Hi
I have an ever increasing collection of James Bond Omega but these are a lot cheaper compaired to a James Bond Rolex.
I don't have £30 to £50K to spend on a No Crown guard Rolex has anyone here put together a Sort of Rolex Frankenstein watch using a Rolex Movement and replacement and vintage Rolex parts, I know it will not be the real thing but better than a fake in my eyes.
The same goes with the buzz saw Rolex has anyone done a copy of that too
Any info or thoughts would be appricated

7-8k for a proper 5513 (riveted bracelet et al).
By the time you get the 6538, I think that you will appreciate the beauty of the 5513 and decide against it.
Exactly

This will cost you a fortune!
Rolex spare parts are not cheap...
Also, The 6538 uses very specific parts (bezel, bezel insert, Crown,...)
I'm afraid the end result won't look good.
I remember reading about yours at the time you did it and like the look of it and the ones from project x but certainly would not pay project x money for one
It interests me...could you send it to me for a better look please, Higgybum
Well, mine was not ProjectX money for sure

The 5513 is the one I'll be buying when I get up the nerve to purchase a vintage Sub. I know Connery didn't wear it, but Laz and Roger are good enough for me. -{
What's people's thoughts on this, bit of a Frankenstein watch made up mostly of real Rolex parts so I am told, genuine reflex movement and albeit about £5k a genuine one like this sold at auction for $267k in 2014.
Hum...Fake dial, Crown and bezel.
Would need other pics to comment on the case.
Might look good to the untrained eye but those that know
Like others say, try to get a 5513, but you won't be able to find decent 5513 for less than $8000,--
* keep in mind that my Submariner project could have been reversed to the original state and I've only unsed genuine Rolex parts.

I've once tried to get a watch without a dial serviced by them, they even refused to put a new dial on it.

I second this comment.
Rolex will not service a watch that is not 100% original.
Hodinkee usually has some for sale, not sure right now.
Authorized Rolex dealers will often sell pre-owned/vintage watches. A reputable jeweler who knew what you were looking for could keep his/her eyes open for you. I'd also want to hold the thing before I bought it since you'll likely be parting with $8-12k. Chrono24 and Hodinkee are fun places to browse watches, but I'd never buy from them.
It could be a long process to get a good one, so I would recommend patience above all else.
There are a few places in UK which are highly recommended, will dig out the names
I've purchased from HQ Milton in the past and can recommend them.
Make sure that you are getting a watch that has not been polished down - so lugs, case flanks and crownguards must be thick.
If you've found one, please post it here with pics or alternatively contact Asp9mm or myself for a third opinion.
