I've just heard that the UK now have a ministry for loneliness.

Not sure if that's a preparation for the after-Brexit age so that the brits receive some counselling

Higgins, does this make you a Brexit-racist* against those who voted to leave the EU?

    * Brexist? :D {:)

    Haha, good point :)) :)) :))
We could debate if I am being the racist or the pro-Brexit camp who also feel being better. ;)

However, I could object, that I KNOW that I am on the right side because most experts share my point of view - but those experts only lie in the eye of Brexiteers.

    Common populist tactics:

They: The earth is a disk
Me: But it's scientifically proven that the earth is not a disk, 99,7% of all experts on that field confirm this.
They: These experts are all liars

    End of discussion.

Remarkabley over simplified Higgins, most of those experts arguments or case points are arguable, the reason they agree is that the past ie Eu membership has a datum from which to draw statistics and therefore a solid point from which to argue, membership outside of the Eu in modern times has no such datum. Whichever way your thought process lies every given point or paper or report is full of " possibles ", "potentialities", "mays", "could" and "risks" and very few take into account the use of modern communications and globalisation. But I'm not entering into yet another brexit debate. :p

Trump just published the unofficial "winners" of his Fake News Awards. The list reveals that Trump dosn't understan what fake news is. Top of the list is Paul Krugman of the New york times who predicted the markets would never survive Trump's presidency.
So far he's been wrong, even very wrong - but the presidency isn't over yet, is it? The journalist didn't write something he knew was wrong. He didn't write that Trump is planning to nuke Fort Knox to increase the value of his own gold, for example. it was a prediction.

I'll also quote a conservative and Republican I like, John MaCain:

“The phrase ‘fake news’ – granted legitimacy by an American president – is being used by autocrats to silence reporters, undermine political opponents, stave off media scrutiny and mislead citizens,”

    This! -{ -{

And let me add that Trump did a GREAT job undermining the credibility of some very reputable news outlets.
    People make mistakes, even journalists!

Just btw - contrary to what Trump says, New York Times subsciptions are rising and not falling.

This week the Swedish prime minister said he would't rule out using soldiers against crimminal gangs.
    Believe it or not....
He said this after a police station in the Rosengård area in Malmø was attacks with a hand grenade. In Rosengård 94% of the people are imigrants, something that's unlikely to be irrelevant to the gang relatert crime there.
Last year there were several attacks using molotov coctails, firearms and hand grenades against police.
In my opinion the integrasjon of imigrants haven't worked for large group. It must Bee remembered that crime in cities like Stockholm, Malmø and Gøteborg are at a level American majors can only dream of, but this is still a problem.

Should I Stay or Should I Go?

After Jeremy Corbyn, Donald Trump and Teresa May, Henry Bolton is the latest to join the Clash Tribute band, where the question is strictly rhetorical - they're gonna stay!

I was unsure where to put this post, but I guess here is safest .....

Golf champion Suzann Pettersen has been interviewed about her friendship with Donald Trump. I noticed two statements:

    - He cheats like hell. I bet he pays his caddie well, because no matter how far into the woods he strikes the ball it lies in the middle of the fairway when we get there. Every time.

    - I don't know anyone who loves themselves more than he does.

Well, at least he's more presidential than any president in history.

Yes Economists, the same ones who never saw the global crash comming etc :))
You might as well look at chicken entrails for predictions ;) Also there is the
well known saying about if you ask two economists for an answer, you'll leave
    with three answers.

I like the predictions that range from 2% up to 8%... Very accurate, again this is non information based on a datum of information gleaned from the past and what has happened, there is no counter argument to it as we don't have a datum based on the future.
Also it doesn't specify what the economy is actually growing by? If it grows by 20% then only achieving between 12 and 18 is not bad news, infact considering we were all supposed to be unemployed. Homeless, and starving by now according to some economists the simple fact they are predicting growth is positive news.

Funny how every critical bit of info is immediadetly classified as scaremongering or fake news by the Brexit Camp. Bite reflex?

The paper is from your Tory Government who are desperately trying to see the bright side of Brexit ;)

I'm not sure it's ever been confirmed whether I'm in the Brexit camp or the remain camp! Perhaps I have a toe in each?
They are predicting growth either way, which isnt all bad news considering many predict global economic stagnation. Again it's all possibly and might be's
There is bound to be an impact due to brexit but then there was an impact due to joining in the first place.
This leaked report (read: strategically placed to ease in a softer brexit) is dubious by it very nature and the nature of its arrival in the public domain.

In Norway we've had two referendums on the EU, in 1972 and 1994. Both times the Pro and Con sides tried to paint the alternative as as the road ruin. After staying outside for many decades and watching Finland, Sweden and particularely Denmark's experience of being members I think most of us have realized that the effects aren't that dramatic. A stable, well-functioning society with a good economy might do a little better or worse in the EU, but it's not like the campaigns on both sides would like us to believe.
  • HigginsHiggins GermanyPosts: 16,619MI6 Agent
    With all due respect, N24.

But Norway would be in a totally different position without the massive income thru oil.
Nothing to boast about - it's just a huge piece of luck!

Comparing Norways economy with the neighbors is really like comparing Apples with Oranges....

See N24, in defending the rights of people to vote to leave the EU. You are
    now classed as " Fake News" :)) :)) :)) ( Only joking guys ) :p

Although I do agree with N24, that the truth lies not in the extreme predictions
of both sides, but rather somewhere inbetween
