Seamaster question

So, I've been looking for an Omega Seamaster for awhile (Can't afford one, just looking) and came across this one on crown and caliber
https://www.crownandcaliber.com/buy/omega/omega-seamaster-2531-80-00-whi53047

I've never seen one with a clasp like that. Did they make then like that for awhile. Did the owner switch it? What's going on?

Looks like the band was replaced. Should have the thin polished steel lines running through. I'm not aware of Omega switching the band from the traditional design.

That's been swapped to what looks like an aqua terra bracelet, I don't know why someone would do that? The smp bracelet is one of the best bracelets I've worn.

Maybe they damaged the original? Idk. Other than that the watch looks flawless to me.

Yeah it's an Bond SMP fitted with AT bracelet I think the 1574/898 fits like for like.

Shame as I would say unless it is a combo you actually want it probably devalues the watch slightly.

I used to customise my watches but always reset them back to original when I sold them.

    Cheers :007)

Agree with bond 44 and I do the same. I have all the old parts for my vintage SM300 in case I ever pass it on ( I wont as it was my grandfather's) the smp bracelet is one of its features for me, OK you could get a new or second hand bracelet but the cost of that added to the asking price pushes up the total cost over what you can buy a decent one for elsewhere.

$2,940 is OUTRAGEOUS for the 2531.80.00! It would have to be the nicest one on the planet to command that kind of price.

It took me months to snipe mine online at a reasonable price, and during that time I have seen the 2531.80.00 listed at prices like that on many reputable websites (in very good condition). I suppose this allows for things such as authenticating, servicing etc.

After all, it's a beautiful watch, my favourite Omega, and many of their even more recent (and less attractive in my opinion) models sell for much more.

I could never pay that much for a watch, so have decided to buy one in a lesser condition and restore it. So far I'm happy with the result, though I still have the bezel to take care of.

-{ This is the route I went down, when I got it my smp was poor, but I did a lot of work myself and now I'm happy with it.
