol, etc. I don't really know if that is a part of Craig's Bond as the films don't show much of it...except he does love his old Aston DB's; which in my world is the epitome of great taste. -{

I guess Apple is too mainstream to be “cool”, but, from QoS onward my iPhone has been far more capable and much cooler than whatever Sony garbage Bond has been using. Just saying. :v

A. calculator is more capable than a Xperia smartphone to be honest, Sony ericssons were great but Sony ruined the company and it will tank just like VAIO

I'm not sure that Bond is a Geek, which according to Wikipedia means: "... a slang term originally used to describe eccentric or non-mainstream people; in current use, the word typically connotes an expert or enthusiast or a person obsessed with a hobby or intellectual pursuit, with a general pejorative meaning of a "peculiar person, especially one who is perceived to be overly intellectual, unfashionable, boring, or socially awkward".[1]
Bond is able to hack passwords in CR because of his training and devices provided to him by MI6, but I don't think he's obsessed by even all that interested in technology per se... Cars, boats and other "moving vehicles" excepted :007) I just can't see either Fleming's Bond or Craig's portrayal getting worked up over a phone or a hack.
Rachel is heavily pregnant right now. Her pregnancy was revealed back in April, so she could be a proud new mum in August or September. I guess she might be in Bond25, if like Lea Seydoux she doesn't start filming until well into 2019, but I wonder if Neal Callow is actually hinting that Bond is married in Bond25?
If accurate, it should not be a problem. Schneider has an impressive resume as a martial artist, stuntman, and fight choreographer and has recently done some directing. Armstrong and Powell are great but maybe some new blood will be good. That being said, Schneider is no stranger to Bond having been the fight coordinator/choreographer on SPECTRE and responsible for the fight scene on the train...a highlight of the film IMO. More reason to bring back Mr. Hinx (but leave Blofeld in jail ).
It was supposed to be March and then I think it all went silent on this topic and then Boyle was announced and I don't recall any reference to pre-production since. So, it's nice to have that confirmation, but you'd think it would have had to have started by now for a December shoot and "five to six months" shooting schedule that was revealed with the casting call. Earlier than normal trailer maybe?
